We weren't "getting away" with anything, we were playing the game as tested and released.

The players weren't putting anything over on the devs by seeking performance efficiency- it is a completely predictable response. That they failed to predict it or compensate for it is their responsibility, not the players.

A reasonable, rational response was also their responsibility, and instead we got a juvenile freak-out followed by two wasted years of gimped characters limping through the content.

But hey at least it didn't impact you personally, right?
    So it's all good.

"It didn't bother me, so there was no problem" is a pretty awesome philosophy to live by.

    Gratz.

Describing a two year span as "not ideal" is a masterpiece of understatement.

    It didn't bother you, great.
I quit playing over it, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

No, I'm still upset about it because they nerfed the **** out of everything in sight then gave us NOTHING in return for the two-odd years it took them to push out the invention system.

regardless of whether you think it was good or necessary or whatever, their handling of the whole thing was inexcusable.

Because you'll lose that bonus if you exemplar down past a certain threshold.

If you're only going to play at 50, then that's no biggie.
If you like to exemplar and you want to keep your bonuses, the level of the IO will play a part in your purchasing decisions.

    sure it is.

people responded to what you wrote, you didn't like it and busted out the hackneyed YOU DON'T KNOW ME!!111 card, I pointed out they don't need to know you, they only need to know your writing.

If you think your writing is being misinterpreted, improve it or clarify it.

I have yet to consider my other toons, but Pinky is going to remain as-is. Does anybody else have a character who isn't in line for the IF respec rebuild?
I hate respec'ing like poison so chances are *all* my established characters will be staying the same until I have some other pressing reason to re-jigger their builds.

My ar/dev will be getting a makeover, as all the IOs for his UBERBUILD have been sitting in base storage for a few months now....my low-ish level ma/sr will DEFINITELY be respecing...but the rest will just chill for now.

    /edit
actually, I may respec the goat so I can sell his three sets of PvP IOs.
    So that's three I'll respec.

In general, the performance difference between a super-expensive, purples-bursting-from-its-ears build and a build with just oranges/yellows is probably less than 10%. The difference in cost ranges from probably 400 to 1000%.
I've got a wide range of build styles in my stable, from pure generic IOs through Frankenslotting up to 'the good stuff' and then on to purely ostentatious purpled out 'bling' builds.

To me, the only really noticable performance jump is between generics and Frankenslotting.

'The good stuff' is measurably better when you look at the numbers, but in game? It doesn't feel that much different.

Ditto for the UberPurple/PvPIO builds. I mean they're really nice, but to me performance is roughly the same as 'the good stuff'.

Of course, I'm not a player that pursues extreme challenges and NEEDS that extra few % of advantage- I mostly just run missions at moderate difficulty settings, or I farm boatloads of low-ish powered stuff to maximize my drops.

Right now my 'best' character from a performance standpoint is my fire/axe tank, who's mostly Frankenslotted with a few powers still lagging behind with level 30 generics. I'm working on upgrading him, but it's more just a way to keep him 'progressing' now that he's level 50 than from any desire or need for better performance.

    Just my two cents.

There are players who 'need' uber performance to do amazing things, but those players are few in number and also not 'casual' by any meaningful definition of the word.

For the vast bulk of the playerbase (myself included) l337 gear is purely a status symbol, or a way to 'improve' a character you like who's run out of other avenues of progression.

You're on a forum, so people are going to respond to what you post.

Going from what you've posted in this thread there are obvious conclusions to draw, and people have drawn them.

If you don't like those conclusions, you should express yourself more clearly and accurately.
