  1. One thing I noticed.

When Tyrant EXPLODES, he calls upon the Souls of the Dead.

He uses the power of Tartarus to bind the souls of fallen heroes in the pretty red dream prison.

He says the souls he bound are escaping when he's defeated.

Pendragon, one of his subordinates, is head of the Black Knights. (I think)

Shadowhunter is dead. Diabolique is a spirit.

And Night Ward is a prison for the souls of the dead.

Tyrant is ENSNARING THE SOULS OF THE DEAD to increase his own power. I think Night Ward is going to be the definitive "Tyrant is actually an evil jerk" moment.

So far he's been... Ambiguous. All of the other Praetors? Totally Evil.

Tyrant? Not a lot of visible evil.

Until now. That's pretty visible. I have a feeling we'll finally meet Praetorian Stefan Richter as well. If he's not in the Well, he's in Night Ward.
    Probably.
  2. I like how the Titan Weapons character had no toggles. At all.

We didn't even get to see any of the new Incarnate Powers (which he may have had), because he wouldn't have known how to turn them on. He had a vorpal t1 on his tray he never clicked. It was silly.
  3. Exactly. It's about flexibility.

My character (an escaped Olympian Guard), was talking to my friend's character (an escaped Seer). She mentioned putting Mother Mayhem away.

Now, I was only 42, so I had not run Minds of Mayhem yet. In addition, I had just finished an RP runthrough of First Ward, so Tilman was still fresh on my mind.

But rather than argue, I just ignored it. It's easier to let stuff slide sometimes.
  4. On an underground trial, before the WarWalker fights, it's a good idea to have the person leading Desdemona remain in the room BEFORE the AV. This will prevent her from being defeated.

During the Avatar of Hamidon fight, she can't die, so don't worry so much there.
  5. Yeah, I think if nothing else, AT LEAST First Ward will be safe.

I expect Imperial City (where most people actually live) will be partially damaged, but it'll survive.
  6. I'd have it cost the same as ATs do now. 1000-1200 points.

Depending on how many power sets you get, it could be a bargain.

I do wish I could grab it for free, but economics are economics. :P
  7. I heard something about a new trial.

I'm hoping for a new powerset. Psychic Melee, like Penny has.

Or new Praetorian Things. Like an epic AT. Runesoilders would make me happy... Even though I can just make one now. I own Beam Rifle...

I've fallen back in love with Praetoria ever since I made my Olympian Guard.
  8. I suppose you have a point. I am just worried that the devs would be reluctant to do it...
  9. Kheldians and Soldiers of Arachnos have access to special story arcs related specifically to their story. Which is cool.

    ...However, there are several issues.

    1) Compared to newer missions, the old epic arcs are... Old.

    2) Should you switch alignments, the epic storyline is abandoned.

So, here is my suggestion: Let's make the Epic Arcs epic, using the more recent arcs as a model.

Suggestion 1: Open Epic storyarcs to everyone.
This is a practical measure more than anything. Content for 10 ATs is more economically viable than content for four.

We have technology in place that allows us to add special dialogue to missions based on alignment, badges earned, and prior choices. Thus, we can offer special options and dialogue to players of the appropriate Archetypes.

So, the Kheldian arcs focus on the Kheldian War. For a normal AT, you're a normal hero offering assistance. For a Peacebringer, contacts might be more open with you. Warshades might not be trusted as much. Certain allies and enemies may or may not appear.

The VEAT arcs are all about being a Destined One. Normal Villains already are destined. VEATs will have to sneak their name onto the list as per usual.

Suggestion 2: Let the arc carry over to the other side at level 20.

At level 20, you can get a special Moral Choice mission, allowing your character to turn coats. It works like the moral choice missions in Praetoria: at a key point, you need to choose to remain your current alignment, or to swap sides. This works regardless of whether or not you have the Going Rogue alignment system. It's a freebie. You can only do it once, though.

If you decide to turn coats, your story branches.

    Take VEATS for an example.

Normally, the story follows you as you break free from your faceless mook status and become a true Destined One. If you Choose to "Screw Destiny" at level 20, you'll have to deal with Arachnos as they try to force you into the destiny you created for yourself, whether you like it or not.

Suggestion 3: Have Utility Arcs on both sides. This is mostly VEAT specific, as Kheldians are self contained. But the arcs needed to unlock your bonus costume slot and Patron Pools are side locked, which (If you use your free alignment change) is a PAIN.

So, tossing the ability for VEATs to grab a free costume slot and patron pools on one of their blueside contacts would be a good idea.

    What do you think? Reasonable?

    New ATIO proc

I six slotted it into Venom Grenades on my Crab, which seems to be working very well at the moment. I'm a relatively low level crab, so Venom is my Alpha Strike for now, and having the big pile of debuff helps a lot. I might move it or change it later, though.
  12. ...I will admit that all of Red Side feels similar.

Not because it is, because it has far more archtectural and thematic variation than Paragon City's older zones.

It's just that it's depressing. It's a perpetually overcast chain of islands. Every zone has some district in a varying state of destruction. The citizens are begging for money so they can leave.

It's a brilliant example of an oppressive, overt dictatorship. But the thing is, you're in an oppressive, overt dictatorship.

When I made my first villain, I longed to reach Grandville. Surely the home of Lord Recluse would be a palace.

Then I saw a big (impressive) oppressing tower surrounded by slums.

That's not to say they don't have villas, Or fancy cities. St. Martial is wonderful when you explore it, but every tine I ouro in, it dumps me near some powerlines. After a while, I just wanted to go to a park.

So, that's my reasoning. I just don't like be atmosphere.

Unfortunately for old Gil, rebuking her interests also does not end well.

Though if this were true, I would demand we drop Pappa Smurf and get Gilgamesh to step up as our new Incarnate Lore instructor, desiring revenge against the Well for killing Enkidu.

And she makes people climb block towers for convoluted reasons!*

Really though. I have a strong feeling it's someone who we've met before (or at least someone similar to someone we've met before), rather than an entirely new NPC.

Though the Rularru theory holds minor credence, as I remember seeing some sort of Well... thingy, that looked like a tiny wispy Rularru. But it can't actually be Rularru.

...It could be Darrin Wade, that would be silly.

Whoa, is that looks like a Magical Ms. Liberty.

Oh, right. I was thinking, with Mot loose, maybe some revamped Skulls outfits would be cool. Not that it's hard to make them already.

You guys have been doing awesome so far.

Deep in the coffer's interior, far deeper than its outer dimensions would seem to allow, glimmered a soft spark, the final taunt in the trap her curiosity had inadvertantly sprung... buried under all the afflictions and horrors she'd unleashed upon the world... hope.

All Hope was in the box; she could find none within herself.

The box tumbled towards the floor as she brought her hands to her face to press against weeping eyes. It struck with the muted thunder of doom; flinging the spark of hope high and wide from its tumbling. The ember described a graceful arc through the air, leaving the faintest impression of a rainbow in its wake.

The landscape around the sobbing girl was ravaged, torn assunder by the passage of the horrors she'd unleashed. The only thing left standing was the broken shell of a river stone ring that had once been her family's well. The spark of hope reached the apex of its short leap and began to descend directly towards that gaping wound in the earth.

A hand reached out and caught it, halting its journey. When the hand caught the spark it was a crude mixture of talon and paw, hooked fingers built for snatching and thievery. The moment the spark touched those scaly digits they shifted and flowed into human semblance. In later years the man who now held the fate of the world would be known by other names... Crow... Loki... Steelclaw... In the box he had only been Mischief... but the spark had lent him power and vision of the myriad of possible futures for this world.

A sharp and wicked grin spread his features as he selected the chain of events that would prove to be the most... entertaining.

He brought the spark to his lips and whispered to it. It's glow had been unerringly blue but as he instructed and cajoled, it began to pulse with streaks of reds and vibrant purples. With a wide and manic smile he held his hand out over the well's maw, then turned it to allow the spark to complete its journey.

He lifted Pandora to her feet from where her misery had left her collapsed.

"Now, now, my dear..." he crooned, collecting one crystaline tear from her cheek with the knuckle of one finger. "No need to cry. Soon enough there will be heroes who will rise to fight the enemies of man you've unleashed today. Come with me and we shall watch together. I shall give you eternal life; you shall be my constant companion and we shall watch this child... this juggernaut of destiny... we have created together."

He was gentle as he helped her along the path towards the future. He knew he was likely damning her to an eternity of madness. But he hated attending the theater by himself.

But an entire world of people where EVERYONE had the potential to be a god... well... that would prove to be a show worth watching.
Steelclaw is totally the Well. Yes.

...I would actually have guessed Pandora if Prommy hadn't said the well was a "He". Hrm...

It's like a big font of power, basically. The Battalion, for instance, have increased their to the point of all being Incarnate, apparently, by feeding their Well with the Wells of conquered races.
The lore really does need compiling properly at some point...

    Oh, I know.

But he refers to our well, the human well, as a he. He also implies that it is a being who has agreed to the position.

ItÂ’s weird. I know. Also not fully confirmed, but the fact that he kerps talking to it like it's a person makes me wonder.
  18. So, since getting my stalker to 50, I have run all the trials. So last night I decided to chat up Prometheus, and I saw something rather interesting.

Namely, the Well is a he. A gendered personage.

It is strongly implied, if not outright said, that the Well used to be a person. A being who agreed to serve as an arbiter of power.

The question is... Who is it? I am going to make an assumption here, and assume the Well was once a human, as an alien serving as the arbiter of power would be silly.

However, the Well has existed for as long as humanity. So that poses kind of a Paradox. But then again, stable time loops are a thing.

So, who is it? We don't know. Prommy won't say.

I have a guess. It's a wild one, with little proof.

So, let's look at the Well. In his modern incarnation, he likes power. He likes it quite a bit.

Displays of power, in particular. Statesman was a wimp, Recluse is more appealing, Tyrant is the ideal.

This sounds kind of familiar. Who do we know that values displays of power over all things?

It's almost like if someone like this existed, they might... I don't know, have a small country. Maybe they would set up a social darwinism experiment. Test people's worth...

It's too bad no one like that exists...

    OH WAIT.

That does sound a lot like Lord Recluse, doesn't it? Maybe a bit less malicious, but the core value of "might makes right" matches up. Except he is obviously not the Well. He's too busy snogging Red Widow and trying to take over the world.

But there is another Stefan Richter. The Praetorian version. Who is dead. Prometheus conveniently mentions this. It's why the Talons are in First Ward.

But he died as he was about to drink from the well.

Now, my wild unproven likely incorrect theory is that this act of murder bound Stefan's consciousness to the well.
If he isn't the sole consciousness of the well, he's at least a part of it.

Obviously, there are counter-arguments to this.

1)Richter died after WW2. The Well has existed for all of human history. So for this to be true, time travel would need to be involved. This is the least of the issues with this.

2)The well is linked strongly to the minds of humanity. That is why the old well was (somewhat) honorable, while the new one is petty and capricious. The argument I made only makes sense for the modern well. Now, you can blame this on lots of things. Being thrall to the will of the species can do that. But it does cast doubt on this theory.

    3) The Well REALLY LIKES TYRANT. This is the biggest WTF of the theory. I have kind of a theory for this too. Aside from self preservation (the nominal reason for this favor), there is a certain irony I doubt would be lost on Richter. By giving himself to the well, Tyrant has become bound to it for life. He is an emperor and a slave. Wouldn't it be deliciously ironic if the being he was thrall to was the same person he killed in an attempt to keep power to himself?

Now, I have no proof. I am likely wrong. But it has to be someone, right?

I'd love to hear your guesses.
  19. You know what I would like the LFG to have?

An interface like the arena has.

It can go into more detail about the trials, including rewards, recommended levels, badge progress.

It would also list which events were forming at any given time. It lists the leader's name, the remaining slots, and a note from the leader. (sLam, Master's Run, etc.)

It would give people a better visual of what was going on, anyway.
  20. Oh, I never said my characters weren't incarnates. It fits with Frosty's theme, even if he isn't aware of it.

But lets be perfectly frank. Within the game lore, there are countless ways to explain incarnate powers. Deliberately.

Incarnate, in terms of in game use, is now more of a description of power level than an actual "I am an incarnation of a deity" thing.

There are countless ways to explain how you're an incarnate aside from just saying "Yo, I am a demigod now".

The Well of basically connected to everyone, whether that person derives their powers directly from it, or from some outside means like gadgets. It's not a manner of ignoring the lore, but a manner of personally acknolwedging it.

After all, Hero-1 never knew he was an incarnate. You don't even need to run Mender Ramiel's arc any more. You just need to prove yourself, and boom. Easy enough for any person to reach that power level without letting a puddle dominate their story.
  21. For Warfrost, my Street Justice/Ice Armor stalker, I went with the following.

Alpha: Spiritual. Easy enough to ignore.
Interface: Spectral. Frosty is a thermophage, and noms heat from people all the time. His blows can freeze people in place, or drain them of heat over time. There isn't a Cold interface yet, but... eh.
Judgement: Vorpal. I know, just throwing ice would be easier, but Frosty has always been equipped with Vanguard tech. It's how his various Teleportation powers from the market and reward pools are explained. Also he actually has Recall Friend because all Stalkers should have that. This is just a different application of that technology.
Destiny: Rebirth, for now. I'm hoping to eventually grab most of them. I might swap to Barrier for the resistance though. Rebirth is... It's a big AOE heal. Not that different from popping a Team Insp. Same if I grabbed Ageless. Clarion will be a Vanguard Issue Psychic Shield device. Barrier would be a Vanguard Issue Force Field. Incandescence is obviously just a Teleporter.
    Lore: Vanguard, natch. (Requesting backup!)
  22. I don't know about after the Coming Storm, but I have an interesting idea for an incarnate zone in general. Most likely during the storm.

    The Event Horizon

The bring of destruction. The edge of Oblivion. Here the echoes of lost potential float in the abyss. The question is... will humanity join the lost, or will the courage of the Incarnates be enough to hold off the darkness?

This is a zone that fits really well with the Coming Storm in general, but works just as well on it's own. The entrance is an Ouroboros platform floating in a vast, starry void, with earth floating distantly in the background. Directly ahead is a vast void, threatening to suck all of existence into it. This zone doesn't actually take place in space, however, but rather in the realm of The Well itself. In a Pre-Coming storm battle, it could represent the Batallion's force of potential advancing upon Humanity.

Regardless, Incarnates can move freely through the void without travel powers. There is ground. Invisible, but solid.

Surrounding the Void, are small flickering beacons of light. The remnants of lost worlds. By approaching one, Incarnates are transported into an echo of the world as it was before it's consumption. These districts are but shadows, but the beings trapped within are powerful and deadly. Basically, they'd either work like the Shadowed Paths (the district phases in as you enter it's borders), or as autoteleports (You're teleported to a separate part of the map when you enter).

The content involves exploring these shattered echoes of worlds to find a way to hold off the destruction of earth. Heroes can use the lost knowledge and memories of the conflict to steel themselves for the upcoming battle. Villains can claim what little power remains for themselves, consuming the few remaining drops of the potential like the Batallion did so long ago.

The iTrial, of course, turns the zone into an all out battlefield. The void draws upon the power of it's prisoners, and Incarnates must travel the Event Horizon and battle the Champions of each echo to sever the Batallion's (?) ties with it.

If nothing else, it would look pretty.
  23. Hrm...

Well, Hasten would help for sure. I guess I could start with that.
  24. Okay, I have a problem. See... I made an Ice Stalker, and went totally overboard on the softcap.

As a result, I've hurt my build in other ways. Namely, recharge. Hoarfrost is not perma. Damage is fine as far as I can tell. But that perma hoarfrost eludes me.

Here's my build. Please please please tell me what I can fix? I know I have far too much S/L defense.

Also, I didn't even notice I broke law of 5 on Accuracy. Huh...
