Quote:oooooooooor....I can just buy generic IOs which aren't confusing in the first place, don't expire and cost me less thanks to badgers.if SOs are too annoying to sort though, then i would suggest looking here if you havent yet, its a really nice thing which standardizes the icons on all of the SO/DOs, so if you want an acc, just look for the familiar acc symbol used on the generic IOs or TOs
=P
But that would be handy for anyone who still messes with expiring enhancements. -
Quote:What complaints?Engaging for you maybe. But judging from the complaints you hear about the Blind Bidding system it seems you are in the minority.
On the forum richter scale whining about the price history doesn't even register.
Quote:You like the AH as a mini game, a lot of people don't. Add to that the amount it gets abused and I'm really struggling for a reason to keep it.
Interesting! -

Quote:I prefer activity to passivity. Why not have all prices listed then? Doesn't hurt you does it? Why do you want to restrict the information buyers have?
This system requires meaningful decision-making for both sellers AND buyers as they engage in a dialogue on what Widget X is 'worth'.
Where in Another Game(tm) the input of the buyer is limited to scanning down to the bottom of the list and buying the cheapest Widget X on offer, CoH requires exploration if the buyer wants to get the best deal. Getting the best deal requires effort, which seems to me a better result for a game where the market is as much mini-game as mercantile interface.
It isn't the most efficient system, but it is definitely more engaging than "here's the list, buy the cheapest thing on offer". -
Quote:this competition already exists if the buyer cares enough to investigate prices. No I don't just mean your listing IOs I mean all IOs of that type.
ie If there were 70 Mako's Bite Acc/Dam on the AH then the sale price for all 70 would be shown. A rational consumer would buy the cheapest one of course. It provides real competition though giving the buyer better market knowledge.
I don't see requiring a tiny bit of effort from the buyer as a major imposition.
People who want deals can absolutely find them. -
Quote:this is what alts are for.So far I have gottne it up to 25 mil just by buying IOs crafting and then selling the finished product. Unfortunatly I have hit a market jam. All of my slots are full and nothing has moved for a bit.
=D
My main recipe farmer keeps 5 alts busy with crafted IOs to shlep to the market for him. -
once I19 and inherent stamina hits brutes will be golden fresh out of the tutorial.

great casting.
it's *already* better than Stallone's monument to his own lack of talent. -
Quote:I didn't have anyone at 50 until a few years back for much the same reason (well, and also it was much slower going back in the day which encouraged my alt-itis).I have a really hard time with "most enjoy". It seems to vary pretty quickly over time. Problem is, this game is too well balanced; each character tends to be good at something, so I end up enjoying playing them more... then I play someone else and that's fun...
But if you *want* a 50 for whatever reason, just pick one character and stick with it. As long as you don't actively hate playing them, you'll get there.
If you're looking for efficiency, soloists who can crank out the AoEs are great. My 50s are my kat/regen scrapper, fire/ice blaster, axe/fire tank and fire/dark corrupter. My scrapper was one of my oldest characters or he'd probably have been an AoE powerhouse too. -
Quote:Pick the character you most enjoy playing. So, I've been playing about 4 months, and I keep thinking I want to see some of the higher-level content, but I have serious altitis.
I seek advice: What's a good first character to try to get to 50? Either something that will really bloom post-30, or something that'll be easy to level, or... I dunno. What should I try to finish levelling, and why? (I'd list my characters, but really, would adding one more change things? No.)
Stop playing everyone else.
You'll hit 50 in no time. -
Quote:point of order:The complaints are coming due to the fact they are consistently late in releasing new content.
as the people who set the agenda and given their historic reluctance to specify dates they can't really be 'late'.
can they produce content at a rate you personally find unimpressive?
yes.
does that make it 'late'?
no. -

I don't mind ambushes per se, but it does really tick me off when the dummy I'm supposed to rescue gets killed in the ensuing fracas and I'm stuck dropping or re-running the mission.

Quote:No idea.I'm just wondering why they promised something before Thanksgiving anyway. The past three years they've decided not to risk a new issue right before the long holiday... why did they decide this would be different in the first place?
I thought it was strange when they announced it. -
While it is totally out of control on Freedom, I also see 'em on Triumph, which is on the low-ish end of the population spectrum.
I was genuinely shocked they didn't slap it down during the last maintenance. -
Weak.
Wouldn't stop anyone from conducting such 'business' in private, though.

I had to buy a couple a few weeks back- was running Posi II with a PUG and levelled a couple of times. Cook's Electronics was right by the trainer, it was the right origin, so I thought "why not!"
NEVER AGAIN!
I'd almost forgotten the annoyance and frustration of fishing around for what you want then buying the wrong thing anyway and not noticing until you try to slot it. On the plus side, the wasted inf doesn't matter these days...but it still sucked.
I will run EMPTY until I can get to the market next time. -
Quote:NC's online store reminds me of the exciting pre-Amazon days of ECommerce, when every podunk website had their own wacky store that had been cobbled together by someone's nephew for extra credit in their Comp Sci class. There's a limit of 3 items per day per household, regardless of which credit card you use.
I ran into this a week or so ago trying to buy 4 items for 2 accounts using 2 credit cards. :P
I've never seen another retail environment that screams GET OUT, WORM, YOU HAVE BOUGHT ENOUGH! when you hit some arbitrary limit. -
Quote:While I agree with your sentiment, we *are* entitled to periodic free updates that freshen things up for longtime players.Things being postponed isn't a new concept, **** happens, get over it. You are paying for a luxury, you are not entitled to a thing besides access to the servers.
That said, we aren't entitled to have them on our schedule, but rather on the devs schedule.
The kerfuffle this time around nicely illustrates why they very, very rarely mention a specific date for this or that feature. However carefully they modify the statement a few people will FREAK THE #$%*@ OUT about their lying, cheating, lowdown ways if something gets delayed. -
