  1. I need to find a hairdresser who can do the antler thing pronto. Why bother wearing a viking helm if you can have the antlers directly on your head?

    Funny. That's actually where I got the name in the first place, Lorne in Angel. Good thing I made him back then, too, as Major Lorne in Stargate Atlantis has managed to ruin the name again

    Issue 16: Repairs fried motherboards? Yeah, I'll resubscribe for that, GG. Or did you mean that the fall semester would likely coincide with the next issue or two? :P

    Which name did I steal, FFM? If anything, it's proof that great minds think alike. Well, great minds and great collections of biomass, anyway, judging by your name of choice

    I will try to stay in touch, SS. Since I won't be confined to dial-up this period abroad, I might actually be able to communicate with the world... If nothing else, I'll stop by the old Shock Tactics forum 2-3 times a year again

    I would like to thank everyone who found themselves interacting with my alts during my (too) short return to CoX. It was fun being back, but I have made the decision to quit for a number of reasons, hardware malfunction and failure to replace it being the foremost.

    If NC does decide to merge the EU and US populations, I might see you stateside once I get set up at the university this fall. If not, godspeed to you all. It was one hell of a ride.

    Problem is that while it would solve the stuck/missing mobs problem it would probably be exploitable.

    Bonfire (or any other stationary quasi-pet with PBAoE effect) in the middle on the spawn location, then keep using /mobstuck to return them whenever they get out of range.

    However, I fully support this idea, though it might need a timer to prevent the aforementioned exploit. It would free some work hours for GMs as well, allowing them to spend more time helping with real problems
  6. Why I16, SS?

    As for autorent, I agree. I earn what little rent my base requires within a mission or two, so that's no problem. Having to log into an alt of rent-paying privileges and trekking to Atlas just to click three times gets tedious. If anything, shouldn't I be able to call them up?

    "Office of Supergroup Registration. How may I help you?"
    "Hi, this is Lorne Lightningclaw, officer of the suprgroup Situation Normal. I would like to pay this month's rent, please."
    "Ok, that will be 700 prestige. Would you like us to withdraw the funds from your supergroup's account?"
    "Yes, that will be fine. Thank you for your time."
    "Have a nice day, sir."
  7. I know it seldom bodes well for an event when the organizer stays quiet. I've just been too busy lately. Anyway, time to update the status on this thing

    Since a few have requested a delayed start, I am unsure as to the best choice. It's a given that you can never please everybody, but a vast majority would be good. Myself, I would survive pushing off the start by an hour, but if that would make it too late for some, it might be better to keep it as is. It is still early-ish, though, so I will assume it works. If changing the time to 8PM GMT makes you unable to attend, please notify me ASAP.

    Another concern is about the day. I intended it to be either-or, but with some people wanting this, and others that... Well, you know how it goes. In the spirit of solidarity, I will be happy to go at it both days, both as this is something I've never done before, and because I would like to help as many as possible obtain their badges. Hopefully, more will feel the same way. Saturday will be the "main" run, though.

    For attendance, I have this thus far:

    Team 1:
    1. @Lightningclaw - Lorne Lightningclaw (50 Claw/Regen)
    2. alez222uk - character unknown (Tanker or WS?)
    3. @Riff - character unknown
    4. Shock
    5. @Sargatanas - Zenon (Fire/Storm)
    6. m_tastic - little miss psyche (Ice/MM)
    7. @Boy Wonder - Quantum Flash (Ill/Kin)
    8. @Axe - tanker of some sort

    Team 2:
    1. @Dark Spider

    Reserve/possible: (tell me if I'm wrong)
    @Uther Dracus -
    @Sing Star
    @Protector_X - Bubble/Elec

    Hoping to post this on Defiant Events and Badgers as well, and see if there's a bit bigger turnout then. Either way, I'll see you all there Saturday.
  8. Just checking, but this is GMT, right? So I still have an hour?
  9. Actually, no, Forsaken. Hitting backspace will reply, but to the last person from whom you received a tell before hitting backspace. So if I sent you a tell and you pressed backspace, the message would already me addressed to me.

    /r, on the other hand, replies to the last person who sent you a tell when you send your message. So if FFM sent you a message while you were typing a response to me using /r, he would get the message, not I.
  10. Yep, I'm definitely in. Will bring a Fire/Rad Controller or Archcery/Energy Blaster. Likely the former.
  11. I might be interested in this - let me just see what alts I have in range
  12. This is a remake of the old post, where the dates were pushed back a week so as not to clash with the double exp weekend.

    So, I've been thinking. I always wanted those six badges from Recluse's Victory, but despite my best efforts, I never seemed to be able to solo down 5 AVs (or even one of them) within the allotted time. I know there are other badgers out there, many of whom likely find themselves in the same situation. A number of theoretically straightforward badges are just sitting there, but somebody has to organize the effort to get them.

    I won't pretend to know every detail about this, as it will be my first time really organizing anything big(ish). I'm optimistic, though. We know how to spawn the AVs, and mostly everybody has had a chance to go up against one at some point in time. I also get the feeling that they are easier now than they used to be. Combine those with a few heroes willing to try, and we should be good to go.

    I have suggested two dates, though Sunday 1st might also be an option, though it might (definitely if done at 1900) crash with Searing Empress' weekly Rikti raids. Anybody who is interested is welcome to join, just post up what AT you intend to bring and which of the date(s) you could make. If enough people want to, we’ll run both so you can get them all on at least two alts.

    I am currently working under the assumption that any hero part of a team that does a significant contribution to the downfall of an AV will be credited the corresponding badge. If I am way off there, now would be a good time to tell me.

    The ones who have shown an interest thus far is as follows:
    @Lightningclaw
    alez22uk
    Scarlet Shocker
    @uther dracus
    Shock
    (@Sing Star)?
    @Boy Wonder

    For any questions, you can reach me at @Lightningclaw.
  13. Yeah, you're right, GG. I should have done my homework before trying to pull something like this.

    I'll probably try to get a few levels on my MM and my Ill/Rad during the event too, see if they get a bit more interesting some levels up.

    I changed the dates, and I'll try to change the entire thread title. It's pushed a week back - which should leave us plenty of time to prepare after DXP. See you there?

    Edit: Yep, can't change the OP. Any chance a moderator could change the dates mentioned there to the ones in the title of this post?
  14. Well, here goes my first attempt on building a mostly IO build. It's a semi-budget build (thus no Armageddon or Ragnarok) but I'm relatively flexible. It's for both solo and group play, with the knockbacks providing soft control.

    Any tips, both to power selections and slotting would be much appreciated.

  15. Oh, I wasn't aware of that, SS. But it shouldn't take too long anyway, and it might actually work in our favor. With double exp, the chance of somebody deciding to go villaining against us is significantly reduced.

  17. Plus, unecessary debuffs does not make for happy campers. On the flipside, however, if there was a decentzone-buff and a minor global one, it'd make ALL players have something to gain from it, not just the ones who would be in level range of King's Row or such.

    Alternatively, a (themed) temporary power or buff for the players involved might also prove to be a good reward
  18. Ok, I think I've got it then, Colonel. Again, thanks to all that helped enlighten me (and possibly a few others who stumble across this)
  19. Just when I think I've got it... So which ones do stop working, assuming you still have the powers they are in? If I have this right thus far, there are three special categories;

    Proc: gets less effective by going down, but might still fire so long as you use the power it is in.
    Global: gives flat buff to character, no effect if you exemplar so far you lose the power
    (200s)Buff: less effective by exemplaring, but active so long as you have the slotted power active
  20. [ QUOTE ]
    Sure, but the mez type purple sets are much cheeper, and the set bonuses are just as good.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Not sure whether it's worth picking several powers just to be able to get to a mez, though. Unless there are any knockback ones... I'll look into it. Claws/Regen doesn't allow for much mez outside the regular knock-'em down.

    And I'm sorry, Doc, I read your initial response as if the procs/chance for would cease to function if you examplar more than -3 to them. Rereading, coupled with your second, I assume you were just referring to them as any part of the set, thus deactivating the bonus. This lets me just buy any one of them, though, as I always exemplar out of my bonuses anyway (mostly level 48-50 inventions)

    Confusing, yes. But not that bad, really. And as the tooltip claims, I'm not really missing out by not being able to squeeze out that final percent anyway

    I appreciate all the help, though.
  21. Ah, I see now. Thanks for the link. I don't really mind the set bonuses anyway, and there's no way I'm getting more than one purple set at current prices. (Estimating in excess of 300 million for the one melee set I can see)

    This might be worth noting, though:
    [ QUOTE ]
    "Chance for" enhancements are not affected by exemplaring, so long as the power is available. (Naturally, damage scales with combat level.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    So, who is wrong?
  22. It does, thank you. But I wasn't aware my inventions went out of effect when exemplared. Does that go for the proc/+ ones only, sets only, or all inventions altogether?

    I'm beginning to realize that doing Ouro with no enhancements may not be that much of a loss after all. (No enh, temp or insp, debuffed and buffed enemies is still a no-go, though. =))
  23. There is one thing I have been wondering about for a while, but been unable to find directly addressed. Do these inventions scale with the level of the enhancement? Would for example a Mako's Bite: Chance for lethal add more damage as a level 50 enhancement than as a level 45 one?

    Similarly, how does this work with inventions like Numina: +Recovery? Do these scale with the level of the enhancement?

    If only some scale, how does one know which are worth spending the extra money on, and which aren't? Is there any way to find the actual benefit of each enhancement level?

    I realize that logically, a level 50 +something would add more than a level 30 +the same. However, as I can find no actual documentation on this in the game, (like we see +x% listed on all other enhancements, normal and invented) I feel the question should be asked before I do my welcome-back build.

    Cheers,
    - Lorne
  24. If my friend does get sick, I will make it. If she doesn't, earliest I could make would be about 15-30 minutes later (assuming times are GMT.)

    Put me up as a reserve, and I'll log on whenever I get home. If you've started, best of luck, if not, I'll lend my claw to your cause
  25. Lorne Lightninclaw, Claws/Regen Scrapper might be able to attend. Will get back to you with a definite answer tonight.
