IMO perm'ing mindlink is totaly worthless when NW's and Fort's can hit the def soft cap quite easily.

[/ QUOTE ]You don't team much, do you?

    [/ QUOTE ]
^^^ This. And ML also has 30% res(psi).

So why would you NOT perma it??? I would rather skip Elude than ML.
  2. Thanks everyone! And who said the late 30s were a drag?
  3. Good fun as always! I'll be away on holidays the next 3 Mondays so will catch up with Psy (lvl 24 now) at some point. Keep it cool!
  4. Psy is level 21 now, so just within reach of some shiny IOs I've set aside for her .

While i am posting this picture i also thank once again to people who played great part in his history, especially Okton for making me understand how to build best Mind Controller for me.

  6. Did someone get pwned by a troller/dom or something???

Damage already breaks sleep in case you haven't noticed (as well as fear to a certain extent) and of course immobilised foes can still attack. And in PvP there's suppression. So what's your point exactly?
  7. For a Fortunata? Sure, if you have the inf.

For a NW? Much cheaper ways to get it perma.
  8. They do, but do you really want to spend 60 million on 3 Membranes when you can use Def/Rechgs?
  9. Actually your build is fairly close to what mine is atm (mid 30s), except for BU/FU (I went for the "scrappery" build). A couple of points since a few things in the unofficial Mids' update are a bit off:

    - IW: the base end cost is only 0.21/s so 1 EndRdx should be enough.
    - Mask Presence: same end cost, the base +def is really low (2.5%), so I wouldn't bother enhancing.
    - Mind Link: you can't actually slot +Res enhances (or sets) into it. I would slot 3 Def until you can get Def/Rech from sets (or Membranes later on if you're stupidly rich).
    - TT Leadership: 1 EndRdx should be enough. I would probably take Assault before it, but depends a bit on playstyle.

    Hope some of this helps!

    Linky.

Random question on the topic of Night Widows - Follow Up for PvE DPS, Build Up for PvP burstyness? They appear to be mutually exclusive.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much, although you could also use BU for PvE burstyness if you're going for the stalkerish build (BU + heavy-hitter from Hide).

AFAIK, Transfusion and Transference are never boosted by Power Boost, as their efeects are pseudo-pets

    [/ QUOTE ]
Direct +heal and +end powers both are (even with pseudo-pets), although Transfusion was bugged for a while and as Spirit says, the buff was unreliable (I think it's been fixed now). Transference is harder to notice, but you can see it more clearly on the end drain side. What's not enhanceable by PB are +regen and +recov (for example in Speed Boost). Also, kback (Repel) is no longer affected since I12.

edit: and back to the OP, I quite like Hover on a kin, but no, it won't replace a proper travel power (definitely take Hasten and then some combination of SS, IR and/or CJ/SJ).

Its not a farming build which is why I found slots for the hold.

    [/ QUOTE ]
More a general point about the differences between farming and missioning builds. The OP doesn't like ST mezzes which for a non-farming build is daft. IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Who would ever farm with an ice/kin anyway???

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's faster than your grav/sonic dude

    [/ QUOTE ]
    True. But my grav/sonic > your grav/sonic
  19. Certainly f) and h) are good choices. I didn't list Tough because I assumed you had it (since you mentioned taking Weave). If you're having endurance issues, do you also use Conserve Power? Anyway, things change (a lot) after Surge

edit: Lightning Field can certainly use 2EndRdx. Or you can get some nice slotting with sets: I have 45% acc 90% dmg 67% endrdx + a dmg and a stun proc + 10% regen from set bonus.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
So which of these 4 would you go for, or did you go a 5th route on your own brute? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks

    [/ QUOTE ]
    e) Aid Self. At least that's what I did on my dark/elec. Makes you much more survivable although you still won't be able to take every alpha without buffs.

High recharge and regen will help a bit but don't bother trying to play a sapper (use PS for +end and slot LF for dmg).

If Superflex Man is a SR brute (he is) he has around 101% resistance to defense debuffs, means he'll rarely get debuffed and even then it wont be by much. Also remember there is resistance debuffs too. I have to assume its an equal game for the two types.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I thought it would be around 95% resistance (at level 50 and with Elude up). In my experience def debuffs are more common than resistance ones (and resistance resists resistance debuffs) and remember there are also auto-hit debuffs (both -def and -res admittedly) and things like attacks which are not positionally-typed (so will bypass defense). So my point was you're likely to get hit more than 7.5% of the time (even at the defense soft-cap).

    [ QUOTE ]
Anyway, I'm still confused and not convinced that they are equal.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Here are some of Arcanaville's conclusions regarding scrapper secondaries:

    [ QUOTE ]
    3. At high enough damage levels, the broad behavior of Defense and Resistance changes for long term survival: Resistance increases the level of damage sustainable, while Defense increases the average time between bursts capable of overcoming regeneration. This change means that at sufficiently high levels of damage, Defense's effectiveness in increasing average sustainable damage decreases relative to Resistance. However, its ability to increase survival times for constant damge remains effective.

    4. At this point, I'm sufficiently convinced SR underperforms the other sets under essentially *all* reasonably fair metrics. Sufficiently so, that I'm disinclined to waste any more time calculating in great detail in what way it underperforms.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I personally don't think they're equal and am convinced SR is a great set for (PvE) brutes (particularly 40+).
  23. Also, you should factor in To Hit buffs and Defense debuffs (i.e. Superflex Man will probably get hit more often).
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Most other nukes > Nova imo. And defender nukes are all a bit iffy anyway. Fulcrum does help though

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Actually, I'll rephrase this slightly:

    - don't expect blaster-level damage on your nuke
    - be careful when you use it, you might have more useful things to do on a team than nuke (although having Transference to use right after makes it much more viable)
    - think of the nuke's secondary effects (things like stuns, holds, -tht are usually better control than kback)
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Oh, and at 38 you'll get Nova. Most of the other blaster top tier primary powers tend to get named after that colloquially, for a good reason. It's the daddy.
