Thanks for the well wishes, everyone.

My position is 'potentially redundant' within the Brighton office, and at the current time I intend to accept voluntary redundancy. I'm not interested in living in the US.

In the long run Australia is a better proposition. Will you be thinking of heading back?
  2. I dislike the idea of people losing their jobs, end of, story. In fact I only like to see people 'get on' really. That goes for everyone. It'll hurt me to know GRs gone as I think he made "it" as a moderator.

All these job losses on our continent is really effecting my ability to have fun. I may start looking to support games that are primarily from our continent.

Confuse is often better than anything else. You pick the right one to either help your team and/or turn on their own. I know you can one shot Sappers but I much prefer seeing them turn on their own men. Some people would rather me fort them and/or AB them so they take the sapper out but I have logged in to play a Controller. Same with Tanks, if I wanted to play like a Scrapper I would of logged in with one.

Now if we apply this to the game world it would generally mean that most people who have been playing a long time tend to know the game mechanics better and so have better understanding how to perform well in the game. Agreed?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's a common mistake for people to think or hope they know more than they do. Self included. I place teamwork around concept above performance (which is generally making things as least challenging as they can possibly become but that can be the result of a challenge).

    Mind Control

Yeah I know what you mean. As you can see I happen to like Scrappers. Its easy for two people to have two counter acting powers going off on the same target at the same time. I've often said sorry for my opener countering someones better opener. It comes with adjusting on how we work together. Failing to adjust and constant compromising of other people often says nothing bad about a powerset, just the people who play them or with them.
  6. New Dawn

    Mind Control

My first toon was Mind/Emp. From the early levels as of lvl 10 you could create complete and utter total safety for teams. We all have powers that can be counterproductive to our own and other peoples and so awareness of that in order to take full advantage of that safety is advised.

I generally find Scrappers the best AT to team with as one.

The problem with Mind and Empathy going together is one that shows up when you have team dynamics that doesn't best help you to help the team. Each power can only be cast one at a time and each one comes with a cast time. Timing and order comes into play.

It's best advantage is with obtaining pets. People do like to attack a confused enemy say a Medic whilst a unconfused PP is stabbing them in the back though.

Some people play in a way that having a Illusion is best for them, some people play in a way that having a bubbler is best for them. A Mind/Emp can be as good as any around people that can play to suit any.

In teams, with other controllers, Mind control can go for lack of graphical effects unnoticed. You can also have other controllers canceling your powers out. You could mass confuse but then another could aoe hold them. I find its best to feel like your contributing in other ways at such times and the secondary becomes my main focus.

Your using the word "sheep" there, to me that means they all agreed the food was good but didn't think so or atleast you didn't think they felt that way. Then you gave a subjective opinion based on what you think the majority would agree on.

Now by using the majority as a baseline to determine the clear rights and wrongs we are going with the flow, and doing what everyone else does and so become like the sheep.

    Paradox?
  8. New Dawn

Your bordering on why I don't like to see people use the words "needed" or "must-have". It's a way of trying to limit others with your own limitations but having said that I am sure many of my staminaless toons have come to limit others with my limitations but then I might have other flexibilities.

Ingame I may say somit in quick note form as I have only so much time to kill my target and/or prefer people to try to look and things in the highest light and this can go from what was from me a suggestion to them a order.

I do have some experimental..well masochistic builds and so when I see other peoples experimental/concept builds I would be pot-kettle in telling people what they should get.

I will say get taunt tho which should go without saying
  9. Why can't I get the combat attributes of people in PvP? And the AVs, I couldn't read them neither for some reason which includes death by AVs, missing, death by opportunistic "half pvpers". I managed to try testing what I did....

    Considering a reasonably full RV!1!!

It's the same thing to me, there has been a string of players coming on forums, not being openly obvious about who they are and making comments.

I don't get the need to correct people tho, if I left the game, I'd of left it. It's not like you can save the world or anything.

This me doing somit whilst zoning and making dinner.

Sure, I'll throw a MAJOR hissy fit whenever I see a VEAT in my team without Tactical Training: Maneuvers. But if I'm leading, I won't kick them. I'll tell them they really really REALLY should get it the next time they level up and get to choose a new power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I haven't got it. Level 20 so far and not even looked at it. Anyone that would kick me from a team for not having a power on my character that they think I should have is not someone I would team twice with. My character, my choice.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I find this acceptable but here is the thing with me. Your characters odds on more likely to be a little more offensive. You will get in trouble from having a greater threat level. My characters got the maneuvers but as a result of slotting it, I may do less attack chains to the end bar, and have less threat, your in trouble, I am not, I need end rec for more dps..but its only because "i r ebul!" I wouldn't think twice bout turning mine off.

Thing is, this in itself is actually very elitist as you're saying you don't want to play with other people, just the ones you consider to be fun and good to play with.

Elitism goes more than one way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you had any idea about the amount of PuG's i create and lead to most people's enjoyment then you would not have said that. I think it takes a lot of effort to lead a team and make sure everyone's not only enjoying themselves, but going at a good pace. This includes New players as well as Old. I do my best to make friends everywhere and to help people whenever i can. Any insinuation that i am in any way Elitist is frankly, offensive.

I think I have met you in game, you have a villain MM with Storm secondary by any chance?

Yeah I've been told to shut up a few times. There is a lack of individual respect but you have to expect some people to have no class.

I always revert back to what someone said someone said

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it".

Edit: Due to EULA, your right to say somethings may have to be said elsewhere.

Alas, no. After the tanker left, the only other (IMO) decent blaster also decided to leave, losing the level 38 scrapper his SK so he'd have been facing +4's, and it had already taken 2 hours by this point. I was on my level 50 fire/ice blaster, exemped down to 42, so couldn't SK him...

Because I have already said but the warning went unheeded at everyones expense its time for a disciplinary hearing..

So ya see not like work at all

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had an ITF a bit like that the other night... Such fun when you have a tanker which:

    1. Doesn't have taunt
    2. Doesn't speak to the rest of the team, except to say "AFK" in the middle of a rather large mob of elite bosses on lag hill.
    3. Doesn't listen to the rest of the team when we say how we're going to handle a particular mob. (and in fact, decided to go annoy the Minotaur and the Sybil right after being told specifically to keep the hell away from them, and triggering the rather large waves of Nictus that ensue...)
    4. Is suffering from a seriously bad case of scrapperlock

I lost count of the number of teamwipes we had before he decided to quit at the start of the final mission...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I hope you finished it.

Tankers are often over rated and unnecessary. I like diverse teams myself and think that peoples concepts are 99/100 fine and maybe there to challenge me. How we can learn to play together is the most important part and sometimes its quicker ironing out the mistakes to get there. Often you can have one person on their own team and everyone else playing along in their team.

So it was less a "We've been here longer and discussed this before", and more "We've got an open threads on this subject, we've had 8 in the last month and don't want to repost the arguements we've put in those threads."

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's like when people want someone to do a build for them, a person could end up doing a build for someone everyday. When do they get to play the game? It's like anything, use the search function. Don't expect things to be "a first" there is normally some info on it somewhere.

There is holier than thou and elitism about. Sometimes its not in the places you think it is, as sometimes its not intentional but sometimes, othertimes, it is and you've got that person dead bang but the one fact you can live with is that you don't have to and IMO shouldn't have to put up with anyone.

    [ QUOTE ]
I think the worst form of elitism is if your team fails a TF, for whatever reason, and one player blames another, singularly, for the failure. Having been the target of such an attack myself (as the healer), it's hard not to feel a little wounded.

For that reason, im generally quick to avoid teaming with players who consider themselves above reproach.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was on a VEAT and I got the team wiped the other day....

I can't remember the exact conversation but anyways it was something like this:

    I said:

    <----My fault

    They said:

That's okay we don't do blame culture here.

    I roughly said:

I underestimated the number of foes in the area and so I started the fight at a bad fight point so my bad.

    They said:

It's okay we are not looking for someone to blame.

    I said:

<---It's my fault, nothing wrong with accepting responsibility. The key thing is us knowing what went wrong and why it went wrong.

    When we regrouped someone said:

    What to we do now?

    I said:

We should come from the right, we will be able to cull their numbers better without taking on too much too soon.

So we did and we were all right and there was love and iced gems all round at the end of it.

I think there is a difference between name and shame and seeing what went wrong and deciding on what should of been done for all of us to know and learn by. Someone telling me a mistake I made doesn't get to my ego, it helps me become a better player. You can do all that without the whole thing turning into a school playground. It's like in business when things go wrong, you find out who was in control, what went wrong, why it went wrong and what steps you can put in place so it doesn't happen again. I don't care how leet people think they are we all make mistakes and its all part of being human. If we do not cover ground on whats going wrong and how to prevent it next time what we will see and has been known, people spending 6 months trying to even complete one single LRSF and that's not even the Master of.

There are times when people think you might be trying to establish yourself as a know all when your only trying to trade ideas. There is often more than one way of going about things and I like to hear other peoples ideas.

Example of a time when I will get fussed about someone:

Me: Whatever you do guys, don't press the red button..

    Someone: Why?

Me: No time to explain the clock is running out. Just don't do it and I'll explain after.

    Someone: *Pushes the red button*

Everyone wastes an hour of effort and we would have to go thru all that bleep again.

Now if I forgot to say don't press the red button then its my fault, I expect people to not go right ahead and do things they have no idea of what the consequence will be of, but every so often someone adds to the plan and faffs it all up. Because I have already said but the warning went unheeded at everyones expense its time for a disciplinary hearing..

    ELECTRIFY!

With elec melee, the usefulness of some of the sec effects like sleep change depending on what you pair it with. I think this is to allow for some form of balance between secondaries that -fight duration and secondaries that don't so, should come free as a secondary effect and not factor into loss of damage as a result.

Elec Blast well, I wonder..but some powers are fairly effective that make up for ones that aren't and paired with other powers you can have one helluva enjoyable and supportive toon thats all I know
  23. I can confirm that according to my Combat Attributes I have seen my damage buff go from 30% to 60% but whether or not its worth it depends on the build and the whole attack chain.

What you may need to know is that one follow up is one SOs worth of extra damage to an attack, so when you have 3 SOs in the build that 1 SOs worth doesn't look like a lot. You effectively increase your damage output by 1/6th.

VEAT follow up cast 0.83s is pretty good tho.

Follow up is prolly better for ppl in lower lvls than build up.

and voila, payed for a fee i didn't wanted, that and some money gone for totally nothing, the thing i can use to buy food.
i already have payed for a month, and i want to cut the money use on games to eat and pay my taxes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The costume + mission transporter + free month of play has been the most worthwhile buy I've had in ages off of NCSoft.

Maybe we should not want to wait for a Valkyrie Booster Pack and see another pack come instead.

The mission transporter will have you crossing zones fast to your mission (think mission in shards) but only once every 2 hours but not if your like me who alts it alot in a single night and so will save heaps of time.

The free month of play makes the valkyrie and mission transporter very much value for money. I couldn't believe the cossie options I had.

I think if we are lucky these booster packs will become the future. Eventually we can have a free game that would have tonnes of new people swarming it and booster packs sold quarterly for more than enough money to keep things going.

I think if this game was free with booster packs it'll definitely pull more people in but that should be done when there is viably little more to do and...well scratch that we would have to see how the new competition turns out.
  25. Follow up should imo offer "theoretically" potentially better DPS from your attack chains if you can hit with it I'd say 2/3 times whilst Build Up offers Burst. I never cared to work it out for VEATs but I would assume its somit like that cos I still don't care much to work it out. You possibly can't have the best of both worlds basically set.
