Neither of them are for a particularly big milestone ... I think you'll all be quite happy when the 60 month (5 years) reward is announced .

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bet you there's someone who isn't!

(Probably along the lines of "Waaaah! I don't want to wait, I want it now and screw those people who have actually waited (and paid) 5 years to get it!")
  2. *puppy dog eyes*

But my 8800 Ultra is the best card I've ever bought....

    *whimpers*

And it'll be out of warranty in about 5 months now. Oh well, hopefully it'll last until the 10 series comes out.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Yes I feel it is a shame that we will be getting the power that we didn't want earlier in the veteran choices, but sometimes even the veterans rewards that are totally new , aren't necessarily wanted by everyone.Personally I don't think I'll be using the boxing gloves outfit from the 39 month veteran.

If I chose a MA scrapper then martial arts gloves aren't anything like boxing gloves, and if it's for a more social reason and we had a heroes/villains fancy dress competition then I'd more likely go as Elvis than Muhammed Ali or Mike Tyson so I think sometimes we just have to roll with the punches (pardon the awful pun) and hope that 3 months later there will be something better. Maybe they are concentrating on something really awesome that for the next 3 or 4 veterans we'll be getting fairly basig ones.

However I suppose anything is better than nothing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I used the boxing gloves on my katana scrapper... which probably explains why he's still such a low level

As for the Pillars of Ice and Flame… There’s a quote somewhere (don’t ask me where, I can’t recall right now) that says that if you show technology to a primitive culture, they’ll regard it as being magic.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Clarks third Law.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Clarke's, surely?
  5. Simple explanation...

    DJ Zero is Mender Silos

  6. Things just keep cropping up!

I want to (hopefully) be able to create a story arc along the lines of Kheldians and VEATS - ie one which gives you missions every 5 levels and will last for your whole heroic/villainous career.

That would be brilliant and would definitely add some depth.
  7. Several people have talked about placing spawns/glowies - I completely agree. It would make such a difference - having to explore levels carefully once again, since you had no idea whether that small saferoom in the office maps would be safe.

And being able to place a boss (Or EB!) just around an unexpected corner - heh, it would be nice, just to shake things up a little.

Another thing would be the types of mobs - I'd love to place spellcasting circle (the one where 3 of them are channelling the green energy skull), rather than the standard type.
  8. Is there anything planned to do with the rather empty 45 month Vet reward or any sort of shake-up planned for the Vet rewards? (Speaking as a 45-monther myself?)

    I love CoX!

I've been playing since October 2004, joining just prior to the heady days of Issue 3 (was in the beta, but couldn't commit to anything then). I'm not going anywhere either. It's my first MMO - while I've dabbled in others (WOW, SWG, LOTRO), nothing has ever came close.

Regardless of all the others coming out (Champions Online, DCU Online and probably Star Trek Online (assuming that's what Cryptic are going to announce soon), I'll always keep coming back here.

    Long may it continue.
  10. I'd imagine you'd access them through Ouroboros - and that they'd load in just like a standard mission would. Also, the creation of them would be handled just like creating a base. Nothing outside of the game itself - at least, as long as they're keeping it simple.

    *shrugs*

*exception: no good ever came of MS Word.

    [/ QUOTE ]

  12. Since the latest patch, this attack doesn't have an animation - why?
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Well, it's a pretty complex thing to add to the game, so they may start off with a basic system, and add more to it based on playability and feedback once it goes live.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is what I think will happen too, possibly with extra stuff unlocked due to maps made, times played, ratings, etc.

Of course, I would hope that maps are only put up as anonymous if they are rated (and that rating leads to badges), since you'll get people gaming the system and others complaining that they can't get the badge, since they are being ignored/victimised.

There will be complaints no matter what (insert "duh" here!)
  14. [ QUOTE ]
The problem is how much of the sources will become open ones. I mean can players will be able to create their own custom weapons, clothings, hair styles, map textures, items and vechiles.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think we'll be given anything other than what's in game already. Too much data to take from one person and then send to everyone else.

I'd like to see better reactions enabled through scripting - if I see a cut scene with someone saying "Alright, prepare to die Hero X", then I don't expect to have to wade through another room of mobs before facing that person. The cutscenes should either trigger the speaker to hunt you down (mmmh, problems for stealth characters?), or they shouldn't trigger until you're right on top of them.
  15. Having just done a mission where you have to kidnap 3 people - all members of the same family - I'd love to be able to make their dialogue when you pick them up tie into each other (ie if you capture both the husband and wife at the same time, they might make reassuring comments to each other, or if it's the mother and son, she tries to make him feel better, while he tells you to leave him alone etc.)

One thing that always bothered me in the Lou's Garage mission early in COH was that when you rescued both the mother and daughter, they were only concerned about if Lou was safe, rather than each other - I'd like to be able to make it context sensitive, somehow)

I will pay NCSoft 10 years subscription if this ends up in the game.

Welcome back DW - The Rani wasn't quite the same
  17. So we know that we're getting this at some point in the future.

We know roughly, what's been promised to us:

    [ QUOTE ]
You'll be able to pick the map, villain group, and objectives, as well as write the dialog and any clues needed for the missions

    [/ QUOTE ]

So what else would you like to see?

    I'd like to see

<ul type="square">[*]ALL maps available to us - including the rare ones from the early levels (burning office map, disco warehouse map (the old PDP one) and the later ones, like the Paragon Police station attack from Villains and the Portal Corp map with all the damage
[*]Also, I'd like to have the capability of accessing seasonal maps - imagine combat on the slopes of the Ski Lodge?
[*]The ability to interlink maps (maybe not at first, but I'd sure like to be able to use the Mayhem/Safeguard Mission maps and click on a truck and end up in the outdoor wood map)
[*]Consequences - the branching dialogue to be enhanced so that a story arc can be like a choose your own adventure - if you fail an objective, I'd like a mission that deals with the consequences, rather than just an "oh dear, that's it then"[/list]
I'm pretty sure that it'll just be single missions at first, but arcs will come later.

So that's what I want. Anyone else care to add their tuppence worth?
  18. Have a good day PRAF! And many more.

Nah, I've been going down the Widow path, playing on Vicious and so far I haven't felt much need for it. It's only been recently, with the higher levels that I've felt the need for greater defence - and the extra resistance is a bonus too.

I'd say it's worth it for the Def alone, not to mention the Psi Res and shorter duration of Mezzes

    [/ QUOTE ]

Was a bit unsure about it, since I don't need to worry about the mezzes and the fact that it's a passive. Actually, if I take this, is it still worth having Indomitable Will?

Just about to hit level 41 and haven't taken this power yet. Is it worth it?
  23. I think you've got a quandry - what you want versus what the developers can provide.

Do they balance co-op zones against the need for villains to be villainous? Do they provide only a villain side zone or a hero side zone? I doubt it.

I think you're asking for too much here. Hopefully, you'll find a way to enjoy the co-op zones. Do what I do - just treat them as if their regular zones - or, in the case of my latest character, have them be an undercover villain, who regains their memories whenever they're in a co-op zone, so that they actually feel like helping. (It's more of a vague thing than a detailed plot though )
  24. [ QUOTE ]
If NC are trying to make this game as real as possible, then they should scrap fiction endings and go for the real world ending.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They're trying to make this superhero game as real as possible? Right, better not use Fly or Teleport, or the laws of physics will get me.

And suppose you get your grand vision, where you end up triumphing over all good... erm, then what? The problem with a villain triumphing is that it tends to end the story for everyone.

I've never seen any villains triumph in such a definitive way in DC/Marvel. Sure, the little things (ahem) - the death of a hero, the loss of a partner. But actually becoming SUPREME RULER OF THE UNIVERSE™? Even the Elseworlds have the heroes win or at least move the universe in the right direction.

Villains can't ever win. There's probably a moral lesson there somewhat, but I lost it in trying to guess what your point was
  25. The War Zone arcs are so obviously written for heroes, with just a few words at the beginning to tell you to put your differences aside (DID YOU JUST TELL DOCTOR MENTAL TO PUT HIS DIFFERENCES ASIDE, VANGUARD WELP?! YOU WILL BE TERMINATED etc etc).

So far, it's been BIG THREAT stuff - the Rikti, the collapse of the timelines (after all, if the timeline collapses, you might not exist - it's enough of an incentive for the more rational villains).

Problem is, there's no way to twist it to your advantage, as most villains would do. Wonder if they can right future co-op arcs to reflect villains better?

    Personality test when you enter?

    Are you:

    1. A Hero
    2. A middle of the road kind of person who would go either way (please leave game until Going Rogue is implemented)
    3. A rational Villain (sure you'll kick puppies, but only if you've got an audience, otherwise you'd spend your time going awwwwww)
    4. An insane villain, in which case, Meatball bananas

And have the story arc change to suit accordingly.
