I don't think its really been mentioned before, but not exactly mind/fire dom specific (More squishy specific)
The best incarnate abilities are usually :
Interface - Reactive 75% DoT
Destiny - Rebirth Heal/Regen
Lore - I haven't messed with the new pets *that* much but I'm pretty sure the Phantoms have a buff pet that will give you a 90 second adrenaline boost type power that has +Regen+recovery + recharge and slow res. I suppose some builds could use them (the pets) for damage, in which case, find which ones have the most ranged attacks and go from there.
*Edit* I think the polar lights might have your best ranged attack chain if you were going for damage. -
Not to be too mean or anything but that build is so bad it makes me think this is a troll post.
Also, Grav/Ice is a close runner up to being as amazing as a flying/TP'ing grav/psi dom who controls the outcome to zone fights with amazing skill. -

We practiced making rainbows. It was epic.
Fiery, unlock the rainbow trail aura before the next match or you are benched. -
There must be something with "Earth" powers because check the durations from Earth Assault. Seismic Smash and Fissure both have the same 5.96 second duration on their mez timers.
Also adding to the list. EM pulse on controllers is a 7.45 second base hold and synaptic overload on Doms is a 7.45 second base confuse. -
For some reason the AoE Controls in mind control for controllers only are longer as well.
(Terrify, Total Domination, Mass Confusion)
Its just been the way it is since the mez system was changed.
Also, like Fiery said the more "Broken" Mez would have to be TK being completely auto hit and unresistable and Soulstorm which provides unresisted Knock up if you are near the ground and hit with it. -
Quote:That's a sad attitude to have as a Vet player who I'm sure your team would look to for advice. If you look back to the dUmb team on the freedom league, we managed to squeak out a few wins and ties against Post Op and U2BG with the storm team despite being out matched in talent and experience. The league at this point is almost over after week one because there is an imbalance of vets/newer players that should not have occurred in the first place. What should have happened (for example) is your team should have had 3-4 people you chose then others from the draft, same with Artic's team, same with Cherry's team, etc. etc. It didn't and basically you and Artic are going to keep rolling everyone else, teams are going to drop (Spyne's team is already dropping) and basically just your team and Artic's team will be left week 2 or 3.
I'd hope that rather than throwing in the towel and completely discounting your teammates for any hope of improvement, you'd take what you've learned as a player who has been around and help them step up and be better players.
EDIT I'VE BEEN ASKED TO CORRECT THIS POST THAT U2BG DID NOT IN FACT LOSE TO THE STORM TEAM, ONLY TIED IT. SORRY FOR THE VAGUENESS
EDIT AGAIN WE BEAT THEIR D6 TEAM ONCE I HEARD THEY R USE RINGERS THOUGH
Quote:You're welcome.
D6: UTBG vs dUmb
Game 1: dUmb wins 4-2.
Game 2: U2BG wins 14-2.
Game 3: U2BG wins 12-3.
EDIT ONE LAST TIME! I forgot what this post was about, but looking back at that thread we were really really bad and lost a lot. -
Quote:Actually, I believe the fear is that there are enough "stacked teams" in the league already, so adding in another one isn't desirable.
With this league being a continuation of the boot camp we had, I would have thought that teams made up of half and half vets to new people would have been a much better option, but it didn't turn out that way. Ah well.
The irony behind this post is sadly two fold. First with stacked teams, everyone but ours and Spynes team has 4-6 people I'd consider Veteran in the sense of experience. Spyne doesn't have them, and we have more. That being said Artic with his 5 ish vets played to an 8 - 8 draw against us last night and managed to win their other 3 matches.
The second part was, the way the draft went down, allowing the teams to be as they are today. There were people, who if picked for their ability and experience would have helped to balance things out even further, but instead they were passed over in the first two rounds for friends (which there is nothing wrong with, if you aren't looking to be competitive) and allowed to go to the teams looking to strengthen their roster even further in the 3rd and 4th round.
As a second separate point, I'm pretty sure you can ask anyone on our team which was the most fun match last night and they'd tell you it was against Artic's team because it was the closest match. Boot camp was great for holding hands and teaching everyone the basics, but now that you have teams out there who are throwing together legitimate spikes its time to take a few lumps (like every single one of us has done in the past) and try to learn and better yourselves. This is a learning experience in the sense if you want to competitively PvP you are going to need to play some semi competitive teams.
Rather than looking at how stacked teams might be, see it as an opportunity to challenge yourself to be better.
As a final point, and I'll post this up on CAPE, because this is a learning league if any team has any questions from key set ups, tactics, or just how to play a toon or would like help setting up some practices and drills for their team I'll gladly try to make some time in the evenings to hop over and see if I can't help out. Because like I said, things are fun when they are competitive, not when you are just rolling a team. -
I had a dream I rolled an Ill/Fire/Ice dom and finally managed to beat CoH.
-
Get an Elec/SD/Levithan Scrap with tier 4 Ion Judgment. It won't be good at anything in PvP, but it'll put him in his place.
Judgment, SC, L-Rod, and summon water spout for good measure.
Also, you could pretty much bring anything else and draw him. MM's don't kill you, you let them kill you by standing there like an idiot in their debuff patch/mess of pets. -
Quote:This is a point I've repeated about a dozen times in this forum.I am inclined to agree even though all the arguments here are lol. We all know psi blast on blasters, concentrated strike on scrappers, and sharks on stalkers are overpowered. Live with it and take some countermeasures to protect yourself from those three. (self heals/phase/hyber)
If you look at the damage of a Psi/EM blaster it is comparable but slightly less than a Fire/EM blaster. Both blasters spend a similar amount of time animating their attack chain (psy around half a second less) though fire will deal slightly more damage.
The difference is, the fire damage comes in as the attacked are launched, where as for Psy, Will Dom + Psi Dart hit about the same time as you fire TK. In both cases attackers spend near the same time in animation firing these attacks, the only difference is when you see the damage come in.
Once you learn that, you'll understand that any situation where a Psy/EM breaks hiber, a Fire/EM could have done it too. Its just people still don't associate icons on their buff bar, with the damage they will be receiving, and are likely to react more proactively to the fire damage that is dropping their HP bar, than the Psi damage that is incoming, that will do the same.
Where you see the true advantage of Psy damage is in a team setting where you have multiple psi blasters firing off Will Dom/Dart/TK at the same time and having someone try to out heal that as it significantly cuts down on the margin of error one can have for getting a heal off. (Something that seldom if ever happens in RV) -
Quote:Not really, you just bring something with more than mag 9 KB and have knockback spikes that damage spam people to death as they try to recover.I didn't realize the f2p accounts couldn't use IO set. Team arena events with no IOs might be a lot of fun.
Which isn't much different from TK and Soulstorm I suppose. -
Lets see here, 0 for 1.
Quote:If you used your brain power, you could probably also infer that the hollows was a level 6 zone that was connected to the most common starting zone in the game. That quote isn't a reflection of the PvP population, its a reflection of players migrating to the next nearest zone once they get their first few levels. Its been long known there are are a much much larger amount of low level toons than 50's floating around (Which is where most PVP occurs, and even if the zone wasn't for level 50, you would still want to be because of the way slots exemp)One of the developers went so far as to once say that the Old-Hollows map, the pre-issue 12 version, averaged more player traffic... that is the number of unique players entering the zone... for each server... than all of the PvP open-area zones and arenas combined.
For added humor, I can't think of a PvP toon I had pre i13 that didn't go through the hollows mission arcs on his way to 50.
0 for 2
Quote:The simple facts are these: The PvP player population in City of Heroes was never large enough to justify the resources that were spent to develop Issue 4. The PvP player population has never been a large, or profitable, part of the player-base. NCSoft nor Paragon Studios have any financial incentive to focus on PvP development for this game, City Of Heroes.
Annnnnnd 0 for 3
Quote:Now, I get what you are trying to accomplish here.
If you think that you are going to be successful in rallying other Player-versus-Player enthusiasts against Matt "Positron" Miller for a deliberate out-of-context quote that is framed to make a non-existent player faction seem more important than it was ever was...
You are not.
He doesn't really need to rally anyone. There is no significant new population to rally, and what little is left of the old population already know the devs stance on things.
It was a funny bit of Irony is all coming from Posi.
I know its the internet, but please, for the sake of the CoH Community, think a little before you post. -
PFF provides defense against Psi.
PFF was nerfed because it provided too much defense/elusivity for blasters/doms in an APP.
It was nothing to run around with 6-8 people shooting at you and flooring all of their to hit values even on builds with significant Acc and To-hit. It was broken, people joked how broken it was.
Psi Defense can come from Force Fields, Mind Link, anything that gives ranged defense (So yes even cold shields) any AoE defense powers (Steamy Mist, Shadow fall, arctic fog, etc) Indomitable will for Doms/Trollers
Psi Resists can come from Shadow Fall, Any epic Res Shield, Tough, Mind Link, Aegis Proc, Impervium Armor proc (which you can slot up to 5 of for 15% Res right there), Sonic Dispersion and various other sets that provide 3% res for slotting.
Hibernate has a 240 second recharge and after it is used, no matter how fast you get it to recharge there is the "No Phase" period to deal with.
PFF provides lesser survivability in exchange for a 30 second recharge, no mobility penalty and no "No Phase" period to deal with. -
I like to think of myself as a tastey left over you can enjoy at like 3 AM after going out to eat. Pretty good, for whats left.
Wuz just messing, most of my active pve toons are on Virtue so I'd be the last person who could talk. RP or not, doesn't change the fact you're still probably the best rad/caller I ever teamed with, even if it was just mostly for KB. -
Also I can't go to the old dUmb site, since my anti virus says there is some sort of malicious script tied to it. Beware!
-
Quote:Someone was surprised you were the first round pick! But nah we were surprised you and dawun both went first like that. Our plans were all sorts of foiled.SOMEONE didn't get drafted by the dUmb team in the champion league...SOMEONE is a little disappointed (though Kara's on my team at least!)
We did need an emp for our first round, since psoma is a pslacker, but after we saw the other first round picks we just started picking people at random. -
Quote:I've been trying to find the hard drive where I had the spreadsheets stored (That computer fried, but I know I saved the HD), it wasn't much more than Minions/LT's and Bosses were defeated in between purple drops. Those numbers aren't precise enough for me, but I appreciate seeing the extra results. They don't contradict MrLiberty, which is important and gives me more assurance of his recollections.
Thanks.
At some point I started to record all recipe drops, but I don't think that was until half way through it. I tried to find the thread before the one mentioned above, but haven't had the free time to track it down recently. -
Can we have him on our team? I hear he RP's a mean rad!
-
I think when I ran my numbers over a month (A year or so ago >.<), with a sample size of 33 ish purples I was getting 1/3700 foes defeated per purple using +8 mobs w/ bosses.
