Lets get one thing clear here I'm not sure I'd agree with the EU servers being "on life support", however the small populations are dwindling slowly and as for empty zones this is sometimes a mis-conception due to the game instances.
The fact that we will not get a boxed edition of GR (lets not forget this is a major expansion) or maybe any advertising means that the chances of attracting new EU players are small. No doubt some players will return the see the new shinyness however I'd imagine without anything else to promote it this will be shortlived.
Where does that leave us, possibly becoming slowly extinct. I like to team, this is an online MMO after all and I always said I'd be the last on when they shut the servers, but without any team-mates...perhaps not. -
Quote:No, I never have and I never will, I realise I am just a customer here and of course have no say at all in what they do. However as a customer I would like expectations, if indeed the answer is none then at least I can make an informed decision as to whether I should move stateside or perhaps even think about something else.Even if the answer is "none," do you feel like snark and trying to tell them who pays their salaries will increase that?
Quote:There's no counterpoint to make. I sympathise with the plight of the EU side of the game. I knew it was a huge mistake as soon as I heard about it, and I had to turn down several offers to move to the EU side of the game. They were really recruiting back then, but there wasn't any point. There has never been any point. That much ought to be obvious now.
Quote:However, I see complaints of lack of forum activity on the EU forums, which is actually made by PLAYERS going there, making me wonder why other European players felt the need to have "their own" forum when that's pretty much what I expected to happen to it. I simply instantly lose respect for complaints, even when they may be valid, when they come off as a snarky rant. -
Quote:I can only imagine that you are replying to the OP. As the only "snark and sarcasm" that I see in this thread beyond that is in your post. Rpgguy is clearly not happy about things EU, a view shared by at least some of that community.Ugh... Threads like this...
Put it this way, I'd debating between going "Needs moar entitlement!" or "Cry me a river." Seriously, despite what the Internet may have taught you, snark and sarcasm do not actually make your point stronger and do not make people get your requests processed faster.
Furthermore, General Discussions is NOT a US reservation-only location, since the forums are no longer location segregated. If you feel constrained in the EU forums, then you have only yourself to blame for constraining yourself there. The only reason people asked for it was because people wanted a place to themselves. Well, you got it, and now you're not happy with it being just by yourselves. Um... Sorry?
And, yeah, go ahead and accuse me of bias because I own the US version. I still live in Eastern Europe.
My posts I feel are fair and fairness was actually the point of them. As for getting requests processed faster lol what requests are they processing?
Bias nope, but if you wish to make a counter point, then please do... -
Lol Coin nice.
Reminds me of the time I printed out one of my comics for my 5 year old son to look at. Atferwards I said "isn't Night Hornet great?", he replied "no he's rubbish, I like Hailstorm".
He then ran around the room pretending to fly saying "I'm Hailstorm, I'm Hailstorm"
Damn kids -
I posted some stuff before, but I love this latest commission done for me by Rai

Quote:I agree with this 100% and I can feel your empathy FL, but no player-base will be patient indefinitely.I have a good bet that it does, in fact, bother the developers that a portion of their playerbase is upset. Don't start raving about how you're the ugly duckling and that you're going to be voted out of the pond. Don't be like the band of PvPers that up and left. Their leaving is what made the decision to put PvP on the backburner. Why? Because the change would cater to no one. If you give up on them, they'll do the same.
I wish to make it clear that I'm not crying "victim" here, I love this game and I'm only posting because I care about it and the EU community.
I am happy that the devs do post, but lately it's just words and the net result may well be more EU players leaving. I'm sad to say that some of my best in-game friends have left in the past year.
I guess they're waiting to see what effect GR will have on our population, but without some action instead of a portion of their player-base upset they could eventually end up with a portion less of their player-base. -
Quote:It's a nice idea, although you could argue that this is NCSoft's job...I know I hardly ever post, and I'm usually no good at saying things the right way, but instead of moaning about the rough deal we're getting why can't we, the EU, actually DO something ourselves to get more players? I know in the 3 years I've been playing that at least 3 of my friends took up subscriptions to the game, even if only briefly, but that was 3 more than it would have been as they'd never heard of the game before!
(
I have myself encouraged friends to play and successfully in the past. However without a boxed edition it's tricky, in this "I want everything now" culture, people don't want to wait for a 4gb download. Also what can I show them - a game with a dwindling population
I still maintain that as there will be no boxed GR here, they should produce some trial discs (with an up to date client) to go into game stores, that at least could have some effect, hell I'll arrange the distribution -
To be fair, I get the above statement about Paragon Studios and NCSoft, however I still think that the treatment of this “minority market” is somewhat unfair.
As a customer I feel slightly ripped off in what I consider value for money compared to NA players. My subscription is the same of course.
For example as someone who loves alts, I have paid out around $60 to have extra slots. This is because I have only 2 English servers to choose from, where as NA players have 11. Imagine the position of the French and German players who only have one. Hardly fair is it?
NA gets boxed releases giving their community a chance to grow and develop, the EU has nothing on the shelves and therefore players like myself have to stand around and watch our servers slowly die without any real hope of any potential improvement. Also as someone said, not every EU resident has great broadband, so downloading the client (as we don’t have a boxed edition) can be a mammoth task, especially for a potential new player.
I love running teams but struggling to get a team together of more than 4 or 5 on many occasions (peak times) is disheartening (yes I use the popular channels). It’s all very well being able to have toons on 11 servers, meaning you are almost certain to find some action somewhere, imagine if you only had two or even one server to choose from!!
When the Brighton team was in full force we had player events/ meet and greets etc. now nada.
Now it seems that that pre-order bonuses with be US only, yes this is no bid deal – but it’s the principle.
The solution?
1)Work out the difficulties and merge the servers.
2)If this is not possible in the short term then reduce our subs until some sense of fairness/parity can be achieved.
Despite being the most passionate gaming community I’ve been involved with, it seems the EU community counts for nothing other than being fobbed off from time to time.
Yes no doubt some smart a*#e will tell me to quit and make a US account and stop moaning, but why should I give up all my stuff and what friends do remain in the game?
I wonder if the NA player-base was disadvantaged in someway, what the reaction would be. -
So...
As subscribers we (the EU) are already disadvantaged by only having 2 English servers and therefore less slots.
There are no longer player events here.
There won't be a boxed edition of GR here and therefore not much hope of a big increase in the population because of that...Lets not forget they also had a boxed MA version too.
Now NA players can get pre-order items that we may not be able to obtain.
The result =
Perhaps we are guilty of caring more about the game than Paragon Studios care about the EU. Like some above, I grow bored by vague talk and no action and I feel slightly ripped off that I pay the same as our NA friends but seem to be getting less and less for my hard earned money.
In fact this thread seems to me to be an after thought, kinda like "Ooops what about the EU? Hmmm better make a quick thread".
I do love this game but fairness is a solid principle for any customer base. We are not asking for anything more, just an equal footing. -
I liked the series and the finale, however I still maintain that the writers/producers just made it up as they went along with no clear idea of how to tie it all up.
For me the finale summed this up, I did enjoy it as it went back to what the show was about - the characters, however the finale brilliantly side-stepped giving most explanations while still being kind of satisfying.
As Jack is told "Everything that happened to you was real", we can presume the island was real and that the 815-ers did not die in the crash. So although we got a reunion at the end, they managed to avoid giving full explanations, which I don't think they actually have.
That being said, I found the finale emotional and the last 5 minutes were beautifully handled. -
A Paragon Museum – a building that anyone could enter and look around, this could contain artefacts from COH lore and dev statues etc – you could even run a huge competition the feature a player or two in there.
A Paragon Art Gallery – similar to the Museum, again you could run a competition to feature some fan art in there.
More interesting billboards – perhaps with heroes advertising products, e.g. “Positron loves Arctic’s Ice Cream” or “Synapse says slow down when attempting to cross the road”
Newspaper HQ – something along the lines of Daily Planet/Bugle
A Zoo – busy with citizens with an occasional mob entering there could be fun
A high security prison in PI, this could house the most dangerous villains, not sure if it could be done but a game mechanic where an AV breaks out from time to time could be a lot of fun. -

All the signature heroes are called to meeting by Statesman, as it begins they are all suddenly held helpless in a stasis field. Statesman powers down, what hes a robot?!?!
Lord Recluse enters the room, takes off his mask and laughs manically What? He is Statesman, weve been lied to all this time and now his plan is complete. The world will never be the same again.
The streets are empty the citizens have all fled the city in terror, dark clouds rumble overhead, only the lesser known heroes are left to tackle forces which they cannot hope to defeat
COH2! -
The comrade hero piece is looking real good, can't wait to see it finished.

If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest.
Global warming....what global warming? -
Another great issue!
Others have said this and I agree, I'm very jealous of your ability to produce these things so quickly, well done -
-
It's a good idea for a piece and it could be very intersting, looking through your DA gallery there's some great pieces there, I love the kinda 1940s look some of them have.

I did ask this question several times to different Devs on Test last night.
Sadly the question was either ignored or I got "ask marketing" type replies.
Not wholly unexpected but disappointing never the less. -
My favorite memory, was returning to the game after an enforced break. I had friends in my SG and I was one of the leaders. However due to my latest marriage break-up I went awol for about 3 months, with moving home etc etc.
When I finally returned it seemed like a big deal to people...boy that made me feel wanted! -
Quote:Indeed, actually I did a test, I asked 4 questions, 3 relating to this subject (including suggestions) and the 4th question was a joke one "do you like vodka?", all emailed at around the same time.Same here Hornet.
Apperantly there where 1000, so some began in the beginning, some in the middle and some at the end.
The answering did however end too quickly.
They did answer one of my questions:
Well at least I now know they don't like vodka...which means more for me! -
