  1. Fearsome Stare is a gigantic cone fear. Petrifying Gaze is single-target hold.
They are both the same magnitude, but Fearsome Stare has a chance to apply an extra mag1 terrorize.

PG is just about useless against AVs.

Don't forget Fearsome Stare. Its -ToHit is of the same magnitude as Darkest Night.

So am I, and I don't. I've never viewed it as offensive.
  4. Rad Blast's single-target damage actually gets pretty darn good once you've got all the necessary procs in it. Sure, it'll cost you some 400 million to get them all, but methinks it's worth it. I've got my Rad/Dark Corruptor dealing blaster damage with the things. A Defender wouldn't be too far behind (since proc damage is static).

You know it's a good day when Neutrino Bolt hits something for 500 damage.

So, once IOs are introduced, it becomes a very well-rounded set. The AoEs don't get as much benefit from set bonuses since they're actually pretty standard, though the sets (such as Posi's Blast) do enhance them very nicely. It remains a formidable AoE set, but it also gains very formidable single-target damage.
  5. To the OP: You'll probably want to take Shadowfall a lot earlier than you did. There's a few times when I didn't pick it up as early as I could, and I always regretted it.

The 7.5% defense is really nice to stack with things like Darkest Night and Fearsome Stare before you've got SOs (you won't be flooring things until you've got stuff slotted). It makes a big difference.

To StGabe: TAKE FEARSOME STARE! Dark Miasma may sort of seem like it has many defining powers (Tar Patch, Darkest Night, Fluffy; it has a lot of good ones), but Fearsome Stare is at the top of them all. It is THE defining power of the set. There is no situation that cannot be made better with the liberal application of Fearsome Stare. To not take it and slot it (I usually slot for control over debuff) as soon as you can is to torture yourself needlessly. It's that good.

To Nobody in General: I also really don't like Petrifying Gaze, but that's mostly because I play a Dark/Rad. Rad Blast has Cosmic Burst, which happily fills my single-target control needs. Dark Blast has no such power, so Petrifying Gaze can be viewed as useful in its case.
  6. If you want to really mess with flippers, do this:

Find the low price on say, a piece of rare salvage and put in bids 100,000-200,000 above it. Get yourself like 80 of them, if not more. As you get them, begin selling them for just enough to break even on the whole thing.

Do this for a few days, and you'll move flippers off of the item until the price becomes less stable. If they knew what you were doing, they'd hate you.
  7. It's also worth noting that, with combat jumping, you can slip right through the fences surrounding Atlas Plaza. You do it just by walking right in between two posts. Just walk into them for a while and you'll get it.

I'm unsure if it's related to latency issues or not. I've never been able to get through any other fences.
  8. Grey is neutral.

I don't know in what way, exactly, but rep seems to be weighted.

"Straight-acting" really isn't derogatory. At least, I've never viewed it as such. It doesn't mean they're trying to hide anything or suppress their behavior. All "straight-acting" means is that the person doesn't fall into the classic stereotype. There are no really outward signs of the person's sexual preferences.

The opposite would be "flaming" (as in "flaming homosexual"), meaning the person does fall into the classic stereotype. This can be viewed as more derogatory, and you won't find many people using it to describe themselves like you will with "straight-acting".

Most of these things have been "fixed" but there still remain any number of ways to reach 50 with a minimal amount of game play. As I mentioned before the well known power leveling techniques that are left untouched by the developers must be considered acceptable forms of game play.

Do I personally agree with the practice of power leveling? No, but then again I can't dictate how others play the game either. For that matter neither can anyone else that doesn't have a red name and even they have limits.

Oooh, don't forget farming the Kraken in the Sewer Trial!

...nobody does that trial any more. It's a shame, since the trials are all very unique gameplay experiences. It's even more of a shame that there's really nothing like them for villains.
  11. I have so far only gotten rep in instances where I have been helpful in some way. For me, at least, it seems to be WAI.

According to RedTomax: TG -12.5% + DN -37.5 = -50% damage before any rank or level modifiers.
No, I mean Tar Patch. Damage debuffs are resisted by damage resistance. Any resistance debuffs therefore directly buff any damage debuffs you have.

    -37.5% * 1.3 =~ -50%
  13. Team A would be more broken than team B. We can never bar any slip ups, and Team A would be far more capable of handling themselves in such a situation.

In Team B, you'd have one very safe person while the rest of the team would be considerably more vulnerable. If aggro isn't held perfectly, then problems will arise.

In Team A, the accuracy of every enemy in the mission is going to be floored. A single rad infection will get +4 bosses down to an accuracy of about 11%. That's pretty much there (floor is 9.1% in the case of +4 bosses). The second is just overkill.

That's just from RI. The damage debuffs from EF and the Kin would be nearly as bad. Every enemy would just about end up at the damage floor of 5%.

The end result is that every person on Team A will be every bit as invulnerable as the Granite Tanker on Team B. That Ice Tanker would be completely useless. You might as well get yourself 5 Blasters. Nobody needs to hold aggro.

Debuffs already have far larger values than buffs because of how they scale.

Name me a single, non-personal defense buff that can get you 26% (Darkest Night or Fearsome Stare), 48% defense(RI). How about 58.5% (Hurricane or Chill of the Night)? Dark Miasma can stack well over 110% onto a group of enemies, is this justified?

Sure, they have to deal with the innate debuff resistance of LTs (10%) and Bosses (20%), but that's not nearly enough to make up for the huge disparity.

Then you have to think about how this would affect damage debuffs. Damage scaling from level doesn't take the form of a damage buff, so damage debuffs will take out a nice, neat, and usually huge chunk of that.

Tar Patch + Darkest Night = -50% damage on enemies without any damage resists. That, put simply, cuts their damage in half. Without the purple patch, one could happily do that to any enemy, regardless of level. Twilight Grasp and Fluffy allow for even greater stacking.

I wouldn't be against letting my Dark/Rad Defender do the RWZ Challenge, but doing this would let him prance all over it. You'd see defenders complete the challenge at a handicap while simultaneously soloing a pylon.
  14. I didn't put much effort into leveling. Rather, I'm busy doing some ebil marketeering when it's most ripe. My Corruptor wants shinies, and that's how to pay for them.

I've so far just about doubled my wealth on said corruptor, going from around 200 million to around 400 million whilst picking myself up, among other things, a full Posi's Blast set.

That's nearly double the normal strength.
Your numbers are off (I'm going by my spreadsheet)

+4 con minions have a 70% chance to hit without any modifications
A 31.3% ToHit Debuff, with the purple patch, brings them down to around 49%
Without the purple patch (acting just like defense in the case of minions, it'd be less effective against higher-ranked mobs due to their innate debuff resistance), it would be 26%, so a little over twice as effective.

    The point remains, though.
I do agree it'd be too powerful when you start stacking things.

I just like pointing things out.

    Fun fact:

Taunt is the ultimate aggro tool. It doesn't work on some sort of value scale, it's an on or off sort of thing. If an enemy's taunted, then it has no choice but to attack the person who taunted it. No amount of damage or other affects can override it.
  17. It would only have a chance to fire once each time you use the power.

You'll still have to actually get those +10 mobs down to 0 hp to get a reward. That -31.3% defense will help, but gosh, hope you've got a snack handy. And you'll still be xp-capped, getting the same reward as you would for about a +4 mob.
Also, those +10 mobs would still have a huge ToHit and accuracy bonus against the player. A +10 minion with that -31.3% ToHit would still have an 88% chance to hit.

    Benumb

The -Damage might seem different in PvP because it's -50% of BASE damage. It works exactly like damage buffs, just with a negative value. -50% will get rid of 1.5 SOs worth of damage.

I was a lot more active a few years back. I kinda quieted down around I7 or I8. That may or may not be a good thing?
  21. If I turn off my rep-meter, how will I know if people love me or not? What other way of telling could there possibly be?!
  22. I'd really like to be able to see the subforums from the outer-most level. Allow me to expand and contract the lists of subforums like you can with the different language forums.

Secondly, I'm having the exact same problem that I had when Exteel moved its forums over to the new boards. My avatar doesn't work any more.
The link to my avatar is here: http://premium1.uploadit.org/Vitamin...PhoneSmall.PNG
The forums won't recognize it as valid since "PNG" is capitalized, but the link is wrong if you make it lowercase. Please fix this by making extensions non-case-sensitive.

Third: The dev digest is broken (html doesn't get rendered) and none of the links work.

The old forums had you do this, you know.

Okay a Scrapyarder, literally, ran so far away from me inside this mission that they de-agroed from me. =/

Council warwolves (I was fighting lvl 43s) also do this on a regular basis. It was annoying that I had a mission full of them. I'd throw out Sleet, stun one with Screech, and the other would rocket off to who knows where, not to be seen for at least a few minutes.

CoT mages (fire, ice and air) also get included on the guilty list for this sort of thing. What's most annoying is that their running behavior persists even when they're terrorized. If I cast Fearsome Stare on a bunch of CoT they'll all sit there for a few seconds before bolting, even if I haven't done anything to them. They won't attack unless I attack them, but they'll happily run away despite being terrorized.

    Vigilance

Defenders tend to use less endurance on teams because they don't have to spend it all killing things. My Dark/Rad Defender has never had endurance issues on teams, not in Issue 1, not in Issue 7, not in Issue 15. Solo, though, he's always running out despite my slotting.
