We just hit 800 friends!
[/ QUOTE ]
Gratz ExI might have to rejoin myspace (with a private page this time) after all.
(My friends keep trying to twist my arm after I nuked my account)

I agree with most others. The Myspace page is going a little too extreme. Like we need somethign else to keep up on. It's really pointless and it just shows us what the developers are really trying to do. Just trying to get new players who are lifeless that are on Myspace all the time. When they need to be fixing up the website and the bugs in which keep the old players on longer. But just a friendly opinion though. If you think that "Adding people to the Friends List" is more important then the website and fixing the bugs, that's on you.
[/ QUOTE ]
I see it a different way.
Having a myspace is good because it will bring new and more players to CoX, and the more players there are, the longer the game will last, because without players, funding is cut, and the game dies, and none of us want that, so I pose a question... A few more idiots in game, or no game?
[/ QUOTE ]
So QFT. As much as I berate the spamming and hacking that happens to myspace users (spouse and friends included), I fully support an endeavor Cryptic and NCSoft are using to help increase visibility and (hopefully) the playerbase of a game a have enjoyed much longer than any other MMO I've played.
If you don't like myspace, don't use itBut don't blame the community reps for advancing via an established webspace to try to bring in more players.
That's my 2 Inf. -
Thanks to the rednames for pointing out this gem
This is going in my Favorites. GJ Fulmens!

I am a little saddened by this. Although I found out a few months ago when the "end of the Top Cow" run was mentioned, it still is a little disheartening.
One of the draws to the game (for me) was the comic book included with the subscription. The Blue King run was arguably not what some were looking for, so Cryptic found a bigger publisher, at thew cost of an additional subscription for players. Although PDF versions were (and are still) available for free on the CoX web page, IMO it still didn't replace the feel of having the comic in-hand.
Now that the much-debated comic series is finally fading on, I do hope that Cryptic and NCSoft will try another avenue in order to recapture that cool feel of "free" schwag (with the subscription) that helped pull me into the game in the first place.
As for my QFT:
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe there will be a graphic novel?
[/ QUOTE ]
I certainly hope so. Either that or the sorely delayed "Rikti War" novelI wouldn't expect a free graphic novel, but it might be a better avenue for CoX to approach while maintaining that same comic book feel for our comic-themed game. They could even sell them through the web page or PlayNC.com.

Having said that, I believe our Community Rep staff is doing an excellent job on organizing and increasing the number of community events in game. Thanks for the continued hard work -
And if all else fails, respectfully PM Lighthouse.

Thanks everyone, its a great honor and privilege to be featured in a comic
Now if I can get the dev team to make a statue of me I will have everything a hero could ask for
[/ QUOTE ]
What, and not ask for your own personal badge?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the badge goes on the statue.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, the statue would simnply be a giant badge, it'd be an abstract expression of his innermost being
[/ QUOTE ]
Or you could play it like Resident Evil 2 special missions, whereas your character is a giant piece of tofu. In this case, your avatar would be a giant badge -
[ QUOTE ]
I have no idea what connection those 2 particular red names have to those costume pieces, and the only server I play on is Victory. (I think I have heard that that server is considered the "roleplay server")
[/ QUOTE ]
They had a party on Test a while back (I think for the a holiday) and those rednames were sporting those costume items, ergo, the references(I think a better clue would have been "First player to wear a trench jacket" personally).
And AFAIR, it's the "other server that starts with the letter 'V'" that is the RP server (unless I'm mistaken).
[ QUOTE ]
3 across - as someone else in this thread posted: another type of game commonly found in newspapers.
17 across: hmm. It's a redname, but of a somewhat different sort than the other red names that come up in the puzzle. If you're stumped read the sidebar on page one.
[/ QUOTE ]
Figured out 3 across from another clue on this thread, and thinking about it last night doing word search puzzlesThanks for the hint nonetheless!
As far as 17 across - "Invented Inventions" - ha! Should have figure that one out. The clue was left ambiguous on purposeThanks for the tip!
That makes a complete puzzle -

And now the PDF version is three issues behind. Whee.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just one.
ftp://ftp.coh.com/comics/topcow

In that case, the page is three issues behind.
[/ QUOTE ]
True, but I have a feeling a whole bunch of web page updates/ changes/ improvements are on the way. -

grats Ascendant!
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks! I just picked up my copy-- I even got a speaking part! Woot!
Although, technically, the scene should go like this:
Ascendant: Here you go. Consider us even.
Positron: Um...What is this?
Ascendant: 654 Sewer Missions.
Positron: Doh!
Ascendant: They're all timed, too.
Positron: Doh!

What do you think 11 Down is?
[/ QUOTE ]
Pets. The thing is, don't you only get one at 36 months?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, there is a selection of them... -
[ QUOTE ]
16 Down, Stay in Character (6 letters)
Not the slightest clue.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a server...
[ QUOTE ]
18 Down, It only has one 'L' (5 letters)
I *believe* it's a zone name. It's really not much of a clue to go on though, but a zone does fit.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. It's due to the pronunciation
[ QUOTE ]
I haven't gotten
3 across: what this puzzle is not
I have s__o_u (I may have 1 or 2 down wrong)
[/ QUOTE ]
Same, but just as clueless as of yet.
[ QUOTE ]
19 across: she who bore the wings (7 letters, last one is t)
No clue.
7 down: first to wear a trenchcoat
I believe this would be the thug enforcers, but that doesn't fit. (or the ppd psi cops - also doesn't fit)
[/ QUOTE ]
Think rednames.
[ QUOTE ]
20 down: A right of passage for Supers (4 letters, 3rd is 'u')
No idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
Something earned. You're thrown off because you're 3rd letter is wrong. Rethink your spelling of 23 across (hint: too many vowels, not enough consonants).
EDIT: the other one that throws me off (besides 3 across) is 17 across: "Invented Inventions". A clue anyone? Not looking for the answer, just a pointer -
I thought the crossword was freaking icing
Some sections were a little lengthy, but the content was really good, and the player interviews are also a great way to integrate the community.
Overall, a 4/5. Good job guys
(I'll be submitting an event next issue I think)

GM response time seems to be a little backlogged, as it usually is after a major issue release. I made a petition for a copyright violation earlier this week, which usually gets a response 1-3 hours after I file it. This one took more than 24 hours.
I recommend that, if you didn't get your stuff back, petition, but expect a small wait. They won't know you're still missing things unless you tell them. -

"Yeah, uh, look, TYVM for the tip on the TV respect, we G2G now, BBL. Uh, TTYL!"
"LOL, u nub"
"Yeah, uh, u nub 2"
"ROFL"

IOW, slow at times but extremely informative
But just the kind of content we need on the main page. Interactive, informative stuff. More than just big 'ole blocks o text, in any case -
I got my 10M Inf back!

The people of a city decide how something's pronounced, not its founders. That's why we say "Tuh-ronna" instead of Toronto, and why Tah-lohs is right, not Tay-los.

for some reason I can never play videos hosted by MMORPG.Com
is there anywhere else I can see this video?
[/ QUOTE ]
We'll have that video hosted on our site soon. It's just up on MMORPG.com as a first look exclusive for them.
[/ QUOTE ]
To elaborate, if you're using a non-Internet Explorer broswer or non-Windows computer, you need a WMP (Windows Media Player) add-on or plugin for your browser.
I'm not sure if Opera or Safari has one, but here's the Firefox WMP plugin:
WMP plugin for Firefox at port25.technet.com
Or, if you don't want the hassle, wait till L_H et al put it on the CoX home pages. They usually put both the WMP and QT (Apple QuickTime) version for whatever one has.

Who did the voice, though?
He he... he pronounced Tay-los.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well I don't know who did the voice, but it was close enough to sounding like it shoulda started with "Hi...I'm Troy McClure! You might remember me from other City of Heroes training videos such as 'Go. Hunt. KillSkulz!' and 'How did I get in this blue cavern when I went in an office building?'"
