  1. I also noticed this:

    Around this point, we've done some internal playtests, raked each other over the coals with our feedback, and now we're fixing stuff internally, mostly the big glaring problems. I'm still doing the core zone work, assisting with mission writing, and fixing any bugs that are cropping up (and there are always bugs cropping up). At the same time, I'm trying to squeeze in fixes for older bugs or stuff that has come to my attention. By this time, we're coming up on deadline and things get a bit tight as we try and fit everything in before we have to submit our candidate to the publisher. At this point, we're already thinking about the next Issue. (emphasis mine)

    [/ QUOTE ]
    How I interpret this: bases get no love in Issue 11, but there's a high possibility that Issue 12 or 13 will have some stuff in store for bases, etc.

    Case in point: Ex Libris' thread re: Official: Feedback and Suggestions for Bases! Many thought that we would see stuff in I11 for bases from this post, since arguably, many of these suggestions had been floating around for quite some time. However, the request for consolidation on 8/27/07 indicates that the devs were done working on the bulk of I11 content, and, already thinking about the next issue, were ready to address another issue of the game, similar to what they've done for weapons customization and new IO sets.

    So far, especially this year, I think the devs have gone a long way towards not only adding new content, but addressing player requests and fixing/ tweaking/ improving the game based on player feedback. Hopefully, we can look towards more of the same sort of momentum and creativity in the months to come

    Longbow Eagle: Can you describe the ruckus?

    One of the best pop culture references in the game, thanks the Mellisa and crew. Thanks for all of your hard work devs

    Personally, I'd like to see that the Mods being able help the Devs with getting feedback from the Closed Beta testers, and therefore getting speedier delivery from Closed to Open testing, than to see them being distracted.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Concurred. I'd rather have the Community reps representing the community in front of the devs, and helping to gather feedback from playtesting and bug reports, than have them busy with moderation stuff.

    Ex is just asking for some restraint in posting fluff that either leads to flaming or off-topic stuff, or makes it harder to find actual feedback when there's a bunch of fluff in the way.

    Really what she's asking IMHO isn't stifling or draconian. It's asking for posters to be constructive in the forums used to gather bug reports, suggestions, feedback, etc. Even criticism can be constructive, so long as it's not flamey.

    There are still at least two entire forum sections (For Fun! and the Server boards) where one can post almost anything one wants' within the standard guidelines.

    That's all I have without stepping back into the realm of the previous thread from the S&I boards.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
    Unbelievable.

    These forums just went from bad to worse. Now we must cater to the emotional police because some posters (who apparently are very thin-skinned) couldn't handle criticism. It's become a case of "be polite and agree" or just don't respond at all...even if their post is a classic example a person opening their mouths to confirm that they really are an idiot.

    Guess I might as well bookmark the Dev Digest since that's the only interest I've got in reading these boards anymore.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I don't understand the issue. Nothing's really changing except that the devs are cracking down more on fluff posting AFAIR from the OP. Nothing is denouncing dissension of other posts, so long as it doesn't turn into flaming, which has always been against the forum policy.

    There's still plenty of room for fluff and banter in the For Fun and Server boards also .

    You, ER, at least type more than two letters to your responses, AFAIK Even Ultimus does that

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I thought Ultimus went and created a new thread every time he wanted to reply to anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    True, but this is more of a problem for a "merge thread" feature or such, not so much fluff moderation

    what does /jranger stand for anyways? I never understood that one.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    JRanger would reply to every thread he disagreed with:
    [ QUOTE ]
    no

    [/ QUOTE ]
    He was then banned. /jranger is now used in memory of his permeating dissent.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Ok let me get this straight, some guy named jranger responded to a post he disagreed with. And he got banned for this? I am still not following you. I disagree with folks all the time but I have never gotten the ban stick. Am I long overdue to be banned?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    It was more for just typing two letters without anything more to explain his point of disagreement, or to even form a coherent counterargument or discussion. That's my PoV anyhow.

    You, ER, at least type more than two letters to your responses, AFAIK Even Ultimus does that

    sounds like issue 11 should hurry up alittle..

    the natives are getting restless and frankly i cant say i blame them honestly

    theres a TON of stuff currently gettin no answer to nor will get answers too and its not making the paying customer happy..

    also a ton of people gettin ignored by reps and devs while certain factions are focused on

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I think BaB and Posi have been doing a great job at answering questions lately. Look in the dev digest. I'm sure they don't want to spoil EVERYTHING. The beans will be spilled soon enough

    [/ QUOTE ]

    yeah in the last 2/3 days ...sure

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I'd rather have them.. well, developing.

    It's the job of the Community Rep to represent the community to the dev team. Self-moderation will help lessen their time spent modding the boards and help continue to give our feedback to the devs so they can continue to make good in-game stuff like what's coming out with I11.

    My mantra is, don't expect a dev reply. If you get one, that's just icing.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
    why would you NOT monitor the server forums....these seems to be the worst abused at times.

    I agree with this, my server's forum has been an unsightly mess for months now

    Refrain from such posts as :

    * +1
    * /jranger
    * LOL
    * no

    or other such “fluff” posts that do little to contribute to the discussion. Continued such posts will result in action on our part to curb the behavior.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    You forgot to include "first post after dev".

    [/ QUOTE ]
    That idea sounds familiar...

    will you notify us if we are on your "watched" list?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    AFAIK (not that I've been in the situation personally, but have heard second hand), Ex or LH will let you know if you're "pushing it" via PM before clubbing you with the ban stick.

    Edit: Ex, your previous post on the subject is still in the digest, even though it was replaced. May want to fix that to lessen confusion.
  12. Wow Ex, sounds good I understand what you meant now, and hope that the new tracking method gives a better historical trend for better moderating.

    Edit: second post after the master of herding cats, I job I don't relish.

    As someone else pointed out, South America is a classic haven for fleeing Nazis.

    Even further evidence to support the return of the 5th. God I'm literally salivating. I've missed them for SO long. I can't wait to crack open some Nazi heads

    This would explain something I saw from some "swine" months ago. Wow, they really do think several months ahead. Color me impressed

    And yes, the ouroboros does look Aztec or Mayan, now that we have a South American connection. Perhaps Manit and Recluse are the only ones who know the truth about whatever's happening with reality...

  22. Sorry you don't agree with the voting majority - many players did vote on this, after all. No need to be a sore loser.

    No need to call States out either - the decision was based off of player democracy, not a dictatorship.

    If anything, call out the playerbase, although most would consider making enemies with the majority of players unwise.

    Oops, a little late for that I suppose
