  1. The Achilles Heel proc and the Fury of Gladiator proc stack with each other.

I never bothered to check Bruising, but I have no reason to believe it doesn't stack with Achilles and Fury.

Of course, your going to want to focus on your "core" first, which I think means pick abilities while leveling up and put slots in them, then put DO/SO's in the slot, yeah it would be bad if didn't do that, thanks Nihilii =P
I guess you're probably trying to be funny, but just to be sure : this isn't anywhere near what I said or meant. Obitus explained it perfectly, there's nothing more and nothing less to it.

Teaming is just that...Teaming.If you wanna run off because you can then dont team tbh.
I could go with the same kind of logic ; if you can't keep up, if you can't contribute to the team, just don't team.

Thankfully, I'm more tolerant than that ingame. Up until some random schmuck tries to order me to play in an inefficient way to accomodate his own subpar playstyle, anyway.

To clarify, I'm fine with a reasonable and calm discussion asking to go at a slower pace, if there is a consensus on the team that the majority wants to play that way I'll just follow suit. However, if you're one of two or three guys getting killed over and over and start yelling at me to do things differently, I'm either going to ignore you or kick you depending on my mood and how rude you are. The weakest link doesn't get to bark orders.
  4. On a SR, I have to say I don't see the point of not getting the softcap, even if you build around Elude... It takes like 2-3 pool powers and a steadfast res/def.
  5. What EricHough was getting at is that the DoT damage for fire attacks in Mids is shown to be above the true average damage.

Additionally, you mentioned yourself you didn't consider 95% maximum tohitchance, Aid Self, Hasten, PB, BU and critical hits. That's a lot of factors that can account for that 25 DPS difference, not just the DoTs.
  6. I find there's many combos that allow you to steamroll through the normal game, and there's a point at which there's so much overkill damage even on +4/x8 you're better off splitting to raise overall speed. With that in mind (and the requirements in the OP ; i.e., if we were talking about level 35+ I'd pick all colds and no storm, but starting from level 1 and having level 40 as the goal, I prefer stormies as freezing rain is big), I'd go with 2 fire/shield brute, 2 fire/kin, fire/storm and fire/cold corruptors, and split them in 2 individual teams of 4 within the same mission.
  7. Here's what I'd go with for a MA/WP AV soloer, money no object.

Running SK - CAK - SK - CS as an attack chain while Hasten is up, SK - CAK - TK - SK - CS - TK while it's down. I picked Resurgence because I had a spare power pick.
  8. These chains do lower DPS, but have the advantage of bringing SL up more often, for more healing.

Softcapped to all 3, musculature alpha and perma-hasten (technically, a 0.3s gap - you could remove the regen tissue in Health and put a 4th slot in Hasten if it really bugs you). Capped accuracy up to level 54s on all powers without Soul Drain or Tactics. Could run Smite - MG - Gloom - Siphon Life, albeit with endurance woes in a long fight without additional mobs to fuel DC. SL is underslotted for damage, although between the Musculature Alpha, Fury, Soul Drain and AAO, the difference should be barely noticeable.

Now, I want to mention that in my opinion, going for the Musculature isn't very useful for a brute, especially a DM/SD one. With Fury, enhancements, Soul Drain and AAO, you're going to operate between 350% (Fury at 50, Soul Drain and AAO hitting 1 target) and 545% (Fury at 85, Soul Drain and AAO hitting 10 targets) damage. The Musculature Very Rare is going to give you about 32.5% damage (30% ignored by ED, 15% under ED that turn out to be ~2.5% on ED capped attacks). That's not even a 10% improvement in the best (or worst, depending how you look at it) case scenario.

That said, one good thing about the Musculature Alpha is that come I20, you can oneshot level 54s with the Judgement AOE.

Still, on a brute and especially on a DM/SD I'd rather go with the Cardiac or the Spiritual Alpha, either of which gives a more substantial boost to overall performance for such a character.
  11. After playing a bit further with the new incarnate slots on Test, I have to say I think you can go with pretty much anything and be insanely survivable. Even IOs are almost irrelevant compared to the sheer insanity of the new powers - i.e. the Barrier power is like a crashless Elude and Unstoppable rolled into one, with admittedly a much shorter duration, but it recharges every two minutes. I sat in groups of level 54 riktis (admittedly not the toughest of foes, but can still provide a challenge for a non-DM and old invul build) and I didn't have to even think about using Aid Self or clicking an insp, what little damage I took was healed by my seer pet (which was also buffing me for an extra 5% defense).

Frankly, I think even the best I19 builds will be relatively average compared to, well, the average I20 build - that is, assuming this goes Live like it is and not with a hefty round of nerfs.
  12. Ideally, I'd like reward equality, but given the history of this game, I prefer having intentive to run different TFs every week than just ITF - farm - ITF - farm all year long.

Not to mention the old story arcs are pretty boring, so I'd be in favor of revamping the content before revamping the rewards (although obviously the latter is faster than the former).

    Defence

If anyone dies repeatedly, it's their own fault. Not the tank not "doing his job", not the defender not buffing/debuffing. This game is easy enough for anyone to pick a squishie on SOs and survive, with the occasional death here and there. People who can't survive without a babysitter at all times most likely won't contribute enough to be worth the amount of effort it takes to keep them alive.

There's lots of valid reasons for being a poor player - maybe that person cares about the roleplay or socializing aspect more than the gameplay, maybe he simply just want to chill and kill foes effortlessly ; but being bad at the game is still a choice, a choice people have to live with. I'll never kick or even berate people for underperforming, but I won't hold their hand either. They can stay and enjoy the rewards silently doing their own thing, or speak up and ask for different team dynamics, or skill up and follow, or just leave the team.
  14. As you guessed, the level shift doesn't apply to the pylon.

You list yourself most of the differences between "paper" DPS and real DPS - although I think most of these things can be calculated in paper DPS with minimal effort.

I've found Aid Self to reduce DPS more than slightly, with each use you're spending 4.5 (? I think interruption time is included in the animation, but I'll admit I never bothered to test and time) seconds doing absolutely no damage.

One thing you didn't mention (and that might not necessarily apply to you, but can to some others) is lag. Input lag, everyone gets some, and it's best to press clicks half a second before they actually go off, during the previous attack animation, in order to have everything going off as it should - but then, there's situations in which you can't always do that. Then there's lag spikes, which can lower DPS considerably, but are of course more obvious.
  15. For a Spines/Fire I can see it would depend on what you are fighting... On a DM/Inv it really doesn't matter.
  16. Quote:
Is it worth it? It seems to me (though I'm inexperienced) like it would be better to aim for F/C and E/N in the 30s, using the extra slots to add additional layers of protection (optimized DP, +regen, ability to kill things faster, possibly more resists although they seem to be overslotted* if anything).
From experience, I agree with your analysis, although I try to shoot for 33% def for F/C/E/N (softcap with one luck insp) if I can fit it in without sacrifices. I've tried lots of different slotting on my invuls, and softcapping all 6 positions just doesn't seem worth it to me considering the tradeoffs.

Even the S/L softcap I'm not too crazy about, things that really hurt have tohitbuffs, defense debuffs or higher base tohit anyway. That doesn't mean I don't like S/L *defense*, every % helps, but I don't see any magical thing about the softcap in actual gameplay when you consider the above and also add secondary mutation, inspirations, teammate buffs, and so on.

    Fun with Apex

    You're (Wanted_NA) most certainly correct.

On the other hand, at some point you have to ask : how easy exactly does it have to be?

More often than not, the difference between having the "right" ATs or not is the difference between a very easy TF and a merely easy one, or a completion time of 20 minutes against a completion time of 30 minutes (which, admittedly, can be big for people who have limited playtime... If that benefit wasn't nullified by sitting around for 15 minutes during recruiting to get the "right" ATs).

There's one thing I'll give build elitists, it's the Barracuda SF. I did fail it a few times on groups of 4-5 people when we came without defenders or masterminds. Reichsman is tremendously hard to kill if you don't have the unphasing temp power or massive debuffs/damage.

    Other than that... Meh!
  18. Nihilii

    Fun with Apex

To me, people asking for specific ATs in a LRSF are no more or no less funny than people asking for specific ATs in a Sister Psyche.
  19. I should just stick to "Obitus nailed it, this is what I was getting at", but I really want to mutter about kids, lawns, and people who act a bit too much like they know it all while showing at the same time a lack of knowledge of the core game mechanics ; and I'm still not talking about the alpha slot!
  20. "extremely high damage APP" leads me to believe you might go by Mids numbers, so I'll just mention they're twice higher than the actual damage ingame. Fire Blast < Smite and Fireball is a standard damage AoE (with small bonus DoT).

Brute is certainly a lot tougher, and will only become more so judging by the new incarnate slots with I20 - the res/def buff, for example, is going to benefit Brutes a lot more thanks to their higher resistance cap.
  21. Your replies continue to baffle me, Deevian. I've never suggested that anyone should use common IOs or ignore set bonuses. My argument is that one shouldn't ignore core stats while doing so. If all the core stats are covered, then it's all good.
  22. I think there is an option in Architect to be invincible during testing. If this also applies to your pets, presumably you could do just that and go whack on an AV with no resistances/defenses/heals, then use a slightly different formula to calculate your DPS from that.

Don't quote me on that, but I think it should be something like (AV hp / time) + 93.5.

As for level shift, well, it's part of your DPS. I'm rather baffled as to why people act like it doesn't count, or is cheating or whatever. For all intents and purposes it's there and I think it's there to stay. If you start from a theorical level 50 DPS rather than your real DPS, the calculations get more complicated when you try to figure how much DPS you'll deal against a higher level mob. Still, if you prefer to have it that way, I think all you'd have to do would be to divide by 1.11 .
  23. Personally, I enhance core powers individually first and foremost, and then and only then, care about getting some set bonuses. The difference between, say, 80% recharge and 130% recharge in set bonuses isn't that large when you consider you also have 70% recharge from Hasten, 32% from the Spiritual Core and 80-90% from recharge slotting in the specific power.

This isn't to say you can't do both, but I see many builds on the boards who lose tremendous efficiency in certain important areas due to a focus on some particular goal, be it softcap def or X% recharge, so I think it's worth saying.
  24. "TOS ingame are slightly laggy on my computer and forces me to accept each time I login rather than only once at launcher in a doubleclick."

    apparently leads to the answer

"OMG WTF why do you ***** about this for no reason STOP OVERREACTING what's the big deaaaaal rrrraaaarrrrgggghhhh *drops down with foam at the mouth*"

    Fanboy goggles sure seem fun.

Meanwhile in the real world... Numerous factual complaints have been made about the NCSoft launcher, such as it being a performance hog, crashing, causing blue screens, and so on. Sticking your fingers in your ears and pretending the problems don't happen because they don't happen to you personally works when you're a toddler who doesn't want to eat his vegetables regardless of how many starving african kids stories mommy tells him, but it's kind of a silly attitude to have as an adult.
