Quote:Obviously you are referring to the person who baselessly attacked Fury in the post right above yours. While I agree with you that this newcomer probably hasn't decent comprehension skills you should refrain from calling him a jerk or telling him that he "sucks" (even though I might agree on that, too). It's against the board rules (rules no. 2 and no. 10 come to mind), it isn't nice and such a behavior reflects badly on you.And reading the rest of this thread, apparently few people here have decent English Comprehension skills. Or they just like to be jerks to new players. Either way, you guys suck.

I think drops are too random that most people won't even notice unless you tell them. Especially when it comes to purple drops. I can play for weeks without seeing a single purple drop. Yet the other day I had three in a single mission. Maybe they already tried double drop rate weekend and we just didn't notice.
EDIT: I think I would prefer the double merit idea. It's less random and gives a good reason to team up with others to run a TF/SF/Trial (well, there are several good reasons even now, but it might help to make it even more attractive.) -
There are some invention origin memorization trackers for download out there.
For example here: http://www.vidiotmaps.com/downloads.php -
Quote:Not 100% true. At least the Core i7-875K is coming for LGA 1156.Example: Intel most likely won't be releasing any new chips in the 1156 socket format, but if you're not planning on upgrading the CPU without a new motherboard in the future that really doesn't matter.
@Santorican:
I'd say you have three build options based on motherboards:
LGA 1366 with i7-920 or i7-930.
LGA 1156 with i5-750 or i7-860.
AM3 with Phenom II X6 1055T or 1090T.
Newegg lists the i5-750 and the X6 1055T for $200 each. The X6 1090T costs $310 and is the most expensive CPU here. The i7-920 and the i7-860 are priced at $280 and the i7-930 at $290. LGA 1366 boards cost more than LGA 1156 and AM3. Expect to see a difference of $50-100. Prices for LGA 1156 and AM3 are close together and you should be able to get a good board for $100-150.
I bought a new pc very recently myself and faced the same choices.
My first decision was against the LGA 1366 + i7-920/i7-930 combination. In performance rankings you'll find this combo head-to-head with the LGA 1156 + i7-860 combo, which is cheaper because of the cheaper boards.
Next decision was against the i5-750 which gives probably the best price/performance ratio among the Intel CPUs listed here. This was not an easy choice, but in the end I had enough money in my budget to buy the better CPU and so I went for "shiny".
And when I had my PC build complete the Phenom II X6 was released. I postponed the acquisition of a new PC and waited for reviews and tests of the new AMD CPUs. And I liked what I read. I bought the X6 1090T. -
Nice build, too. But you can make it better.
Put the Miracle unique in FH and change the generic Heal IO in FH into a Miracle:Heal. Consider using the 4th slot in HPT for the Steadfast Protection unique. Add a LotG:+7.5% recharge to Indomitable Will. The BotZ in Combat Jumping and Super Jump are probably an oversight. Get a LotG:+7.5% recharge and maybe a LotG: Def into CJ and redistribute the extra slot in Super Jump. SJ is good enough with just a single Jump IO. QR and Stamina are both overslotted. You have enough net end gain to shave off at least 1 slot in each of them. Consider 6-slotting Typhoon's Edge with Obliteration to get closer to the softcap in S/L. Consider dropping SoW and taking Tactics or FA 6-slotted with Gaussians instead. If you take 1 slot from CJ, SJ, QR and Stamina each, like I mentioned, you are almost there. You could drop the Eradication proc in Sweeping Strike maybe, to get the last slot needed. This should bring you to the soft cap of S/L are at least very close to it. -
Nice build. But you should reconsider taking Hasten. I don't see where Hasten really helps you. Net end gain could be better, too. Maybe switch the Numina IOs in FH with Miracle IOs for example. Using Enzyme HOs is debateable. I would expect that they will get fixed eventually. At least take the Enzyme from Combat Jumping and put it into Heightened Senses. And consider dropping FA and taking Tactics instead. You will loose your ToHit debuff resistance but you will save a lot of end (I never felt I missed the debuff res after I made this switch myself).

Quote:It's a common problem. And I think it was mentioned in the thread Panzerwaffen linked to, although the focus in that thread is on the UI itself.Since I've been back, they've released a patch that says it's supposed to fix the spam message (presumably from WW Overload), but neither before nor after that patch, since my return, have I received messages telling me that WW is too busy to process my request. Instead, if I'm bidding, cancelling, or just dragging and dropping into WW, more than half the time, I get no message at all (to indicate either success or failure), the UI appears to accept my action, and between 1 and 10 seconds later it's all undone.
So is it just me, or is this a common problem? -
Hi and welcome to CoH/CoV!
Have fun and enjoy the game.
If you are looking for information you'll find much in the various subsections of our forums.
Another great source of information is here: http://www.cohtitan.com/ -
And another MoLGTF successfully completed.
Thanks to an awesome team!
We had 1 Tank, 3 Scrapper, 2 Defender and 2 Controller (Defender/Controller were 1 Storm, 1 Kin, 1 Forcefields and 1 Rad).
We needed 3.5 hours, being careful and skipping nothing (no failed mission).
The hard part was the weakened Hamidon, of course. We didn't have enough mez to hold him. Instead we did it (more or less) the way macskull described in one of the earlier posts of this thread. We took out the Pylons, pulled the Rikti into Hamidon and cleared yellow and blue Mitos. Then we regrouped and attacked and defeated Hamidon (the tanker taunted at range). After we beat Hamidon we fell back again to heal up. Then we started fighting the green Mitos. The first green Mito was close to the ground and was quickly defeated. The other green Mitos were all high in the air and with some people on the team who had other travel powers than Flight we couldn't concentrate enough DPS. To solve this one of our team members left the Abyss and changed into a secondary build to get Group Fly while another acquired some red inspirations. With Group Fly and some red pills we were able to get another green Mito down. The next after this was problematic again. We learned, that it was a good idea to fall back to heal and buff up (SB and AM) after every green Mito defeated. With every defeated Mito it became easier and the last three were defeated in a row .. the last two even with only 7 members on the team (I DCed). EoEs were used. I think everyone had at least 4 EoEs before we attacked Mitos and Hamidon. Personally I used only 1 but I don't know how many were used by the others. However, I would recommend them if you are going to try a MoLGTF run.
The rest of the TF was easy again (especially when compared to the green Mitos).
We beat the AVs and took down the generators.
Badge awared.
Yay us. -
Oh, I know that, too. I have hundreds of them stored in my SG bins (only tier 3 class) and still hesitate to use them.

I have no idea where you take the 20% from. Effectiveness bases to a large degree on the player and no character builder could ever display that in a reasonable way. Or are you thinking about the combos? Using Empower and Weaken is not effective when you have Attack Vitals and Sweep available. Attack Vitals gives additional DoT. Sweep gives additional damage and knockdown. Both are good attack chains, but not the best available (if you have enough recharge). So I think it would be hard to claim the difficulties in displaying the conditional nature of the combos account for 20% more "effectiveness".

Quote:I remembered reading about the -50 and +50 settings and assumed they were given in addition to the base value. Rereading what Castle said I realize that the original number was never explained in detail. However, he explained the new number:Actually, they currently have 50 Protection. Castle then said he was going to drop it to 15, but instead, dropped it to 10.
The patch has been checked in, so it's out of his hands, and as you noted, should be in a patch Soon™.

Quote:What is the slow cap?
on mids they are not even moving the way it is set up.Quote:Patch Notes / 2004-06-03
A minimum movement speed has been set for all villains so they cannot be Immobilized (zero movement) with a slow power (e.g. Caltrops or Snow Storm). To fully immobilize a foe, you will need to use an Immobilize power. -
Quote:I wasn't guessing when I said this isn't what happened.Possible I guess. But that's a lot of market fee infl lost to set a price that can't stick....
I think it's not even possible with the number of bids and offers listed. I know for a fact that it didn't happen that way in this specific case.

Quote:This is a known issue. The resistance is correct. When you get a successful hold on a green mito the resistance drops to 20% and the regeneration and healing stops. Currently they have mag 52 hold protection, though (so you need to stack mag 53 to hold it). This was lowered to mag 12 internally and should come with a patch soon(tm). So did a lady grey tf today, heard there was a bug with green mitos being unkillable. We destroy everything fairly easy, get to the green mitos and BAM, not even a dent. Someone used a MK 3 Analyzer, and they have 90% res to all??? Some decent regen/recovery, serious debuff defense and they heal each other!!
After 10 minutes of no attack (Holds, Immob, Ranged, Melee) doing any significant damage even with stacking heaps of -res & blasters using Aim/Build Up!! Are they using actual HAMI stats?
Anyone else have this problem? Waited 20 mins with no sign of GM help so everyone quit. As is the lady grey is pretty much unbeatable due to the status of the green mitos. -

Quote:Actually it's only 4.25% ToHit buff for Corrs.Focussed Accuracy gives a flat 20% accuracy buff, a buffable 5% to-hit buff, a non buffable perception boost, and a non buffable perception debuff resistance.
plainguy, you should really try to work Leadership:Tactics into your build instead. Even if you ignore the fact that it buffs your team it's still better for you. Enhanceable 10% ToHit buff (no accuracy buff, though) and all the other goodies FA has, for half the endurance cost. -
This is not what happened. It might work if no one else is selling and bidding, but not with the number of people bidding and selling here.

Quote:Hmm... so did you just want to share your build or do you actually want help with it? Be warned, though. You might hear that your build is not very good for a number of reasons. If you want we'll just say it's serving you well and leave it there instead.Felt like sharing my DB/WP scrapper's build. I built this to fit my playstyle, which is pretty aggressive and based on the idea that enemies can't hurt you when they're defeated. I aimed to play to Dual Blade's strengths and important aspects, so it's first concerns are recharge and accuracy, followed by regeneration/HP and then defense where I can squeeze it in. I lean more towards offense than defense. I've also got all the accolades, so that helps a lot (that extra 20% HP is wonderful).
In any case, this build seems to be serving me well. Right now, I can solo Nemesis maps on +1/x8, and so long as I'm smart about my positioning, I do pretty well with my nuclear powered blender. -

Quote:Gale: Well, if you have fun with it, it's ok. My personal opinion is that it is a very weak power, but it sure does look very good and it can be funny to blow some low level minions all over the zone.Gale has been usefull so far. Since I mostly solo this build.
Freezing Rain, the longer they are slowed the better.
I am using hover as my in mission movement, and it is my KB protection. Use just get a little spin, I can deal with that, and as for accuracy, have you seen the debuffing this build does?
I chose BFR because I really like the animation.
And electric fence, just another fun toy in a build foll of AOE goodness.
We all look at things differently, and your advice is most likely sound, but this build is nasty solo. After stacking the AOEs, any thing left is easy work. Surprisingly safe.
And Tornad, I had one and needed a place for it. Works well so far. Chaos is beautiful.
Freezing Rain: Slow enhancers in FR do NOT increase the duration of the slow. And they don't increase the recharge debuff either. All they do is increase the movement debuff, which is capped quite early (at 20% afair). With all your slow effects from Storm and Ice powers you should reach this cap easily so the slow enhancers won't have any effect.
Hover: This power does not give KB protection. It used to help, but that was not intended and changed a good while ago. If you are hit you will flip and are unable to do something for a short ammount of time. This was set to be equal to the time you need to stand up when you are KBed while standing on the ground. The only benefit Hover gives against KB is that you won't be pushed back.
Accuracy/Debuff: If you are happy with the way it works for you it's ok. Personally I dislike missing very much, that's why my accuracy is almost twice as high as yours before I activate Leadership:Tactics and before I use FR. Then again, I often fight +3 and +4 enemies. Maybe that spoiled me a bit.
BFR: Yep, this looks really good. That's why I had it, too. But I had it as my 3rd ST hold.
Electric Fence: *shrugs* well, if you like it... -
Quote:I am quite confident that nobody is using five hecatombs in any one build.Quote:You never know. Could be some crazy person with more money then sense that built some 'dream build' in mids and does not understand there is a better way to do it.
After all I know a few people like that. the LOL I GOT ALL PURPLES sort of people that just look at the numbers and don't really do a lot of research into what actually works.
