Arrrr Statesman. this be an interesting idea.
But I needs ta be askin' ye.
Just how complicated do ye plan on making these things anyhow?
point, counterpoint, point, counter point. etc, infinity
until planning out a build becomes like doing yer taxes: long complicated and boring as all hell.
Arrrrr -
figured you'd knock that one out like nothing Clint.
thanx -
hmmm a question for those that might know.
have we had any confirmation about whether or not the character slots are going to be shared on the server (ie: 8 characters on guardian period) or if they'll be seperate? (8 for CoV, 8 for CoH). I didn't see it on the rest of the primer and the search page hates me.
I know i've seen threads on this in the past but i cant remember if it was ever settled by a red name or an article.
my SG's trying to decide if they're staying on one server or moving to another for CoV, and most of us are AlT Junkies. -

Um - I think Geko meant "in the coming updates." I'm not sure whether any of these will make it into I6 or not - so let's not set up any expectations!

Are we sure that Statesman is the good guy and Recluse is the villian?!
Ill bet he kicks a dog and pushes an old lady down a flight of stairs on his way to work everyday.
[/ QUOTE ]
see, now him acting like that would make him MY hero. lol
but I'm just sick like that. -
slightly off topic.
has anyone had a chance to test out Chimera under i5 yet?
I wonder if he's still Katana or he's moved on to Archery? -

Thanks for the suggestions...we'll definitely revisit the Shard to add new content (badges, missions, etc.), reformat current TF's (a little less grindy), make the teleporters fit the zone better, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
a little? last time i did one it took 8 hours. 4 hours TOPS. would be nice.
much less repetiveness in the mission flow would also help them be more enjoyable.
I did Calvin scott twice because it was quick and light.
read: i liked it that way
capiche?
i shouldn't dread signing on for a TF like i dread signing for a mortgage loan. -
[ QUOTE ]
I can tell you one thing for sure, Stefan Richter (aka Lord Recluse) was referring to his sister Monica in that line from the comic.
[/ QUOTE ]
Dammit Manticore! you just spoiled weeks maybe even months of pointless speculating on trivial subjects.
seriously though, thanx -
sorry States, gotta call bs on this one
most fire tanks typically take Superjumping anyways for acrobatics, so combat jumping is also used for immobilization protection and a minor defense buff.
again: whats the point of burn?
if it had been changed to a single hit attack instead of leaving it a PbAoE, it might still be usefull, even with the long recharge. as it stands the damage is gone, the recharge is much longer and it just became something that many might use once in a while.
it was the point of being a fire tank, trading defense for offense.
you've turned this into a team only power, if the duration makes up for the longer recharges. -
grats jack
I was thinking the same thing,
Stheno could be the sister that Recluse was reffering to in the comic.
a sister in divinity as it were. -
Priorities:
1: Family
2: everything else
you made the right choice jack. -
fun set
gender specific sounds would be a nice touch.
it IS the sonic set after all.
the secondary effects seem a little out of place for a blaster set though. might as well release psionic/radiation and Dark blast for blasters well. -
Farewell Tour eh? take your time. business first. Catch all confirmed information threads that no one seems to read except us die hards second.
as always Clint. yer the man!
and it might not even be the last CoV Primer we'll beg from you.
remember a Primer is usualy the charge you use to ignite the real deal. unfortunately CoV beta still appears to be a lil ways off. -

I sincerely agree. Getting rid of stores would suck.
*runs around yelling at the top of his lungs*
Come see my new movie: War of the Worlds! Now in theaters! Yaaarrrggghhhh! Read more about the origin of Statesman and Lord Recluse in the upcoming novel Dianetics by L. Ron Hubbard! Waaaagghhh!

ah crap, another runner....
*picks up and loads his rifle*
hmmm at this range i'll need a little boost in damage.
*smashes face into wall beside him repeatedly*
ah yeah better than build up
*passes out* -
Kali - sounds like an interesting idea. could work. and if it was done right it could also limit our slotting so we wouldn't waste slots either. i'm not a number cruncher but somethings should limit themselves so your not wasting your resources if theres a hard cap to its abilities. ie: 6 slotting superspeed for running speed could NOT happen, ever.
miss kitty - regen scrapper? kitty ... claws ... rope ... oh dear ...
*runs away*
EVERYONE - perspective: I think we're all getting a little carried away here (myself included). all we really know is states made a comment, made a face and then we got a hold of the info. maybe the only reason he had a disgusted look on his face was from a case of bad gas.
as for this Desperation system for Blasters, all it'll really do is ENCOURAGE blasters to try and tank, because they'll have one more state of being, in addition to healthy and dead. they'll have crippled uber! and instead of running around screamming "HEAL!" they'll scream WHEN healed "[censored]?!?! " -

At this point I am inclined to say that, if I had my choice, I would do away with enhancements alltogether. I would replace it with a points system of sorts.
[/ QUOTE ]
but then what would we do with all of our influence? bases?
charity? rebuild boomtown? send cookie bribes to geko to lay off our tankers?
as it is now. enhancements (while amusing) are simply the only influence sink we have. and the only way of modifying our powers in any direction whatsoever.
i do like the ability to change it up from time to time though. playing golf with hellions in Atlas has taught me that much. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's not doom, but it sounds like some serious reduction in quality of life. Perhaps it'd be better to drop them entirely and find some other way to handle this mechanic. All this stuff will do is emphasize enhancements as loot.
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope your wrong about this Kali, otherwise we'll have to give more thought to whether or not ol' Jack really has taken a Shining to lewt. -
indeed. having to rely on contacts for enhancements would be a nightmare, especially considering they charge more for them to boot.
...
that reminds me ....
*paints a bullseye on miss kitty, and hangs a sign on the ropes that says 'geko suxxors' and hides behind a regen scrapper ....*
FREE COOKIES!!!! just ask the kitty !!! -
I hadn't even thought about that.
having to rely on drops for enhancements would be annoying.
never mind having to seek out certain factions for DO's and SO's.
lets see:
Natural- Crey, Family,
Magic - CoT, Banished Pantheon,
Mutation - DE, Lost,
Science - Council, Rikti, Vahz
Technology - Sky Raiders, Nemesis, Freakshow, Clockwork, Malta,
I'm probably wrong on some of these but still, you get the idea.
and I thought I hated the Circle of thorns before ... -

I'm surprised more people aren't flipping out about the Stamina comments. he said he wasn't going to remove it, or make it inherent. He didn't say he wasn't going to nerf it. He did however say he wants players to make a choice about what powers to use and when.
[/ QUOTE ]
I said it elsewhere, but the Stamina thing boggles me. They couldn't figure out a way to drop it by 80% and then just apply that 80% to our base regen rate or something?
I'm *sure* there's a few fairly simple solutions that end up as a nice buff to non-Stamina people (less downtime is more fun than standing around), and does little or nothing to the current Stamina users (which is like, what, 80% of players?).

well think of it this way: as heros stopping a mugging we could:
1: swoop in and fly off with the victim, saving them
2: attempt to talk the mugger out of mugging the victim.
3: stand inbetween the mugger and the victim.
4: call the police
5: call several other muggers and see if the mugger is within his rights to do so.
6: punch the mugger in the head knocking him to kingdom come
guess what we do?
guess what the dev's are gonna do? -

I suppose the crime rate should go up drastically in Galaxy City, and drop in Atlas Park in response to superhero activity.
[/ QUOTE ]
By this logic Faultline should look like a moshpit of Vahz, Clockwork and CoT's and probably even be spilling out into Skyway by now. -
ah what the heck, i might as well enter as well.
great submissions all.

This all looks pretty fun. I'm especially looking forward to the added powersets! I can't wait to make an archer, which brings me to my point... Why does the blaster only get archery, but not trick arrows (where as the defender gets both)? I'm assuming archery would be something along the lines of different ways of attacking with a standard bow and arrow, and trick arrows (as the name implies) utilizes various types of arrows, like net arrows, exploding arrows etc. etc. It seems like these would make a great primary and secondary set for a blaster, something akin to how the assault rifle and gadget power sets go great together now.
[/ QUOTE ]
while i do agree with you, I beleive the reason trick arrows are not available to blasters because they also appear to have some debuffs to them. well that and they're going to be Controller secondaries. -

New Trial
I think the Dam/Faultline was mentioned
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm highly sceptical about this (although I hope I'm wrong). I haven't seen anything about the Faultline trial beyond rumour mongering, but I would expect a new Trial or TF in the new zone.
Has anyone seen any real evidence that the Faultline trial is on the way?
[/ QUOTE ]
The Faultline Trial has been planned since early beta. Check out Prima's strategy guide and they'll even tell you what the original plan was for the Faultline trial and what it entailed/will entail.
[/ QUOTE ]
from what i've read in the old prima guide the Faultline trial was supposed to be similar to how the Terra Volta trial is now.
Protect the power towers (4) from an unceasing onslaught of baddies that want to destroy them.
you can see the power towers thru the warwall at the far back of the Faultline zone. from what i hear there was a bug in beta that actually let people teleport into the zone.
makes me wonder if the zone is instanced, its own zone or just on the other side of the warwall in faultline. be pretty interesting if you could watch heroes doing the trial in there.
