But why should this bug you any more than them getting on the train to go between zones? Or (yeah, can't do this in game, but work with me) getting into a car to get to the store? Magic *themed,* after all, doesn't need to mean "can't touch anything mechanical at all."

I RP a fair bit, but just don't "get" that. *shrug*
It does bug me that I have to use the train or ferry to get between zones. I'd love to have an interzone travel power, perhaps even as a tier 5 in the pools. But if such a thing were implemented it would require a significant portion of dev time and resources. Flight Charm conversely would be little more than a copy/paste from existing powers and effects and perhaps an hour or so (pure guesswork) to whip up some art and write the recipe info.

With regard to "can't touch anything mechanical", consider this; I have a DA brute who, with CoD and stealth sprint toggled, looks like a big ball of black fluff. This represents his semi-tangible state, which concept-wise should be able to fly. Though because I took Leaping, he can't fly without a jetpack. Now imagine how incongruous a ball of black fluff flying about with a jetpack looks.

I love the craftable jetpacks. They are a great way of nabbing a functional travel power during low levels and great for higher level toons who took SS SJ or TP to have an easier method of navigating difficult zones i.e. Grandville, Shadow Shard etc.

However, as great as it is in functionality, its limited in concept. Sometimes I don't want my magic or mutant characters wearing a whopping great jetpack while flying. So how about Flight Charm? It would be functionally identical to the craftable jetpack, but without the pack as an alternate flight recipe more in line with magic or mutation (or even some natural) themed characters.
  3. I made a token appearance only. Tried my luck at getting cossie codes. Not a sausage. Got the badge though, which was nice.
4000 players I hear, and no server crashes. I guess that new hardware is WAI.
  4. Immersion can be fun. This game has rich, deep and vibrant lore that has been expanding for 7 years. It's worth taking the time to explore the back stories of signature characters, enemy and ally groups, as well as the zones themselves. The vast majority can be found at Paragonwiki. It can often help when coming up with character concepts. At the very least it'll provide an entertaining read.
  5. Latest track; The Porcelain Mask. A creepy little number for the Carnival of Shadows. Took me ages to find a decent calliope vsti.
This one is deep strings, choir, a touch of brass and of course the calliope. Hopefully it conveys the unnerving carnival atmosphere well enough.
  6. Aside from 6 slotting hover (back when it was painfully slow), I remember I used to stay in a zone doing arcs, newspaper missions etc, until I had completely out-levelled everything -- to the point at which even the highest level bosses in the zone conned grey.

    Hero tips

Hero tip: When caught in a fiendish, yet flawed and thus easily escapable death trap, encourage your captor to gloat and reveal his dastardly plans.

Villain tip: NEVER fall for the above tip.
  8. Both my accounts logins and globals have softcapped rename defence and thus sauntered through this without a scratch.
  9. Alrighty, Brass Monday has been updated to WIP 04. It's now longer and features a few new and rejigged bits.
I've also finalised Lineage of War and its now available to download.
  10. The high pitched bit? Are you referring to the harpsichord or the strings?

I agree with you about the ending, it does need something a little better.
  11. (Took me ages to re-find this thread)

Ok, so I figured I'd take your advice and try blapping with my Elec^3. I used my 2nd build and put together a preliminary SO build and gave it a whirl. I definitely see the potential for awesome. So with that in mind here's the SO build, however I want to IO it out. Again I'm not looking to spend a fortune.

Basically I'm looking to maximise survivability. Extra recharge would be nice but is not essential. I don't mind burning a respec to shift some slots around if need be.

  12. A sure fire way to make the player feel like an absolute b*****d is have them do something that puts children in harms way, or better yet corrupts them beyond all recognition.

The Torchwood: Children of Earth finale (and indeed the whole series) is a good example.

    Code:
Scroll for spoiler... The protagonist Jack Harkness kills his own grandson in order to repel the aliens who used children as narcotics.
  13. Ok, Lineage of War has received an update, mostly fiddling with the synth.

New track today as well. A little theme for the Prussian Prince of Automatons. I present Brass Monday. The OP has been updated with the pertinent info.

  16. Ok, one Rikti track available for listening pleasure. The OP has been edited to better reflect the project.

With this new one I wanted to really hammer home the familiar yet alien feel. So I've used some synth lines. I used a one note key with a throbbing drum rhythm to convey the militaristic and emotionless quality. And just for TechbotAlpha, I've included a little callback to the original Crash Site piece.
  17. As are the servers, which makes the lag obscene at peak times.

The Giza peice is one of the few tracks in the games soundtrack that I feel is perfect as is. I honestly don't think I could improve upon it.

I'd love to hear a piece done for the Rikti Crash Site, actually. I love the rock piece they have going there at the moment, but...I get the feeling there could be something really epic done for the Rikti. Something with a very unearthly yet terrifyingly powerful feel to it. Something I think the orchestrals you make could wonderfully convey
The mention of Rikti got me inspired. So I've started on a Rikti piece. Whether it'll be a specific Crash Site theme I don't know, but it'll have its own distinct sound.
  21. I managed to survive it. Even my global remained intact.

Also, Beastyle, given your love of all things Transformers perhaps you might want to check this out. I whipped it up a couple of years ago and it's gone down rather well.
  22. I shall be attending also, for I would have words with thee, devs.
  23. I'm temped to roll "That Ruddy Scallywag" for the purpose of merriment.
