Hello everyone. I want to say that this has happened to be before. Because of this, I feel the perpetrator should be punished harshly. The only upside to the occurance was that it was not pre-emptively planned, and he simply kicked everyone in left. The fiend was only in our group for a couple weeks, but someone had promoted him to the second highest rank. When I went on vacation, he managed to gain the highest rank, and proceded to conduct his horrid actions.

Also, to everyone picking on the OP, shame on you. I would bet my hourly wages that you are the same kind of person, destroying countless Super Groups by stealing their Salvage, Enhancements, Inspirations, and kicking the hard working members. You are most likely fiends sent from World of Warcraft come over to destroy other MMORPGs.

I have only one more thing to say: I know the leader of DARK, from the Guardian Server, also experienced these horrible trials because he is my friend. I could tell you many more instances of this, but this is not the time, nor the place. If you are willing to mock me for saying what I know in my heart to be true, then you are a lowly person indeed! I suppose technically, you don't. But a little logic would help you along the way. Do you really think one person would sit there and build up so many posts on so many accounts, with so many different typing and personality traits on so many accounts? Or do you think one person would create all their accounts at once, and give them all the same personality and typing traits? Which one seems most likely?

They are not personal private investigators. They are there to help when the game can't, give a human interaction with bugs, and deal with those who break the rules. They aren't there to baby sit SGs to make sure everyone plays nice with each other. There are lots of things they can't do, because it's not their job.

I dissagree. The GMs should have -ZERO- turn around on this. The system is not at fault here, the players are. I hate to say it, but the person who promoted the 'jerk' to the top level should not have.

It is a regretable event. I won't argue that it's an easy thing to go through as an SG. But I won't accept that the system was to blame when the players could have prevented it easily.

Once I get it down pat (and get my Grav / Storm up a bit more. Or my AR / Dev... Or maybe i'll just stick with my Ill / Emp) I can see myself doing it quite a bit. Sure, not every 24 hours, but I can really see myself getting into this TF, and that cut scene has totally been the deal breaker

Even if I get a bad PUG for it, even if it takes us forever and a day to get to it, that cut scene will totally make the trip worth it. It's just that amusing to me. ^.^

While I do regret that there will be those who don't like that particular cut scene.... I love it to pieces. I think it is -the best cut scene to date-. Heck, it's the best string of NPC chatter to date! I know that I will crack up on it each and every time I see it.

Yeah, we knew this, but we were hoping that a 'constant assault' via Hospital would let us over power him. Totally didn't work though. We also hoped that if we could keep him far enough away from the Towers, we could intercept him if we died, and it would take longer for him to get to the rest of the team who were pounding on the towers.

And can I get a confermation / defamation on a rumor? Does the Arachnos Flyer Respawn?

Ran it today, and failed. It was sad.

1 Defender (Rad)
2 Controllers (1 Emp, 1 Kin)
1 Tanker (Inv)
1 Scrapper (MA/Regen)
3 Blasters (each one different from the last)

We ate the missions alive, except for Aeon, which of course was because the person with the Anti-Aeon Temp power forgot they had it until half the team died. It didn't help that we had a couple 'miscommunications' and started the fights early until control was gained over the team (i'm talking heavy fisted control).

The Four AVs, we chewed up and spit out one at a time (someone also lead an accidental double aggro away and died so that one of them returned back to the spawn point, while the other stayed with the rest of the team). But when it came to Recluse? That was too tough for us. We couldn't handle him and his purple pets long enough to take out even one of the Towers, so we had to give up.

We attempted a couple different tactics, which all failed for one reason or another.

We tried to lure Lord Recluse to the ship, so that we could try the "human wave" tactic, but he would get about half way, and decide to run back. We tried to split the team so the Tanker and the Emp would hold off Recluse while everyone else jumped a Tower, but the Tanker couldn't take it, the Emp couldn't keep up, and Recluse STILL seemed to want to jump the other half of the team. It was rough, but fun.

My only regret is we didn't take out the Flier. Which is okay, but I know my Badge 'Lady of the Night' will be doing that, if only for the badges (oh I suppose I'll get some rare recipies too). In the end, it was a solidly good attempt for a PUG (seriously, these were people who were just standing around Statesman at the time) and with a 'specialized' team of people, I can see this as being done pretty consistantly.

(do note that by 'specialized', I don't mean "Granite Tanker + Rads and Darks", I mean "people I know with less of a PUG build". Though I won't argue that a Granite wouldn't have helped)

One little detail. This sentence is incorrect. Every PBAoE that does DAMAGE, has an accuracy check. PBAoE auras that do not deal damage (see Chilling Embrace) do not have an accuracy check, and thus can gain Aggro automatically, with no to-hit check.

This is a subtle difference, and one which you may wish to keep in mind. While it is true that Taunt is a VERY handy tool for Tankers, certain powers may allow you to delay Taunt, in favor of other power choices.

Of course, Ice Armor is most certainly the exception, and not the rule, as it has a Damage Aura and a Non-Damage Aura. This can allow for a player with both to actually out-aggro a Tanker with just Taunt. I don't say that lightly, as I recall most certainly that an Ice Armor Tanker can out aggro two tankers (Fire and Invuln) in the lower levels due to the Auto-Hit nature of one of the Auras.

Also, declaring that it is a "lazy" way to tank by not using Taunt is a fairly subjective view. It's obvious you're referencing the player who simply turns on an Aura and leaps into the middle and stands there, where as a more active player has the potential to be better by moving around, constantly applying new aggro to enemies, attacking to maintain Gauntlet, etc. All without Taunt. Taunt would certainly add onto the ability, but a Tanker who attacks has the benefit of Gauntlet getting a free Taunt on 5 enemies with each hit. Who could be seen as the "lazy" tanker now? The one standing in the middle spamming Taunt, or the one cycling in the occational attack and changing targets? Purely subjective, but not more then you.

In the end, I found your Guide to be a very handy "beginners book to Tanking", though it over emphasized Taunt a bit, and didn't cover the tactics enough. Though it did strike my humor bone a bit and I still found it enjoyable.

One final thought though: You may wish to take fewer 'digs' against play styles (calling one lazy, etc) as you gain more ants with honey then vinegar. I suggest being more open to various play styles, and while denoting which you prefer, it would be best not to deny the validity of another This would allow for a more complete guide, and one that would have a better chance of being more widely accepted.

And after writing all that, I'm totally wondering why this got necro'ed O.o

Just FYI, but PFF de-activates BG mode because Supremacy doesn't go through it. If you want your bots to attack while you're in your PFF, set them to aggresive as you turn it on.

For the most part, it's a combination of things. If I see an attack animation coming for me, I glance over to see if it's going to hit (the icon is there or not) and if I have enough HP to survive it (if not, pop a green). Additionally, if I see something new occuring in the line, I check to see if it's a buff I'm familiar with, or something new. If it's something new, I'll right click it if I can, and check it out.

I kind of have a memory for that kind of thing, so I don't know how easy it is to just remember these things. Like, did you know that when the Lost / Rikti use their energy sword, it's the same "status effect" symbol as the plasma rifle? The picture is the same, but the description, damage, and effects are different. Just something I've picked up from knowing.

And even the symbols themselves can tell you if it's a negative effect. If you see a "down arrow" in the picture, it's most likely a negative effect. If you see an "up arrow" in the picture, it's a positive effect. Think of Healing Aura and Twilight Grasp. If you see the Healing Aura icon show up, you know you're getting healing. But it also has an "up arrow" in the picture behind the plus. If you see the Twilight Grasp icon, you could be getting healed, or debuffed. That's when you use a little common knowledge. Is there a Dark Corruptor or Mastermind on the team? Are you fighting the CoT? Would you normally expect Malta to have Twilight Grasp? Things like that. Smoke Grenade is an easy one as well. If your allies use it, you won't see the icon there. If the enemies use it, you will. Infact, that's how most of the powers are. Things like Holds, Debuffs, attacks, etc you won't see there unless they're being used against you.

Also, someone mentioned they would look there more often if it was in an easier spot to see. The bar I look at is the one in the expanded Team menu. That way I can see mine, compared to everyone else's, and have the HP bar right there.

I wouldn't mind if they put the smoke component around each affected character's head. That would fit the bill nicely, woudln't it?

I actually check it constantly through a fight, to see what's affecting me at any time, and how much of it is new or negative. If I suddenly see everything vanish, I check my icon bar, because I know they aren't dead. Why? Because there are no rag dolling bodies!

But yeah, I do check it consistantly.
