Quote:You are correct!I like how my posts get deleted simply because I use actual published numbers to prove someone else wrong. That's cool, I guess. I somehow have this feeling that Mod12 was hired to peruse the forums and delete anything PvP-related that came across as negative.
The things we don't like?
Either walk away and find something else to do, which is what I did because track record says a-lot of negative things incoming...
-or- get used to it.
Free speech doesn't exist here. Obviously, and especially if you have a point.
I wish there were a more polite way to convey negative feelings about the direction of this game without actually pissing people off.
Showing numbers is telling the truth, and the truth is more often than not... a very ugly thing. -
Not even close. Through the tunnel there is a slew of exciting adventure and challenge- observe the background. Also, It's far more beautiful and detailed.
Nice addition to the avatar btw.
You keep on trucking Golden Girl you are one of my favorite people here. -
I hope i18 is pure win.

Quote:the state of "not going anywhere" for this game includes forward, Just ask the base editors.Last I knew, CoX and NCSoft were in the "doing just fine, thanks" area (and always have been), not "barely survive". No one here is in competition with WoW. No one in the industry is in competition with WoW. WoW is the 500 lb. gorilla in the room. It does whatever it wants.
Been said before. We still seem to be here and continuing to add stuff.
I can haz stuffz??
and if it is going forward its entirely too slow. Keyphrase: trickle-fed to death.
adding "more stuff" doesn't include "quality" in most cases.
That gorilllillilillla is 800lbs actually.
This is just a comparison of whats doing these days...
THIS is the City of Heroes/Villains game.
THIS is the game I am currently beta testing.
Yes.
You can haz all my stuff.
All of it.
All my sg's all my vg's all my purped out brutes and tanks. I'll pass everything to you.
global is @Kaiser242
Just find me ingame and send me a tell.
Rabbit out. -
Quote:uh-huh.They might, but it's highly doubtful that it's cost effective. To get any decent coverage you can't have A commercial, you have to have a series of them (or the same one run lots and lots and LOTS of times). They'd never get enough people to join to cover that. Those types of things are way WAY expensive and it wouldn't be worth it. If anything, ads should be on gaming and comic book websites and maybe some comic book ads (way cheaper, and focused more on the proper demographics). TV and movie stuff is way beyond what CoX's budget will allow, even with NCSoft ponying up more cash like they have been.
Remember, WoW has so much money they can afford to piss it away like that.
And everywhere you see opportunities for CoX ads instead you will see WoW ads.
This will continue.
NCSoft -Barely- advertises for this game.
So it will -Barely- survive.
-If at all.
Prepare yourself NCSoft: The competition is about to rear their ugly heads and get serious.
Farewell and best wishes! -
Hate to sound like a broken record player...
Its all about the quality.
Deliver unto thy customers a complete and finished product that is above and beyond what is out there and people will change their tune.
Yes they will.
Deliver mediocrity and it will be noticed instantly and broadcast no matter how much "under the carpet sweeping" goes on.
Yes it will.
I wonder how many people that don't use the forums are unhappy...
People use emphasized expletives to put weight behind how much it means to them.
People are passionate about this game.
When things aren't right and the people have good reason: Expect the Expletives.
Also: Villains lurk here.
Edit: I wonder how many devs want to strangle me right now... -

Quote:Good points!Yes: "You are supposed to hit the power before you go in". Any person, tank or otherwise, should be able to tell you that. Inspirations would do more good than a random effect if there is an ambush. Or is the +movement buffs going to stop a wipe from an ambush.
Also I have a tank, (I'm not a tank or any of my other characters) so your everyone doesn't fit.
The person wiping from a devloution should say 'why did i do that then' not why did I buy that pack.
I did go out on a limb there with the whole "every tank" thing. Sorry about that.
alot of the times I was tanking or with tanks, I have seen plenty of misfires and mob stumbling when everyone was trying to rest and recover from wounds. Ive been in enough combat that went from 0 to "omg we are overwhelmed" to click on anything I could for the team to survive. Most of the time self destruct was used to buy everyone the few seconds they needed, yeah, ambush.
For me its a matter of "this thing I bought should have made me more powerful"
not "might turn me into a monkey when I least need to be"
but that's just me and I'm sure that I'm not alone there.
+rep to you -
Quote:Looks like I'm gonna pass on this one.
I have a toon that could use the wolf tail, but I'm not paying $10 for just one costume part for one character.
The other boosters that I bought had decent powers, but this one seems meh to me. And the chance of turning into a rikti monkey? TOTALLY breaking of my RP. I would never use the power because of that. Given the awesomeness that is Ninja Run, or the mission teleporter, this weird disadvantage is a deal-breaker for me.
Ah well. Plenty of other new stuff in 7 weeks.
perhaps a patch that would give the user of said packs the options to "disable unwanted side effects"
they should have taken a poll on including that "chance to turn into a rikti monkey" in this booster.
I think everyone that is a tank would say - NO.
I can see a tank about to go into a deathtrap of a mob, and while in that mob... hits the power seeking a temp boost to survive, and instead turns into a monkey
keyword: team-wipe.
When that happens <and it will> that person is going to say "Why did I buy this?"
I'm sure someone <for whatever reason> will say "you are supposed to hit the power before you go in"
Any tank will tell you, combat situations typically don't allow for such planning. Keyword : Ambush.
Any power that inadvertently works as a sabotage should not be included in a package labeled "booster"
That includes temp powers that de-buff.
It doesn't fit the definition of what a "booster" is. -
Maybe I see strange things because I am a strange person.
One thing is for sure, Throughout my life I have never been good at following rules that don't make sense. I try with the best intentions oh but I do, it just works out That no matter what happens those rules will be broken either accidentally by me or by Proxy.
So I quit trying to follow rules it just backfires and makes everything worse.
VERY...strange... -

Quote:Even if that were true I would still support disregarding that policy. It's 100% against policy for rednames to post using a non-redname account.
I want to know what their intentions are and how they feel about things like players attitudes, where the game stands as a whole, what their limitations truly are and maybe even something players aren't aware of such as other departments that have communication breakdown that the devs often wind up getting blamed and flamed for.
-anyway-
We can learn a-lot from each-other and get more good things said and done without the red tape getting in the way.
I haven't seen anything on policy that forbids them from posting with alt accts...
they can put whatever they want into whatever package they want and sell it.
My beef is I want a finished quality product... and a new record player because I think mine is broken. -
Quote:Thank you very much. Welcome to the forums and the game. I hope you stay here a very long time and I wish you the best adventures!I'm kinda new here so maybe I don't understand the issue or something. But my way of looking at it is this - there was a couple cool things and a couple of lame things, so if you liked it more than you dislike it then buy it and if vice versa then don't buy it. But it seems kinda silly to keep saying the same things over and over and over and over and oh, your still reading? Well, I think you get my point.
I will say that I think I have to agree with MrHassenpheffer's last two posts in the overall though. But who am I to judge, I haven't even finshed high school yet (ughhh!). -
Quote:still cant wrap my head around the whole "thank everyone who complained" when its actually "someone that saw an opportunity to make a quick buck"I think the original plan was gonna be to give the wolf tail for free but so many people complained there was no furry bits in the mutant pack...they added it. so you can thank everyone who complained for making you pay
Another not so clever way to scold people for vocalizing their dissatisfaction.
not a very savvy business move either.
Why would you try to do that to people?
the devs do read the forums. I am also seeing what looks like their alt accts posting as well.
That's fine and I encourage more of it. Its a good way to directly challenge the complainers and snuff rumors without risking their jobs. I totally support that and if I were them I would do the same thing.
The competition also reads these forums.
Know what they see?
Mistakes to learn from when designing THEIR product(s).
Make a product that's above and beyond what is out there and people will change their tune. -
5-15 people out of over 100K saying they won't buy another booster pack because they didn't like /this/ one..doesn't really mean all that much.
- Are you sure there is that many people still playing this game? also: It means more than it seems. Imagine the unhappy people that are active in the forums, you can see/debate with them, but what about those that don't use the forums? Might want to get a good solid census before saying "it doesn't mean all that much" An old business practice was instilled in me: for every 1 customer that complains you have 60 that share that grief that aren't speaking up.<most people don't like confrontation, so they quietly pack their bags...>
why is it.. that no matter what the devs put in the game, its never good enough?
- Paying customers want a finished quality product. Simple.
Complaining about little things like the neck and tail joints? Really?
- Really. Don't sell an incomplete product or you wont be taken seriously by your customers, the websites that are supposed to advertise, the stores that are supposed to advertise and the competition. Word gets around quick. Bad word gets around quicker.
Who the hell has their camera zoomed in that much enough to notice something like that?
- the same people that pay for the high end systems and video cards required to run this game. After forking out all that money do you think that they wouldn't?
Looks to me like people just like to complain and nic-pick about whatever they can.
-especially when they pay for it. Its their right to do so as the people complaining are paying customers. By track record its been happening every time something comes out that is incomplete.
I'm done venting and rambling..sorry.
- don't apologize. It's good to rant. + rep to you. -
Quote:Agreed.Ok bought the pack, only for the temp power and the fox tail. em growl is nice.
But, must say worse PAID add-on so far.
------
If you are going to do weapons do more than swords. Hell its a mutant pack and no new claws?
No new beast or mutant type heads, bah!
No new skin tones.
Boots/gloves look like well boots and gloves not a seemless from main body.
Organic face should of been an overlay to put on any face.
Rikti monkey? really? if you're going this route with buffs why not give inseperations a 5% chance to backfire as well. Surprised you dont recon the Valkarie mission TP to give a chance to send you to wrong zone.
Even in the tell fortune "fool" at least gives you a run bonus.
Pack seemed rushed and just a money grab to finance GR production.
edit: Unlock Your Ultimate Potential!
Man... last time I did THAT the power-set I was using attracted the Nerf bat!
NO THANK YOU VERY MUCH. -
Quote:Uhm. The seams at the neck and tailbone were pointed out during Beta. I'm kinda disappointed to see that it actually made it out the door looking like this. I'm gonna buy the pack anyway and just hide that ugly under some hair and a belt but dang fellas.
Also, can anyone confirm whether the bonus wolf tail made it in?
Aslo reported in beta: fiery aura toggles interfere with the dimensional shift costume change emote.
I'm disappointed that things like this are still slipping through the cracks, And quite frankly I find it difficult to take this company seriously because of simple things like this.
it says "we have no quality control"
it also says "we ignore beta testers"
and seeing the gaps <yuk> between the head/neck and tail/waist is just... omg... I WAS going to buy it... -
Quote:Are the toggles with fiery aura still interfering with the dimensional shift CC emote?Getting it for free would be cool but it's only $10 bucks
also it will be out Thursday for all so there is really no need for anyone to stress over it... is there?
They are?
That's odd... I could have sworn I reported it on test and the forums...
ya know... -
I was out earlier today before the heat started melting the pavement...
I was close to the Game Stop in Shreveport, so I thought it would be a good time to pop in and see if anything was different this time.
There was.
There were two very nice and vocal gentlemen eager to sell me something.
Without asking, I was almost "aggressively" advertised products for world of warcraft, Champions online, DCUO, and several consoles. I was urged to pre-purchase all upcoming expansions for ALL platforms AND games
-HOWEVER-
Nobody volunteered ANYTHING for CoX.
I had to interrupt the salesmen in order to PRY information regarding Going Rouge.
The only thing that they weren't pretending didn't exist as far as CoX is concerned is that yes, you can actually pre-order it from Game Stop. That's IT.
no release date, no info on content, no enthusiasm whatsoever.
From the Game Stops I have been visiting, <Shreveport and Bossier> They simply don't seem to care about CoX.
There is no advertising going on here and that breaks my heart.
It would be wise to get the ball rolling on some meaningful dedicated advertising.
Btw- I mean that. -
Quote:This to the 234th power. They stealth edited out July some time ago to now say "summer". My guess is in the last 1-2 weeks of summer, so September xx (as in double digits).
While technically still summer, it is a pet peeve of mine because it is soooooooo much better from a company standpoint to build good will and leverage marketing to say "fall" and then launch it a bit early. They did the exact same thing with i17. It makes you look like a hero instead of a drag-a**. Which given the frequency and extent of updates we've been getting they could use all the good will they can muster.
I know I'm betting the farm on GR for my account because we've been told it is going to be so great and innovative and we just need to keep holding in there while things fester elsewhere in the game. I'm hopeful they deliver because I want to maintain an interest in this game and for it to do well.
A-lot of people think and feel this way. Count me in. -
It seems the Dimensional shift is still broken with firey aura toggles on. Not sure if other toggles from other powersets interfere. <sent a bug report>
Showoff needs to be a bit slower.
Other than that everything looks fan-damn-tastic! -
Quote:Hello,
As you’re aware, we announced a Going Rogue Developer Q&A today where you can submit your questions on Formspring. A new twist we’re introducing this time is that we will be awarding up to three submitters a Razer Naga mouse. Unfortunately, as some of you have already noticed, Formspring’s word limitation does not allow you to submit your questions and all of the necessary information we require of you. We are currently working on another solution. In the meantime, we have disabled the CoH Formspring page.
We are planning to have a more functional method in place to allow you to submit your questions and enter the contest soon. We will be able to update you on Monday what that method will be. Until then, what I would ask is that you hold onto your questions for now. The Dev Q+A will still take place, and we will still be giving away prizes.
Thank you for your time and understanding!

Quote:=!+.+!=I have a feeling that the "sonic fence" is just another way of justifying the engine mechanics. You will most likely still have to "zone" between areas.... just a guess
Am I the only one who isn't really seeing much of anything new here?
(as in, nothing we haven't really been told already) -
Quote:yeah don't do this to paying customers.
Second look, this looks alright... but not perfect, however.
This is not acceptable from a professional. There isn't even an attempt to make the head flow with the rest of the body. This should be fixed before release! See the back? The head looks like it should continue onto the back with the plating, this is eve more clear with the side view. However it just cuts off. I could understand if you made it tapper off at the scheme, but to not have it tapper off and not even connect with the matching body, that is some poor work if it is the final. If this is not fixed for the final I will seriously consider not buying this pack.
