I'll show you what I use.

    /setfps 4
    or
    /maxfps 4

You don't have to use 4, I used that so I could dual box on one computer. The slave account would bog down the primary account. After running the command it improved the performance on the primary. I suggest experimenting with various numbers to find what works for you. This is not a permanent command either. After you log off the game it resets.
Use both the Maxfps and Maxinactivefps commands. I use 25 and 5 for my values. Maxfps 25 will set a cap on FPS at 25, while maxinactivefps 5 makes the client that isn't the focus window run at 5 FPS. It's a great way to save resources, and you don't have to watch a slide show when you're switching to the secondary client.

Beat me to it. It's a great way to set it up for people like me who don't remember to hit buttons like that on login. You can use multiple commands in the end of the target line -test -maxfps 25 -maxinactivefps 5 etc

Champions releases in three weeks, and Beta for GR is set to start "Later this year" last I read, it won't be out in time for that.

As much as I'm looking forward to it, honestly, I wouldn't expect it until January or February at the earliest. Christmas is pushing it. Given the loyalty program dates, I'd expect Closed Beta to start mid-late October for the 60 month vets The invites for the Aug. 15th - Nov. 15th loyal people to come out around the 20th - 25th of November, once they datamine who was active during that period.

If the expansion is anywhere near as big as a lot of people are expecting, those 2 and a half months aren't going to be enough to get it out by Christmas. Hell, even late January early February is pushing it at that point.

I just canceled both of mine, so I'm expecting my invite aaaaaany minute now.

So a friend of mine got invited to Closed Beta for Issue 16.

They haven't played the game since the Free Week, and hadn't paid for an account for a long time before that, and have no intentions of coming back.

Evidently Comic Con go-ers and people who aren't even interested in this game anymore get a free ride.
There are a few people I know over on the CO Boards I've been talking to that have been invited too, and haven't had an account active in as many as two years.

Remember, instructions to the beta testers would not be visible to to people not in the beta.
so avoiding the point of my previous post.

I wasn't trying to start a fight or anything, hell I don't touch freedom because I just don't like the high population servers. so I can't say one way or the other about what happens.

edit: I just know a lot of people, especially lately, talk in that stupid text speak for some reason, and a lot of people consider that l33t.

So either you're in the closed beta and are breaking the NDA by telling us what is and isn't allowed, or you've been talking to someone who is, and is breaking the NDA by doing so. either way.

put up or shut up. prove me wrong.

BAB knew full well that beta was starting today when he gave the general direction beta should go in that post. Don't try to say that he posted that in ignorance and didn't know the game plan for beta.

Edit: I mean, it's not like it matters either way, but don't tell me i'm wrong without backing it up with something, especially when I've given credible evidence to the contrary.

    • Do the FX appear the way you expect them to appear on critters and/or allies?
    • Do continuing (Fire damage over time) and/or conditional FX (block of ice hold) appear correct on yourself, allies, and/or targets?
    • Do your customized FX stay persistent when you zone, when you enter missions, supergroup bases, log off/log in, exemplar, sidekick, etc.
    • Does everything work as expected when you switch costumes, switch costumes that involve a gender change, use temporary disguise powers such as the Halloween costume change powers, etc.
    • Do other players VFX appear the way they expect them to appear? Do your VFX appear the way you expect them to appear to other players?
    Power Customization - Animations
    • Do customized animations play consistently as expected?
    • Do they play consistently while flying, while jumping, while moving, while various toggles are active, while disguised, etc? (If not, be very specific about the particular combination of body types, toggles, etc)
    • Do other players' animations appear the way they expect them to appear? Do your animations appear to other players the way you expect them to appear?
the things i have italicized are things you cannot do just testing the creator.

edit: yes, I am aware that everything is italicized.

what you said and my post that you quoted have nothing to do with eachother.

The post I quoted said they hoped they added the message, I was agreeing with that. had nothing to do with the error code given currently.

I can get to the server screen, but selecting the Training Room times out and gives a "Lost connection to DBserver" error, kicking you back to log in.

Though it shows Test as being up and available in the server select window.

I don't have a specific quote, but it's not just speculation. At one point one of the devs came out and said something along the lines of:

We don't really like it, but there isn't anything at the moment we can do about it. It's how it was designed.

which says, while it's not well liked, it is working as intended. Bugs are unintentional side effects, not how it was designed.

    thus, not a bug.

    edit: clarity

Of course people will refer to it as "having a privilege taken away". Some people are still talking about the Issue 1 Some Grenade "nerf", after all.

We've tried a "no closed beta" variant just last issue. It resulted in a whole lot of day 1 posts to the tune of "this is a horribly buggy issue, this game sucks and I'm leaving".

Mind you, it would've been nice to get a heads up slightly earlier. At the very least, someone could've spread the word around the office so BABs didn't end up Twittering "Guys, come and check out the new character creator!" and "we're trying to get a fix to the issue where only closed beta testers should access the character creator working" in short succession.

It wasn't a bug before and isn't considered one now. It was always working as intended. it just so happens that the new Que system they're putting in stops that. Nothing more, nothing less.

Maybe they will at last please those who refuse to call their character a Kheldian and hold to the idea that theirs is a wizard who can change into a tentacled being identical to a Dark Nova or whatever. I cant wait to see how their fading defense, which is now only lightly held as an idea, holds out here.
This is the only part i read that gets me.

Khelds are a new creation specific to the game, sure, but there are still at least a dozen RP reasons to modify the colors of kheld abilities. A couple of examples: Perhaps the character is a mimic/shape shifter who idolizes the Peacebringers, but to keep himself distinct uses red abilities, or the person who was joined with the Warshade symbiont has some natural aspect of him or herself that alters the energy generated to turn it blue.

So, yes, they're baked into the story one way, but there are ways that make complete sense in the universe the game is set to allow customization for those abilities.
