yep- if drops are your goal, you want vast fields of low level spawns.

Quote:This is exactly why they won't merge the markets right away, without making sure that some feature is in place to keep people from cornering the market on certain items.....
It is impossible to "corner the market" on stuff with infinite supply.
I couldn't bring myself to read the rest of your post, but that whopper needed correction. -
Quote:It's not that I'm tired of being overpaid, but srsly people, what happened to bid creeping? It used to be that, if I wanted to sell something for 70,000,000 inf, I'd list it for 69 mill and change, so I could undercut the people selling at 70 even. These days I'm listing things at 60,000,001 and watching them sell for 75 million. And it's not always my item that sells, which means other people are listing it as low or lower!
My ar/dev has been mining a particular IO set that is widely available for 50-100k and doesn't take much in the way of expensive salvage.
I've been listing them for 900k and selling them for 4 million.
*shrug* -
If only my profiteering might extended to the real world!
Even so, I'ma dedicate some of my xmas bonus to Child's Play.
Viva charity! -
It's grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-ATZ!

thanks Sam for reminding me why I had slashman on ignore- I'd forgotten.
r/e some kind of travel power customization- I bet anything requiring new animations will be premium content, because that takes a lot of time and effort and I can see them wanting a bottom line $$$ for it. Forum kudos are nice, but they don't pay the bills.
I'd be happy to drop 5 bucks or something on different animations attached to the Ninja Run power framework- bestial leaping, athletic running, fae bouncing, whatever. If they were as well done as the ninja animation, it'd be a fiver well spent. -
Went shopping with my 500 million blaster the other night and knocked his bankroll down to 50 mil.
I'm crafting the stuff he needs and sticking it in storage so I can respec him all at once. Checked a couple of the purples on the market and was forced to list them for sale- I'd be a moron if I ignored the opportunity to double my money. I wasn't even trying to get the recipes cheap, I bid 'last 5' and got them overnight.
Anyway, I ran an MA farm two times, cashed in the tickets for bronze rolls and made about 40 million on recipe sales.
So, wealth building remains a comically simple endeavor. If you want to be game rich, all it takes is a tiny bit of effort. -
I dunno about the cane-to-effort ratio, but just as a 'casual gamer' the event looks like fun. If it generates zone turnout and player teaming on par with the Halloween even, I'll be a thoroughly satisfied customer.

Quote:Your observations are no more inherently accurate or valid than anyone elses. Only the devs know what the numbers really are.I watch the server global channels. If I am on Infinity and see no activity for 1.5 hrs in an average evening, I am inclined to believe that we have lower server activity.
For my part, if there's been some kind of decline I haven't noticed it.
I've been playing on Triumph lately and if anything it seems more active and populated.
The Deadly Apocalypse reliably drew a bunch of big teams out of the woodwork, accumulating more players than I've seen in one spot since they opened the door to the Rogue Isles. -
stuff I've paid for:
GvE pack
Magic booster
Cyborg booster
Ninja booster
So I won't buy just whatever they throw out there.
Of the ones I have there's usually one thing I think is SUPER COOL that justifies the buy. GvE has the Sinister Boots, which are my favorite red side footwear. Magic has that awesome skull face. Cyborg has the combat auras, and while it isn't wildly useful I love the self destruct power. And Ninja Run is just the best thing ever. -
For me, it's not like inf is so hard to make that I HAVE to have every slot working 24/7. Most of the time I've got one or two characters I'm not playing who're working on some scheme or other, but for my active characters they rarely do more than sell drops and flip whatever obvious stuff I run across while selling said drops.
Like Uber, I need to have a big chunk of change on my 'mains' to feel comfortable. That sort of liquidity is what let the Goat snap up two full sets of PvP IOs on a whim right when they came out. If I get around to respecing him I could hit the inf cap from a standing start just by selling a few. -
Aww, shucks...you'll make me blush!

Quote:Yes, the rep system certainly did provide an outlet for rude comments to be left in anonymity with no outlet for response or discussion.
You had an outlet for response- replies in violation of forum standards could be reported.
I received vastly more positive than negative rep & comments. As one of the less diplomatic regulars, it makes me wonder to what lengths you'd have to go to get ONLY abusive comments and negative rep.
Perhaps the real issue so many people had with the system was that it shone a light on the overall quality of their contribution to the forum?
In which case it was neutered for doing its job too well. -

Quote:Uh, actually I resorted to facts.Well I can see that when you guys get challenged with the facts by someone you resort to name calling and cussing.
I realize its embarrassing for you to be so horribly wrong and uninformed in public, but that doesn't make it a personal attack.
Quote:Simple, population is down period.
So you aren't qualified to make declarative statements like that. -
Quote:PMs are quite a bit more 'formal' and less useful for conveying off the cuff opinions about individual posts than the rep system was./this, many times over.
If you don't want to "gum up the thread" with a simple I agree, and can't think of something else to put with it (like why, for instance,) then PM the person.
The rep system did what it was designed for much better than any other forum system.
Being as these are their forums, they can certainly do whatever they like with it. And those of us who enjoyed the system and found it useful are entitled to complain about their choices. -

That was quite an informative post, Luminaria!
(what my +rep comment would have been) -
Quote:It has been.BBQ_Pork makes a potentially valid point in server capacity. This would assume that the capacity has been upgraded.
Several times.
There were public announcements and everything.
Why don't you, I dunno....fire up your DS or something?
All of us will have more fun. -
Quote:I've pointed out several things the rep system is good for.I think the few mods we have have more things to be looking at than to be reading everyone's rep comments. We did not have this petty "boast or blast" feature before, and I can't see *any* reason to have it now, other that as a mini game so people can see how many green or red ticks they can get.
and I don't understand how you would "boast" via anonymous comments?
Quote:The kind of fungus that have posted some rep comments I've heard about can't stand the light of day, so they won't post in the open. Problem eliminated.
Ya I no, rlly!
