Exactly. With the above bind, when one presses Enter to begin typing, the AFK message of one's choice will appear above the character's head until Enter is hit again, which turns off the AFK message when the chat is sent. Can't remember who came up with it, but very clever.

Why did we need YET ANOTHER THREAD on this topic?
Please, in the future, at least attempt to use the Search function. There are at least half a dozen existing threads on other boards for this exact same topic, including one by BAB himself and others commented on by BAB and Castle in the Dev Digest. -
Agreed. Xamzax3, the events you describe in your OP are probably the most clever things I've heard a player do in some time. Don't be discouraged, I think your ideas are a gas!

Quote:Correct on both counts. Many of the kill task oriented badge, including the SG badge for the Fusion Generator, now require less kills to make them less grindy. It is suppose to be changed to 250 when I16 hits.
Which I think maybe today.
To the OP: IIRC, Arena match kills also count, so if you can get someone to help, you can get some kills in the privacy of some private matches. -

QFT. I would duel in an arena if I were you; that's what they're there for. PvP zones are, by definition, public venues - especially Warburg, where, with the exception of teams, it's everyone for oneself.

Samson_Sledge,
I believe you're under the mistaken assumption that Cryptic Studios still has stake and development roles in City of Heroes, which is untrue.
Back in 2007, Cryptic sold their share of CoH to NCSoft, who in turn hired most of the developers working on the game at that time and created a new studio, called NC Northern California, aka NCNC. Later, the studio was officially renamed Paragon Studios.
Part of the reason for the sale was because, at the time, Cryptic was developing a new superhero game in partnership with Microsoft and Marvel Studios that was to be called Marvel Universe Online. Later, Marvel and MS backed out, leaving Cryptic with a half-developed game. They decided to partner with HERO Games (for the IP) and eventually created Champions Online.
I understand this may be a little confusing, so there is no harm in your mistake. Just know that Cryptic Studios is competing with a game that they helped create, and co-owned for a period of time, but no longer help maintain. NCSoft is currently the sole owner of CoH.
In my opinion, the competition is helping to drive CoH to new levels of excellence, so I am glad Cryptic has provided more competition to a game they helped create in the first place. -

Already been suggested several times in the past. Although the consensus would love this sort of thing, the programming and extra server hardware needed to support it are non-trivial. -
<QR>
Old idea. Unfortuantely, non-trivial mechanisms are still non-trivial. Adding the ability to share items in-game between difference characters is non-trivial - especially when hero/ villain faction is taken into account. I'm for this idea, but in order to get it to work correctly, I suspect a lot of developer time is required. -
I know a number of Steel Paladins are checking it out at the moment. Me? I don't have the time, nor the money for another MMO subscription.

Hope you, Dark Watcher, and The Ocho get better soon. Sorry to hear you all got the "PAX Pox"

Ya, didn't even know this thread was still floating around until I get rep from it

Quote:Throw my hat into the ring of "Acceptable, as long as it looks bitchin'."For those of you with Stone Armor characters, how attached are you to the current appearance of "Granite Armor"? There are a number of issues with Granite Armor that could be elegantly solved by changing the VFX of the power into something more akin to the other armor toggles in the set. IE, your player model and costume wouldn't go away, there would just be a new set of 'Granite' armor pieces overlaid.
I haven't made any decision to do this, it's just one of the options for dealing with the multiple issues we have with Granite Armor and I wanted to get a sense of how many of you guys wouldn't be able to adapt to a change like this.
Before anyone asks, no...we couldn't have it both ways. -

Quote:I recommend you take your Sarcasm Meter in for repair. You're not being defrauded. You're willingly paying for a service over and over and over and over and over again... 60 months in a row now... for a service you hate. That's your own fault, no one else's. You're a prime example of why tort reform is needed.

The devs also hate Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny.
Not that I don't agree that it's high time that bases get an "extreme makeover" as far as the construction and raiding systems are concerned. -
Quote:I'm not sure it's that quiet on the forums, but I digress. What if there was no I16, no going rogue expansion?
Kinda talk to myself... But since its all so quiet (ingame, on the forums, etc...), i start to wonder.
What would you guys do then?
Personally, what I have been doing, waiting on I16 and GR, is taking some time with my PS3 when I'm not working or in school. Lamentably, the game has grown a little stagnant to me already, but I'm hoping that an infusion of I16 and, more important to me, GR, will stop that stagnation. But in the meantime, Fallout 3, Ghostbusters, and Force Unleashed (replaying for Trophies) have been good pastimes.
But without some new content coming down the pipes, I might have wandered onto something else by now, frankly. The MA was being too exploited to hold my interest for legitimate gameplay, and I've done almost everything else in the game, besides the odd story arc (although I still need to do the Khan/ Barracuda TFs). I just need something new to hold my interest, and the next two updates (especially GR IMO) will be the lynch pins. -
Anything could be suspicious given the right paranoia.
