  1. When bases were announced, we all thought of batmans cave or spidermans apartment or the xmansion. What we got was an empty wherehouse.

Only with the oversight center did bases become useful and attainable. They are cost prohibitive and are not really that much fun for all the same reasons people have said.

The decorating and personalization would go a long way if they intruduce the /moveitem command from SWG. All items in SWG could be moved, rotated, lowered, nudged hover anywhere in space the designer liked. This is where you get the scale model ships and full aquariums. CoH bases have rigid placement of items and desks that you cannot place items on.

Another neet feature in SWG was in the building plot you purchased. Small, Medium, Large or Guild. The rooms were static but the walls and stairs and ceilings looked like a building you'd want to stay in. In CoH we get a cavernous labryinthe where items can only be placed in specific rooms. Why can't the teleporter be in the same room as the generator?

The decorating isn't really that great, only 1 person ever decorates anyway, costs are way too high and no one can see your base anyway to show off.

I really post here to show support to other well thought out posts here that explain why bases are just not that good. The Pocket D teleport and hospitals negate the need for a base anyway.
  2. I see that alot of work went into designing the walls and floors and ceilings of bases, but the rest is not unprecidented. Though SWG is in terrible disaray now, their use of home/building customization was outstanding. All items could be placed on all other items. If you couldn't figure that out, there were fine tuning commands like /move left 3 OR /move up 100 . This allowed great customization where people would use mundane items to build replicas of starships inside their homes or intricate aquariums. You were able to buy many different sized buildings for different ammounts. NPC's could be placed inside that could speak to players and become vendors or heralds. Any item could be placed in any room. You didnt add on a room just to have power and a room just to have worktables.

I think what would have been great is to 'purchase' different mission maps. A small wherehouse or a medium office. A large tunnel perhaps. Then we could furnish and power the bases. These maps have split levels, elevators and great story potential. Think of cleaning out a COT temple and then claiming it as your own.

Until now bases have been cost prohibitive for small groups of 2-3 players. Even with the new additions, bases serve little purpose. The teleporters are useful, but there is little else. When you've built your teleporter, most small groups just sell off the work room and benches. The med lab isn't even useful. Rez with 1/4 health in base or at full in a hospital? Tough choice. The seperate and limited rooms are a problem. There should be prices for various sized rooms that can allow any number of items. The items themselves cost so much. What is a power generator? 250k?

I think we were all expecting the batcave, danger room and hall of justice. What we got was motgage on a personal tram station.
  3. I'd like to echo remarks from others that it is rude to be doing this on the same weekend as the San Diego Comic Con. The con is thursday to sunday and leaves no time for the event. Maybe those who go to the con should find the ncsoft booth and let them know.

  6. These station don't help anyone. I have yet to see one positve post about these items here except that now they dont use power or control.

What would make these empowerment stations worth using is if they made inspires. Have different levels of salvage make different tiers of inspires which you can then store in your new inspire storage!

Or enhancement makers. TO,DO and SO based on the level you are and the type of salvage.

Or temp power makers. At least the stuff sold at the arena or pvp zones.

Or costume piece makers! Get enough nemesis salvage and unlock a nem helmet.
  7. I can see where it would be fun once the bugs and difficulty are worked out.

Time wasnt a problem until I went to jail, which is to be expected. I was ambushed...IN MY CELL! The door was not open yet and guards phased thru just when i summoned my pets. Some of my pets left through the walls to battle who knows what. After destroying the door, more cops came. It was a constant string of swat with glue attacks. Luckily I pased the cell with the villain to team up with, who just walked out of the cell from somewhere.

Finally I left the building. I wish I could say the same for my pets. I used recall friend, which didnt work of course since they were in the police station. Time ran out as I tried to get my pets out. They seamed to focus on civilians anyway to not be bothered with my attack orders.

I didnt even make it to the bank so I cant comment on that difficulty. Like I said, I can see where it would be fun. But if you are a mastermind, I'd stay away.
  8. I placed a banner with a logo 'F', then changed my sg logo to 'U' When I placed the 2nd banner, the first banner changed to a 'U' also resulting in 2 banners next to each other that said 'U' 'U'

so either they fixed the banner thing or letters are the only logos that dont remain.

and the logo of a bomb didnt appear. it was a celtic symbol even though my group had a bomb.

what? I was gonna right 'FUN'...
  9. So if you teamed with a kinetisits who had the stealth line...youd get the same buffs right? or if you were one.

I'm disapointed with these stations. I post here to get the everyone elses point across to the devs by agreeing with what's been said. I'm thinking of scrapping my base somehow as there's really no was to have a functioning base for small groups. And by functioning I mean a single teleporter and single medical rez.
  10. Does anyone actually use gladiators? I'm a little disapointed that the 'veteran' reward isn't something more useful like a rock temp power or a party hat.
  11. I had to go with the 'rank an file' wolf spider helmet. how cool is having just a plain solder rise up the ranks of arachnos.

Also I had a bear of time reading the serial. it was S not 5
