Shorten the time needed to earn the badge at least make it like 5 days of logged out that way i can actually earn some of this stuff the costume options with them for the toons I PLAY

    [/ QUOTE ]
5 days is much too short IMHO. I think there is already enough low-hanging fruit badge-wise to sate most players. I'm kind of happy to have something that requires a little more patience to obtain, and can't easily be trivialized by farming.

In other news, hjow can I become the Good Humor Man?

30 days to earn a badge from not playing the game? to earn a badge and costume is not hard, its not challenging but annoying, if i want that nifty suit for a new toon i have to log out of him for 30 days before i can get said costume, its not like i have to earn it or do a mission or actually do something.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Are the new costumes even related to the day job badges? For example, I can already choose a doctor theme from the get-go. I don't remember seeing the red name post that states this.

What logic is going into changing Hero Epics?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean how like a power like Power Boost was so overwhelmingly unbalanced that if you had to chance to take it, you would, and then no other APP was ever taken for that AT?

We knew at least this one was coming.

There's going to be changes and no amount of screaming will stop it. If you playtest it and post results with recommendations, you may have the opportunity to shape those changes. If you preemptively scream NIMBY, they'll just tune you out.

And you can bet big money they'll give at least one freespec with this. They passed out freespec for far lesser changes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't even KNOW what AT gets power boost in their epic (I think it's contollers?) - because epics were NOT the issue- the issue was that Patrons SUCK compared to the Epics. So they are going to force changes on to heroes who might not want them or just don't want the changes at all instead of just giving the god damn epics to villians??

Don't sue "the Lord"'s name in vain. It's just tacky and bad form For shame on you Work_Ethic You just sound like a raving lunatic at this point. A crazy, raving lunatic

Their overall actions however, are VERY shady... as that link points out.

    Color me unconcerned.

It's clear that the site in question was, well, questionable. CoH is certainly more legitimate than the site sited in that article.

    But back on topic:

There seem to be a lot of people concerned about posts, or even post counts and ratings. The vB software was chosen because, not only does it work with NCSoft's authentication servers, but it will also allow porting of the current database. Once there, they can enable or disable features as they choose, such as post count, thread ratings, etc.

As for me, I could go either way re: things like post count. Heck, I sometimes use reg dates as a rough guess to see who newer posters are (and give them slack if they're posting something ad nausium such as Power Customization, for example). But others can use reg dates and post count as an attempt to prop up their credentials (or just plain laud their count over others), so there's the two sides of that coin. Doing away with post count would certainly make many forum games trivial.

I can go either way, so I'll abstain my "vote" in the matter. Suffice to say, the new software will be able to support many things that the current software does and then some, AFAIK. And we chouldn't loose any posts, active accounts, or forum names in the process.

    Now where's that beta test?

This is a great move for NCSoft going to vBulletin.

Kudos to whoever decided to actually take the plunge.

" Issue 14: Architect to be released Winter of 2009. "

Did I read that that right, "Winter" and "09"?

My wife and I met via the game so we're unlikely to go anywhere (she's addicted), but one update for all of next year.
I know it's [u]not[u] what you want to have to tell your sub's, but you guys.. you don't know what your competitions' going to be like . It's not going to be pretty. *shrugs*

    [/ QUOTE ]
As has been noted by various others in various other threads, "Winter '09" is actually "Q1 '09", so sometime between next Jan. - March.

    Danke!

Anyway, I do like the option for dualling... it means that I save an entire character creation slot when confronted with the dillemma of having two builds for one specific powerset combo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is a great point! Additionally, it may bring more people into the PvP realm. One of the reasons I don't want to PvP is because I built characters for PvE, which is where I spend all my time. I didn't want to respec out of builds I love in PvE just to try PvP a little or spend maybe 10-20 percent of my time. Giving me the ability to create a PvP build without having to sacrifice the build I love may be enough to get me interested and into a PvP zone.

You can't PvP with no one to PvP with, so it makes sense that more people willing to try it is a good thing. I can't believe I am the only one who would be more willing to get in there and try it out now that I won't have to alter my character to do it.

Funny random thought - it's about time the game caught up with Mid's Hero Designer!

I'm glad this article is out there, as it adds more information to Positron's post this morning. As tedious as it sounds to build two different builds with two different enhancement pools (it's for those who really want it, and that's the price), I am glad to read up on how Level Pacts will work (especially with the elaboration from pohsyb's post). Thanks for linking this up to the forums LH.
  9. Although a little saddened that the mission architect won't be out till later, it doesn't seem like "much" later, so that's cool with me.

OTOH, I'm still excited to see what's in store for Bases, as well as the new mission content, day jobs, and power rebalancing.

Keep fighting the good fight Posi et al

Anyways, here's my Freakshow-turned-Crab Spider with access to highly advanced tech, Goliath Bird Eater:

    Front shot

    Closeup without HUD

    [/ QUOTE ]

Woah. Love it. First thought was "how did he get a head on the Crab armor?!"

    [/ QUOTE ]
QFT. I like the look. Did something with my android Crab Spider in a similar vein, which I'll have to shoot & post today or tomorrow.
  11. Thanks for the link LH

Wait... the Kronos doesn't have a hold?!?

Yes, we're all impressed by your sarcasm, but I don't think it will be quite as funny when $15 a month just plain isn't enough to play any more.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Please Tony, must you be so melodramatic in every forum you visit?

    This SUCKS.

Folks, I'm on a limited income. I'm disabled, on social security, and I really shouldn't be paying for City of Heroes in the first place, let alone now being tempted to pay even more to NCSoft for these excellent graphic pieces of art...

This blatant money-grubbing is really insulting to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No rants please; against the forum rules.
  14. Understandably frustrating for sure, to be hindered by NCSoft's 3rd party partner.
  15. There are some odd results with the power from what I've been following on the other thread. Best to /bug it in-game to help the devs out.

Edit: also, bug thread started here
  16. Thanks for the thread LH. Woot! Can't wait to try this out during lunch!

One thing I noticed in the Cyborg pack description though:

    [ QUOTE ]
The following emotes are mandatory for any respectable Cyborg:

Robot Dance - /emote robotdance (view emote)
Power Up - /emote powerup (view emote)
Power Down - /emote powerdown (view emote)
Selectable Auras that only appear when characters are in combat mode:

Left Eye Laser (color tintable) (view)
Right Eye Laser (color tintable) (view)
Both Eyes Laser (color tintable) (view)
Holographic HUD (Heads up Display) (view)

    [/ QUOTE ]
None of the "view" links are linked to anything. May want to fix that if possible
  17. My robotic Crab Spider will be getting an upgrade it seems, as will his cybernetic MM creator
  18. Congratz on the grand prize 8Baller, and Leo and CollegeJem and 1st & 2nd place!
  19. Welcome Bruce!

As a formerly avid P&P fan, often characters and themes from my P&P sessions have inspired me in CoX, even though the genres between my P&P games and CoX are completely different. The same can be said for Jack Emmert with the Statesman, and Matt Miller with Positron - both characters that (AFAIK) were originally Heroes P&P characters that eventually fell into the CoX universe.

As a creative thinker, does this happen to you? From what kind of P&P ideas have you drawn inspiration? Do you find yourself using elements from P&P sessions in your storylines, missions or writing? Do you find yourself taking some old P&P ideas and turning them on their edge to give them a new spin?
  20. Man, I need to head to lunch now

Hope you guys and gals have a good time up in Seattle this week!
