Oddly since that point in 2005 the devs agreed with the people complaining about blaster performance and tried to fix it.

It remains to be seen if the devs agree with people complaining currently, but I really don't know what point you were trying to make there.

Yea. I do believe they said there was no freespec with I22 because the powerset changes weren't significant enough to warrant one though. I kind of agree with that personally.
  3. I'm not sure what to think of the blaster option. Is their putting a status protection proc into the thing a roundabout acknowledgement of blasters having status protection issues? If so why not just tweak the AT itself.

If, on the other hand, it's just something to stop blasters from complaining about status protection; then I'd really rather them just not do that and add in something that increases their damage.

Edit: Yea, I know they're not really finished yet, but it was just something that struck me oddly.

My understanding is that you choose which slots you want to unlock which includes unlocking empty slots instead of ones with characters in them. So if you only had controllers you could skip unlocking them and just click on some blank slots below them.

Of course, I've not played any non-VIP accounts, so I might be a bit off on the particulars.

Oh that wasn't leaked information. That was a live-stream with our devs over at MMORPG.com.

Dunno about the whole city getting nuked, but Nova Praetoria at least seemed pretty well turned to rubble.

I don't exactly blame him either. I mean, reading chat, listening to devs, trying to commentate and playing a game he'd never played before.

I just always thought the orange rings were a pretty decent 'click me' indicator is all.

He never clicked on any of the momentum required powers either I don't think. Struck me as a little silly, the thing has a big glowing orange circle around it; you'd think that'd entice someone into clicking on the thing.

I do something like that for the most part, but I tend to stick to SOs until 32 or so when I can just slot the 35 IOs and mostly forget about things until I decide to delve into the set IOs (usually in the late 40s).

I saw one or two patches of death too, but there are a couple player characters in the trial that have continually pulsing disks around them throughout the trial.
  10. It didn't occur to me last night as I was watching the stream, but since the hybrid powers are toggles I'm guessing the colored pulsing disk popping up around the characters in that trial is the graphic for them.

Link? Or was this from the Ustream chat?
The livestream is announced on the front page of MMORPG.com but it doesn't have any specifics beyond, "The trio will be running through some new content in City of Heroes to show off the awesomeness." I took that to mean they'd be playing through some I22 content, but on the Ustream they said the I23 trial.

True, but probably not by terribly much. Apparently there's a livestream of the I23 trial over at MMORPG.com tonight (6-6:30pm EST).

I agree that ideally there should be necessary interplay between the ATs in a team. Fragility however is a fairly negative thing in terms of game mechanics and should really be offset with a reason the rest of the team would actively want to keep them alive. The problem being that some people (myself included) don't really feel that blasters don't really have enough extra to counterbalance their fragility.

But yea, the whole thing is in debate obviously. Still if the thing an AT brings to a team that's different from everyone else is that they tend to die a lot; then that's probably something that needs looking into.

Have you seen any of those nature shows? Lions are lazy gits that make the lionesses do most of the work ... which works perfectly for a non-combat pet actually.

Ok, so my first joke thought is that blaster's are great at being vengeance bait. I'm drawing somewhat of a blank as to what you really mean though.
  17. Gee thanks Google. Now I'm having Dragon Quest flashbacks.

    ...

    Still fantastic though.

I think the comment was more meaning that blasters 'generally' have only one control power in their primary as opposed to very few primaries having control powers. So only very few individual powers in the blaster primaries would benefit from overpower as opposed to most powers in the controller primaries.

I don't agree with that exactly, since the ability to even occasionally control a boss in one shot could be very helpful. I just think that if you're shooting for a general 'across the board' blaster buff then it should be useful across all the powersets.

I don't recall two-shotting minions with my energy/dev blaster using AoEs. Of course, I don't have build-up and I didn't have both AoEs back when I could six slot for damage.

If you're looking for safe though ... energy/dev is certainly that.

If your attack chain usually goes GD->lift->stone spears then there's a chance that the damage from lift is hitting around the same time as the damage from stone spears. I know my grav controller usually uses GD->lift->propel and the damage from lift and propel happen pretty much simultaneously.

Something mid-range...if we were talking scrappers, brutes, or controllers I'd have a much better idea of what to use...
I'm relatively curious about how it'll turn out myself and I'm pretty solidly in the 'liking to see blasters improved' camp.

The general idea (I think) is more comparing a blaster to another damage AT since that's what people are doing in general; not to stalkers specifically. So I'd say feel free to pick a scrapper or brute too. As far as the blaster goes maybe energy/electric? Energy blast is pretty dang middle of the road when it comes to damage and the knockback really helps with survivability when you're solo.
  22. Did I just watch a trailer that included a tattooed swashbuckling Santa with an Eastern European accent?

    ....

    I'll probably go see that.
  23. They're totally not setting up Prometheus and/or the organization he works for out to be a potential future threat at all.

    Nope.

Heck, below level 10 the only penalty is how much time it takes to run back to your mission from the hospital since there's no debt.
