Here is a new build that I have been playing with & love it. I buff the team (re-buff when needed), then what? I have been running a lot of AE missions with some friends, trying to get some extra cash to buy some "nicer" sets (purps). So, I went with more AoE damge. I activate aim, run up to the mob & cast Soul Drain (adding even more +damge & +to-hit buff), cast sleet (to debuff my mob & ticks for 1 damage), cast ice storm (which ticks from anywhere between 2-5 damage), luanch an ice breath at the mob, & if the mob is big enough, cast Blizzard. I can usually keep sleet & ice storm casted because of the recharge & sometimes can do some pretty sweet damage (I usually run with a fire/kin, which adds more damage because of Fulcrum).

Other than the purple recipes in Hot Feet & Fireball, this is what I am running with. I farm level 53 bossesusually spawned for an 8 man team, along with another fire/kin or a fire/rad & we do just fine. If we have a tank, the tank pulls mobs to us, we don't follow the tank. Take note, I do not have acrobatics, I got a +4 KB resist in my SJ. I never get KB'd.

It's really a toss up on the style you want to play.
1) Fissure disorient stacks with flashfire disorient, start farming level 52-53 bosses.
2) Be sure to take the fighting pool powers for tough & weave.
3) Be sure to take combat jumping for the extra defense.
4) If you go with fire, you get more damage resist, if you go with stone, you get more defense. So if you go with stone, you get 3 defense powers, instead of 2 (you see where I'm going with this).
5) Fulcrum makes you damage cap if you are getting 10 every time & using it whenever it is up.
6) Your Fire Imps are a perk to your damage, not the main source of damage. I out damage my fire imps (if they survive) by a long shot.
7) Slot your sets so you get more +hitpoints so you can survive standing next to a mob.
8) Use heal every other power in your chain & you will notice a HUGE difference.
I'm on Victory, ever want to come run with me & check it out, come see.

I think that this is a wonderful idea. Life after 40 (hopefully soon to be 50), when in VG mode, you would get only prestige, not in VG mode, you would get only infamy. This would prevent you from getting to the top level & then retiring your villain. It would keep all of your toons active.
I like this idea very much. Thanks for the post. -
I LOVE SHOOTING THIS ONE DOWN EVEN MORE!
I'm not riding on a high horse, I personally HATE PvP. I have maybe played a total of ten matches in the arena & have been to all the new PvP zones just to check them out. I think the DEV's are making the price for items so high because they want the game to last forever & by having the prices high up, they will expect you to hang around & play a lot or play for a very long time.
I read the thread, I know it's about salvage, I simply frowned upon reading further into what you guys were actually wanting to say. LOWER COSTS ON EVERYTHING!
Don't you think that all this stuff has been tested?
Don't you think that the DEV's came together before the game was released & made a VG to actually see how it was going to work out?
Don't you think that they took the numbers from the current SG's in CoH, made a note as to how many characters were in each SG & said, "Hell, if they have SG's like this in CoH, then they will in CoV too!"
Maybe they are putting a cap on the amount of salavage that you can hold because they WANT you to use it, NOT hold onto it.
Be thankful that they didn't put a time limit on how long you can keep the salvage before it is dropped from you inventory.

Ya know what? Some of us CoH/CoV fans do actually have a life, and jobs, and resposiblities, and other commitments.
AND if a character wants to advance at some point the will need to be turning off that SG mode to earn experience. Which means characters can not always be in SG Mode, so we lose potential Man-Hours right their.

I have 2 things wrong with this:
#1-if you have a life outside of CoV, THEN DO IT! Nobody's stopping you from doing it. You don't hear me complaining about not owning a BMW but 3 people on my street do, do you? They work hard for what they want. If you want the grand base the you are thinking about, then you are going to have to work for it. It's that simple.
#2- you gain experience at the same rate in VG mode as you do out of VG mode, it's the infamy/prestige that you want to refer to. When in VG mode, then some of your infamy is taken away to be turned into prestige, when out of VG mode, then you get full infamy. -
If they lower the cost amount on everything, that just means that the bigger VG's (villain groups) will have MORE stuff in there base & have a a BIGGER base.
Personally, I see the DEV's are trying to make this game last a long time, by them making the changes that they are making (which I have no problem with), they are accomplishing what they wanted to do.
All I hear are people crying over how long it's going to take them & that they don't have enough to do what they want right away. Well you know what, play more often then. You know what, Rome wasn't built in a day & neither is your base. Build a room, put what you want in it, then move on to the next room. That's how it's going to work, that's how it's going to be.
Then again, you might want to get more people in your VG to make more money rather than just a few RL people. If you say that you shouldn't have to do that, then you are missing the point of a base.
The bases are meant for raids on each other, it's that simple. Stop trying to turn it into something that it's not. If you want to use your base for PvE, what's the point in that? I can create a base.....yahoo! Good for you. For those of us that are actually using the base for what it was intended to be used as, which is raiding each other for POWER, then we will work hard to get to where we want to be & we deserve everything we get in our base. We are managing just fine & to ask that something be changed after it has been tested over & over again is just rude. Maybe you aren't doing something correctly, maybe you don't understand a certain part of the game & are frustrated & are just lashing out at the DEV's because "it's always their fault". Well if that's that case, I can only show you the door, you have to walk through it.
Please stop making this into an issue & just follow the rules & have some fun.
BTW, my VG is about 15 strong & we already have 4 rooms (entrance room, control room, works room, & power room). Sure I can't build anything in it yet because of the rent & for what I want to go into those rooms costs alot, but the workstation room is completely done & built. Now it's time to move onto the control room where I will build what is needed for what I currectly have in the base. I can worry about what is coming later.....later. Next will be the power room, and so on & so on.
It's all fun people, take it for what it is, not what you want it to be. If you want it different, then go make your own game & allow us to play this one in peace.
Just my 2ยข's, not directed at anyone specific. Consider it constructive criticism.
