For the record, my philosophy's that every arc is a three until proven otherwise. Not horrid, not great. I'd hate to think I had to go into every arc expecting the worst thing on City of Heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, when I think of the normal game missions I've played... 3 for me is "average normal game arc". 5 is something truly exceptional like Viridian. 1 is something truly terrible, either not-even-bothering-to-phone-it-in bad or deliberately obnoxious. You should have to work for a 5... or a 1.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Glad i'm not alone here. I always plan on giving a 3 star simply because i know how much time and effort goes into making a mission/arc. If i feel it's better than average, i give an extra star (Once i gave an extra star simply because it had me fighting alongside Ghengis Khan and Abe Lincoln). If i feel it could have been better, i drop a star. You really have to stand out if you want a 1 or a 5 from me.
  2. Not sure if this was asked already, but here goes: Can we require prerequisites for our contacts? Namely, can i require Contact A's story arc be completed and souvenier obtained prior to starting Contact B's story arc? Also, what about badge requirements? Say, Bling needed before Contact C will speak to you. That sort of thing.
  3. While it does bother me that villains have about half the zones as heroes, ultimately, i would vote against more "villain only" zones. The zones villains have now are mostly wasted space. Don't even get me started on all the empty water around the islands, like Nerva, or the "placeholder" zones like Monster Island which is 3/4's water, has nothing but Rikti Monkeys and giant Devouring Earth, no badges and is never being used when i hop in and look around.

What we need is more to do in the zones we have. Mercy for example, has four whopping contacts (Kalinda and Mongoose, and Burke and Dr. Whasisname). I've gotten so tired of doing the same old missions, that I just street sweep with new characters until I'm ready for Port Oakes. New starter contacts or even starter newspaper missions would spice things up.

They could even sprinkle starter areas with mid to high level contacts, giving you the chance to revisit these vast areas. For instance, they could offer you a Sky Raider contact who conducts business on one of the highest rooftops in Mercy. You're warned ahead of time that you'll need a travel power to reach him (or at least until you have his cell number). Then he gives missions where the mission doors are all on top of buildings, and include instanced versions of Mercy's rooftops.

While we're on the subject of new, they could really breathe new life into red side by giving us more variety in our enemies. When you're in your 40's and still fighting Longbow and Arachnos in every other mission, things start to get stale. The Legacy Chain, Wyvern and the Luddites could be revamped and given the spotlight at higher levels to mix things up. They could even whip up a couple new hero organizations and storylines for those of us who've had our fill of the CoT.

In short, nevermind the new zones unless they're co-op, competitive co-op or PvP. Just flesh out the red side some more.

Well They're rapidly running out of time if they wish to release I11 in Fall of 07 instead of Winter.

So is it Fall or Winter for Issue 11?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Winter begins Dec 21. It's all Fall up until then.

    [/ QUOTE ]

From what I read during an official source (interview or posting, I forget which), Issue 11 would not come out the week of Thanksgiving, and they were figuring on the week prior or the week after. Which means either this week or the end of November. I'm guessing the last week of November myself.

FYI - I'm a HUGE kaiju fan (giant monsters).

I collect all the figs, the theatrical posters, etc.

I've got Godzillas from the past two movies all around my office. And a Godzilla: Final Wars mousepad (theatre only).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I smell a future expansion. First there was City of Heroes, then City of Villains, now........City of Kaiju! Of course, after hundreds of people create Godzilla, Megalon and Gigan clones, Toho will probably launch a frivolous lawsuit too.

I think it should have been announced as:
Issue 4: "Why the heck are you asking about Issue 4. 3 was just released for Pete's sake!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Happy Birthday! I'll give you a star!

P.S: Enjoy the 5 Stars while they last......

  9. A tap dancing Jesus? Nice visual for the New Year. I like it. Its festive. That being said, I'll get to the point. I said it before and I'll say it again:

Give them time to fix the problems....or don't. Your choice.

I for one am giving them time. Thats all I'm saying.

P.S: Thanks for the response States! Welcome back!

Oh dear lord! How can we live with such a thing!?

Stop doom saying, the Issue hasn't been on live for even 2 hours.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. I make it a habit to stay away from the game until at least a couple of days after an issue goes live. Gives the devs time to fix last minute bugs and unexpected developments. Lets me avoid all the angry "I hate these changes!!!" rants too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But these aren't "last minute bugs and unexpected developments". For the past three weeks, players who have been using the test server have been saying that things are so badly broken, if it goes live, a lot of them may quit. NONE of that was addressed, none of that was checked, none of that was given so much as the courtesy of an answer.

I am shocked, absolutely flaberghasted that a team that used to do such a great job in communication has done this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Alrighty then! Let me rephrase my earlier post. I don't play until after the dust settles. Be it unexpected bugs, preexisting bugs, whatever. No plan survives contact with the enemy, and no patch/update survives contact with a live server. Things will change....especially when the inmates are rattling their cages. That always gets the devs attention.

As for lack of communication from the devs? How dare they?!! How dare they enjoy the holidays with their families after all these months of constant work? Seriously. Lighten up a little. Nobodys perfect. Not me, not you and not them. They've been guilty of poor miscommunication in the past, but they've always apologized for it and made things right. Its also doubtful that things weren't "checked" as you put it. These poor guys are always working behind the scenes. If they don't take the time to respond to complaints, then they're probably too busy trying to work out the kinks. Cut them some slack and give them time to fix the problems.....or don't. Quit angrily and go play WoW or something. Its your choice.

  12. Ravager does sound pretty sweet! Lets change names with Issue 4. While I think about it, I wonder what the French word for Tanker is? Le Tanker? ***** Kicker? Petit Morte? Anyways, lets start a movement!.....and no, not *****.....Lets get the devs to switch Scrapper to Ravager!

Unless of course they already have that name picked out for the CoV "anti-scrapper".
  13. [ QUOTE ]

That all said I never assume any game is being released until I see the announcement on the official web site that it has gone GOLD.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Absofrickinlutely! I spent two years managing Gamespot stores, and I can honestly say "release dates" are nothing more than carrots to dangle before the jackas......er....consumer. These dates are reckless estimates at best, and are usually followed by the mandatory "If you reserve it now, we can call you when (if) it comes in. Its only $5.00...." <wink, wink, nudge nudge>

Until there's official confirmation that the game has gone gold, don't believe ANYTHING you hear. Less stressful that way.
