Punchvoke = Gauntlet. Saying those are two things is like saying brawl is the best power twice over because you can punch with either hand.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isn't Punchvoke the inherent taunt affect that both Tankers and Brutes have on their attacks and Gauntlet just makes it AoE?

None of these are in my opinion good things, because the ease of use encourages everyone to do it, rather than providing the barrier for entry that I'd like. If it was actually challenging to make an arc, I would hope that most of the terrible arcs wouldn't be there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So it's poorly implemented because it's...... easy to use?

If you think the current implementation is so horrible then what would you change while still sticking to the original plan of allowing people to make custom missions?

[/ QUOTE ]I wouldn't. The plan is predicated upon the idea that every person has something to contribute. For the most part, they don't. If I had to make a system whereby people could make custom missions, I'd make it discerning and possibly even a contest, with oversight and testing and an editor.

None of this is feasible. Instead, we got a toolset that lets bad arcs get made, a rating system that rewards mediocrity, and a playerbase festering in incompetence.

And 'Make your own' is the most retarded possible solution to the problem of everyone else's material being bad.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, the solution to "everyone else's material being bad" is to not play it. And I still don't get how you think the AE is poorly implemented. You just said that what you would do with it isn't even feasible, so what's the problem with AE? There's not much point in going through the effort of developing a custom mission toolset for your playerbase but only allowing 2 or 3 missions be actually played because of how "incompetent" the playerbase is.

You don't like most of the content everyone else is coming up with, that's fine. Poorly designed content isn't necessarily due to the tools being given.

Therefore it is a success and a worthwhile addition to the game.

[/ QUOTE ]For you, sure. For me, it's a lot of effort spent on something that's made the game actively worse. I can't speak for you. I can speak for me. And when I see things being put in the game that make it worse for me, it doesn't muster up my enthusiasm.

Now stop telling me I have to be enthusiastic about giving idiots the tools to prove their idiocy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't understand this. The whole idea of AE is that anyone can make their own custom arcs for everyone else to play. If you think the current implementation is so horrible then what would you change while still sticking to the original plan of allowing people to make custom missions?

Being upset at current enemy power choice customization is a good place to complain about implementation. Just because the majority of the human population are not quality writers (shocker, I know) does not mean that the AE is poorly implemented.

If you want to play arcs that you feel are well written and well paced/balanced then make one and play it. If you feel that the AE doesn't have the tools needed for you to make an arc you feel is worthy then that is a valid complaint. What you're complaining about now is like me saying the current character creation is horrible because lots of people make costumes I think are terrible.

    Tanker Offense?

I also think Tankers could really be helped by having Electric Melee added, but that doesn't really help the other sets much. From what I've noticed, Electric Melee is ridiculously popular on red side.

I'm sure a fair amount of it is because it's got a lot of AoE damage but I think another big chunk of it is how fun the set is to look at. Especially with the tier 9 attack which for a decent amount of time was fairly unique (I think, anyway). And now Shield Defence has a similar skill and that seems to be a popular set now too (although not just because of that one skill). It's too late to change the older sets to have more unique skills like some of the newer sets but I agree that more eye candy would probably go a long way for the non power games out there.

If you are going solo, bots/forcefields MM is the way to steamroll the highest difficulty missions.

Still slower than a team, and boring. Fastest 50 solo though, I've been told

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's definitely easy. Not sure I'd call it fast by any means.
  7. I'm fairly new to the game and have avoided the Architect on my Controller (level 19 now) in favor of getting the story from the regular missions first. I decide to give a Tanker a try and instead of doing the same missions again I went to do an Architect arc once I finished the tutorial zone (so I was level 2).

I picked an arc (The Butterfly Effect, if it matters. Great arc, by the way). Went through all 3 missions, ending up at level 5 in the process. When I was done I noticed that I didn't have any tickets. I went to the vendor and didn't have any to claim. Am I missing something? Do I have to be higher level to get any? Do some arcs just not give tickets?
  8. I yearn for an electric melee tanker.

Do we need to pull out Psyonico's video of his Empath solo-ing invincible Carnie mobs with ease?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The irony here is that he used Mass Hypnosis and Domination to make it possible, both Controller powers which are usually unavailable to Defenders unless 40+ and chosen the psychic EPP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't confuse the issue with facts like that. Generalizations are much more fun

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's still part of the class, no? I don't see the irony, every class gets better as they get higher. Controllers can be good soloers but they don't start getting awesome at it until they can pick up more damage skills at 40+
  10. [ QUOTE ]

I'm just continuously amazed at the ability he displays for alienating some of the player base in the hopes of possibly drawing in enough to take their place.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Every MMO developer ever has that exact same ability. You're never going to be able to make changes that everyone is happy with.

Considering the trailer shows Tyrant and Praetoria, I'm beginning to think we aren't actually going to the blueside. More like entering the dimension where Good is Bad and Bad is Good.

I think we are going to learn more about the Praetorians and get a lot "closer" to them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, it's been explicitly stated this is true side switching.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I assume you go to Spock-has-a-beard-verse and while there have experiences that offer you the chance to switch sides and exit in red zone/ blue zone based on your decisions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's my assumption too. There's mention of a new alignment bar too. My guess is it will work sort of like xp. Based on the missions you accept and run, you'll get either heroic or villainous alignment. Theoreticly if the bar got more then half way in either direction you'd be classified as that side.

Thus if a villain (starting full evil) kept taking heroic missions then they would eventually become a hero, and vice versa.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hm.... if we do end up with something like this I wonder if that means we can switch sides whenever we want, after doing a bunch of missions.
  12. If you want to get all technical with what you did or didn't say, you didn't even call it powerful. You called it "amazing."

You're taking one line in his post out of context and arguing semantics. If you would read his whole post instead of getting upset over that single line you would see what he was saying.
