Yeah. Let's go back to discussing squeezable D20s.

the leader of that tf was a powerlevelled noob who didnt know what bodyguard meant at 50.

with three ffg's going, statesman still one shot me and all my henchmen at once. we didnt have enough of the right kinds of debuffs to deal with absurdly overpowered heroes when we had no way of pulling them one at a time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was a mess and you have my apologies Jupiter.
Hope the rest of your week and playtime is better.
  5. Yeah, we just quit out of an all-MM run, believe it or not.

We had one MM quit at the very start (we had temp powers off and no defeats, trying for a Master run). Had one defeat in the first mission, inadvertently.

Everything went swimmingly until the last mission; we set up our MMs, I pulled Numina and we killed her. Then Posi, BaBs, Synapse came. We tried dropping Posi and couldn't (the others had killed two of the MMs at this point) so we regrouped and tried ANOTHER pull on Manticore, since he was away from the rest. Along came States, BaBs, Psyche and Posi. We worked on Posi for a while but States pulverized one of the MMs.

One of the MMs quit at that point, leaving us with 6. Tried a rush with no luck, called it a night.

By all means, our team SHOULD have been able to handle the Phalanx with ease but there was a lot of arguing about pulling, rushing, who to pull, how to pull, who to focus on etc. The leader wasn't really sure where to go with the TF, we tried to help him out but it just was interminable.

Sad part is, I'm sure if I did it with a different friend on his Spider we'd breeze it. :/
  6. Nah, you can get Hyper Phase, Shivans all that stuff while in AE mode or TF mode. They're special contacts.

Nerdy girls are kind of sexy. What can I say? It's a weakness.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only "kind of" sexy? How do you find anyone attractive if they're incapable of actually challenging you mentally? That's one of the reasons why I've only dated nerdy girls. No other girls can keep up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's plenty of qualifiers that go into the term sexy, of which intellectual prowess is but a small part. Because while I may find the mind of another enticing, there does exist the rest of the package that may prevent it from being more then a simple crush, or a hearty friendship.

Three out of five senses (Sight, Smell, Sound) need to be appeased in order to ensure that maximum comfort is retained while being in extended presence with said person. .

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's also the sixth sense in Canada, Hockey Sense.
If I walk up to a guy, ask him whether he prefers Crosby to Datsyuk, Leafs to Senators, Roy to Brodeur and he offers a blank stare, downward looking I will simply move on and find my comfortable seat in the pub.

    Funny thread by the way!

I think this was a rhetorical question. I think the OP was trying to express their disappointment in the game after 50.

I don't agree with the OP and fail to see their point.

    [/ QUOTE ]

not rue, this is my highest level toon, i just want to know where it is all heading.

f it is true that there is no real end-game, ill just RP a little bit until my account runs out...

i need an epic battle with real consequences..

    [/ QUOTE ]

In a static MMO world, changing the world is difficult. The closest that comes is when finishign a Lady Grey Task Force, the Rikti invade a zone and you can repel them.

Otherwise, you'll have to settle for Statesman/Lord Recluse SFs fighting the top of the top bad guys in the game, or PvP in Recluse's Victory over pillboxes or just smashing people in the face for fun.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
What content is there in cox that is considered end-game and what purpose does it serve?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lord Recluse Strike Force/Statesman Task Force/Hamidon Raids to get Hamidon Origin enhancements, they're dual-purpose SOs. Accuracy/Damage at 33% (among others, some affect status effects, movement, etc), enhancing both attributes.

There's also the Imperious Task Force, Lady Grey Task Force, PvP (in a state of flux at the moment), playing with the Markets, unlocking villain VEATs or hero VEATs and the new upcoming 5th Column Task Forces.

Or you can start a new alt to see new powersets...

    holy freakin' [censored].

Welcome back AF, hope life is treating you well and glad you had fun in WB.

  12. I hear ya Squid.

I've been on some runs that have been interminable. Multiple nuke and Shivan runs, people quitting.

Other runs have been butter. Generally on those I'm on my Mind/Fire, friend on his Brute and we gather 5 Corruptors and a few Masterminds. And get Shivans.

The reward for LRSF is TOO LOW.

Fer cryin' out loud they promised what, a year's free subs to the people that could beat it in Beta?
Yeah, yeah, some groups storm in in 30 minutes. Big farkin' deal. Some people attacked Hami from under the Hive to get HOs in the day too.

When you consider it's probably easier for the Villains to get a Hami raid going for their HO OR Merits...

Squid, the only thing you gotta hope is that with Going Rogue heroes can switch over and help out. That's lame, it's borderling condescending but it might be what balances crap out.

And this is me, I love villains, especially Dominators.
Raise the Merit reward to 30 or 35 on this thing.
It's the essence of frustration for some groups AND you need to complete one of its missions for an Accolade requirement.

As for "how" I've heard of some teams bringing multiple VEATs and storming this. Couple of Crabs and Fortunatas and some Corrs. Not sure, fastest run here was 50 minutes and we had 2 Fortunata, 4 Corr, 1 Brute and 1 Mind Dom.
  13. LF team on my Dom, Accoladed/IOd, respecced recently...
  14. I usually roll 10-14 Bronze and more recently 20-24 Bronze.

I'll get the pile of crapola like Horrors or such and then come out with a few Steadfast KB, Steadfast Res/Def, Karam KB and some smaller but nice items such as Adjusted Targeting or Detonations.

Enough to supply my friend with his needs and to turn the Crushing Impacts et al. into some pocket change.

I get Rare salvage as well once in a while. Took a few Silver rolls and was meh. Take gold rolls when I have a LOT of tickets on me, usually in the 35-39 or 40-44 range.
  15. Not at first go. Do a bunch of content through all level ranges and familiarize yourself with the AT system. Once you're familiar with the game, level as you wish.
  16. Neuronia

    The Sea Witch

She's not so bad at low levels when Bocor sets you up.

The EB version is a royal pain. You fight her at levels 22-26 and she has Lightning Storm, Hurricane, good damage and a bunch of Legacy Chain/Scrapyarder losers around her. Ugh.

That's villside for you though. The content is good, but making the end challenge an Elite Boss will just make it MORE enjoyable for the players.

This thread isn't about schooling folks in debate, it's about Smurphy's plans to better optimize his playing of this game through the means he's outlined in his posts in this thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then why the need to try and directly address the NcSoft employees?

What you describe doesn't require that being repeated twice in the same thread.

Please reconcile those things, then I'll believe you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's self-importance masked in grandiosity, seeking to get a 'get out of jail free' card on top of it.

NCSoft employees don't need to be alerted to anything. If an AE or non-AE mission proves bloatrous in its returns, it will get pulled. If a player abuses (there's that word again) AE or certain missions, it will become common knowledge and that player will get a temp ban.

To me, it seems like an incredible amount of set-up and extraneous expense when I can get heroes or villains PLd by my Vill group or PvP group but...more power to those that can find this interesting.

    @Philly:

Dictionaries are great but usage and common sense prevail at times as well.
  19. Hmmm so Tabula Rasa was around 70,000 subs (at first view) when it went under.

Say we were around 125,000 subs around the end of 2008.
Let's be generous and say we lost 1,000 accounts from PvP and lose another 3,000 to the recent events. That would put us around 110,000 or at worst 100,000 subs.

Still not enough to shut down any servers, I'd think.

    52 hamis?

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
There used to be back when Hamidon spawned as an AV with a level. Since they changed that a while back they only drop at level 50. The ones you see with buy histories are ones that people had acquired before the change. They are usually very expensive because there will never be any more of them than are currently circulating.

[/ QUOTE ]Nope. People used to exemplar down just prior to Hami going down, and they would get level 52 HOs. Devs changed it so that Hami only ever gives out level 50 HOs now, no matter the combat or security level. (As long as you are security level 47 or above. Level 45 and 46 characters cannot select HOs.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

This, you used to be able to zone to Warburg (reward screen)or ex down to someone outside the Hive to produce level 52 Hamis. Still have a bunch of them in some sg bins from back in the day.

They patched that a while ago though, tried it recently and it does nothing.

Avert the Trojan War @Daria Arc #188152

3 missions, well-written. Great dialogue, nice custom mobs, short, dramatic. Very worth your time. It was also virtually unplayed (!) when I tried it.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I don't necessarily agree that it was straight up broken before there was a market. Before the first tweak to drops and inf you made enough money selling drops and such to the proper stores to refresh your DO's and SO's all the way to 50.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You remember it your way, I remember it mine.

    I clearly remember ...

... hitting level 23 and buying some level 25 DO's, because I had to slot something and that was what I could afford when the old ones went red. All my Accuracies were SO's, but only about 1/3 of my Damage was.
... people not buying TO's or DO's so they could afford their SO's. Level 21 and not a thing slotted except with drops.
... people farming Mary MacComber for the SO drops.
... personally hunting those few Family that hung out in Steel by the IP gate, because level 20's dropped 1/3 DO's (level 19s dropped like 1/100 or something) and I needed the money.
... Being really excited when I found out that I could combine three SO's already in the power to make an SO++, because that meant I could get by with delaying 1/3 of my purchases to level 28.
... going to a new server, and building a "sugar momma" toon who got on teams with high-level characters, and asking them for DO's or TO's they would otherwise delete. Yeah, I had a Force Fielder that went with strangers for tips. I'm not proud. I had an SG to feed.
... making enough inf for my 45 and 50 SO's during level 41. Not "40 and 41", even. I was making ten times as much as I needed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I do remember this, good times.

I also remember daily Hami Raids and trading Micros for PLs and such. Ah, the Days when Ribos meant you could SO out multiple alts forever.
  23. k.

    Sorry, should elaborate.
A lot of the regular mobs are cakewalks, even moreso with /Storm secondary combined with Thugs.

Have you considered a JoJo challenge? Do some crazy custom mob missions. Set everything to Extreme with some EBs thrown in.
Try weird combinations. I know /Ninjutsu was borked for a while but they might have fixed it. Look to making the mobs in your missions all set to Extreme/Extreme and combine annoying powersets.

This seems like it would be fun but I'm not one for high-pop servers generally. Let us know how it worked out though.

  24. Like my Emps but they don't seem as strong anymore :/

In zones I like my Kat/Regen for some laughs and an occasional kill if I can Webnade them and get a few crits in. My Mind/Fire is very fun but I had to give up the team build and respec into PFF for extra survivability.

My Mind/FF is funny at times, Force Bolt someone into a mob or stuff.

Haven't found that build that's consistently fun to play outside the Mind/Fire yet. Maybe the Kat/Regen will be silly and fun enough to seal the deal for me.
