The best DM/SD build?

I've been playing around in Mids for about a week now and I can't seem to find the perfect balance between recharge, defense, and damage. I want my brute to be def soft-capped for all three positional defenses, I want perma-hasten, and I want it all while being able to take musculature as my alpha slot.

So tell me, am I asking too much? Is it even possible to attain all these things? If so, could someone please give me some advice on how to reach this level of awesome?

Money and time are not an issue for me, as this is a character I plan to play exclusively for a VERY long time, and I want to make him as good as possible.

Here's a quick attempt at it :

Softcapped to all 3, musculature alpha and perma-hasten (technically, a 0.3s gap - you could remove the regen tissue in Health and put a 4th slot in Hasten if it really bugs you). Capped accuracy up to level 54s on all powers without Soul Drain or Tactics. Could run Smite - MG - Gloom - Siphon Life, albeit with endurance woes in a long fight without additional mobs to fuel DC. SL is underslotted for damage, although between the Musculature Alpha, Fury, Soul Drain and AAO, the difference should be barely noticeable.

Now, I want to mention that in my opinion, going for the Musculature isn't very useful for a brute, especially a DM/SD one. With Fury, enhancements, Soul Drain and AAO, you're going to operate between 350% (Fury at 50, Soul Drain and AAO hitting 1 target) and 545% (Fury at 85, Soul Drain and AAO hitting 10 targets) damage. The Musculature Very Rare is going to give you about 32.5% damage (30% ignored by ED, 15% under ED that turn out to be ~2.5% on ED capped attacks). That's not even a 10% improvement in the best (or worst, depending how you look at it) case scenario.

That said, one good thing about the Musculature Alpha is that come I20, you can oneshot level 54s with the Judgement AOE.

Still, on a brute and especially on a DM/SD I'd rather go with the Cardiac or the Spiritual Alpha, either of which gives a more substantial boost to overall performance for such a character.

I guess I never really thought of it that way. If I want to be able to solo AVs, what do you think would be the best alpha slot and epic pool? I would assume cardiac so that I can last the 20-30 minutes it takes to solo an AV?

Which epic pool/alpha power could vary. For instance, you could go with the energy mastery pool, take superior conditioning (bonus end) and physical perfection to boost up your recover/end and then go with the spiritual alpha to boost your recharge. Then slot a bit more end reduction in your attacks if you need it. Or you can slot mostly recharge in your attacks, go with another epic pool and take the cardiac - if you do that soul mastery is probably a good epic/patron pool to take - gloom is pretty much the best DPA attack a brute can take and darkest night is a nice debuff, mostly for the -damage in it, as AV's will resist the -to hit.

Get some damage in siphon life - its one of your best attacks and in a high recharge build you are going to be spamming it often enough that even unbuffed, the heal is going to be impressive. One suggestion I have seen on the scrapper boards is 3 golgi's and 3 nucleolus (hamidon enhancments) - that takes 6 slots but will cap accuracy, damage, heal and end reduction - it does rely on global recharge though. If you have to stick with 5 slots I would recommend dropping one of the golgi's - that would drop you to 66% heal and end reduction but leave accuracy and damage capped. With that slotting and your current build siphon life would still have a 3.7s recharge.

Check on the scrapper board for other siphon life slotting suggestions - since you went with the pyre mastery pool you could pretty much adapt any of the scrapper DM/SD builds - here is a thread where they kicked around DM/SD builds a lot:
