    Rest ink peace Paul.
  2. I loved BSG - watched it religiously... never could get into Caprica though.

Nevermind, theres a new BSG tv series on the way - Its a prequel of sorts and will be concentrating on the rise of the colonies and Adama as a young Viper pilot.

So lots more 'pew-pew-pew' on the way all you frakkin toasters.
  3. You like ponies, you are posting on a forum devoted to superheroes...

You're aware of these collectables right?

Aww maaan... even Japanese toddlers do cosplay better !.
  5. Avoid internet plot rumours you see originating from the Far East - I'm not sure they understand Batman.

So close to a Blade Runner future. First comes the singing, then...Giggty

    That or the Robot Apocalypse.
R..i..g..h..t..... - So sometime before indistinguishable pleasurebots™ a'la the movie 'AI' then.

Besides, you could tell which one of them was a robo.... err, i mean 'synthetic person' - because she had forgot her trousers and was moving in a constipated manner.
I thought the background dancing bots were bloody good though !, amazing what they can do nowadays.
  7. Well, franchises like The Mummy trilogy prove you can do 1920s-1940s pulpy matinee' stuff that is along the lines of Indiana Jones - does it really have to be a reboot of Indiana Jones?, let a classic character rest in peace Hollywood !.

Have a crack at Alan Quartermain (its been what... 20-30 years, and no i'm not counting the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) or (heaven forbid) come up with another character to fit the genre.

*Wanders off mumbling how lazy Hollywood is*

I think a certain Mr Cage must of signed a certain contract in blood to get handed this again !, Ghost Rider; Spirit of vengeance huh ! (due 2012) - I mean.. Its not even a proper reboot-happy Marvel Enterpri$e$ venture is it with the same lead ?.

Ghost Rider (and its reboot) might of been / could be interesting had it gone really dark and certificate 15 (or higher), possibly with a tone not unlike Constantine, but lets face it, probably not going to happen with Di$ney in the saddle.

Just when Nick claws back credibility points for Big Daddy in KickAss, he goes backwards to redux this !. >.<
He can actually do darker material like in 8mm, if only he wasn't trying so hard to be a superhero on the silver screen all the time. I mean... he was trying like hell to be Superman when the project was in developmental hell under Tim Burton, and even named his own son Kal-El !. (wth !, thats dedication !).

Unless the cut in budget inspires a great focused screenplay with genuine menace and (personally for me) has a distinct lack of satanic bouffant hairstyle (Jeez, Fonda was ridiculous in that) - I'll be giving this reboot a miss.
  9. Key to guesstimating who Nolan's choice of villain will be, is to understand his 'real-world grounding' and reality of characters in his Batman trilogy.

Hence killer croc is not going to be a 9ft mutant croc man, .... but he could be a very tall (and built like a brick out-house) psychopath with a genetic mutation of scaley skin who files his teeth to points. There are also moving some production to New Orleans which has prompted some to indicate Killer Croc.

Wouldn't mind a Catwoman reboot if she is sufficiently S&M and vicious.

I honestly don't know this time around. I guessed right with The Lizard for the Spidey reboot, but Nolan never fails to surprise me with choices i never see coming or ones that i wouldn't of thought would work - but then turn out to be inspired choices & castings.

This is going to be both Nolan's and Bale's last outing for Batman, but my wish for the Batman would be a big budget dark and gritty Dark Knight Year 1 or Arkham City TV series with cliffhangers.
I'd tune in, Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel (only not camp).

I don't want to see the Batman flogged to death on the silver screen the way the Star Trek franchise was.

But that youthful viewpoint has been explored already in 'The young adventures of Indiana Jones', it would of been kinda repetitive imho.

er, i mean. they were pretty good.
Considering how much i hate Brendan Fraser's acting in those movies, I did actually enjoy a fair bit of The Mummy trilogy !.
Even in the third movie 'TOTDE' when the gorgeous and talented Rachel Weitz didn't reprise her role, she was replaced by Maria Bello who was pretty good and seemlessly portrayed Evy with the same spirit of character.

Oh, and that beautifully sung song by the American-born Chinese rock star Helen Feng from her band Pet Conspiracy and Ziyo (who sings dressed up up as the nightclub singer near the finale).
  11. I thoroughly recommend Futurehorizons.net.

Yes you too can master; Alternate energy, lasers, psionic technology, jetpacks, bionic exo-skeletons and time travel (to name but a few).

All with handy bluprints and building instructions for modest fee !.

All of my EU family will tell you i'm perfectly sane and through futurehorizons.net, I am now on the mk II version of my Flying-Universal-Battle-Armaments & Reconnaisance suit.
I'm having a little trouble with the port-side oscillator valve on the boot intakes and wiped out my greenhouse last weekend, apart from that everythings going great !. \o/

    Futurehorizons.net - a must for any cape.
  12. For a moment there I thought the film 'Renaissance' fitted the description. Its not entirely pov though but had some groundbreaking animation style.
  13. I'm hoping the Necronomicon clamps down on their fingers or takes off on barely visible fishing wire across the congregation's heads, (at least thats how i'd plan it).

....oh, and lol@ this thread (having read the original before edit).
    I thoroughly enjoy telepathic threads.
  15. I agree, fanboy concern can get a bit carried away sometimes.
I myself have been wrong so many times about concept or production art and then when the movie came out it looked perfectly fine in context with the rest of the movie.

Star Trek XI is one of my favourite films at the mo. I can't believe there was so much uproar about hotrodding those warp nacelles - they look fine to me in the film.
  16. As classic as it is, the 50's lantern-style does not and would not make sense in an alien setting. The OP picture did disappoint intially but then I analysed why, and it was purely fanboy classic'ism and sticking with what i knew worked.

I think thats just a bad low-res picture of it, and all the green glow around the rim is probably just light-effects, glows and reflections in flux.
Looking at the other picture and the huge lantern prop behind Ryan on stage, i realised it was not the modernist shape of the lantern which caused my initial concern - but the apparent texture of it in the first picture which makes it look more bio-organic than it probably is.
The fanboy backlash is because bio-organic is cliche' for a sci-fi style, has been for a while after all the aliens & species knock-off movies.

Trouble is there are no actors in the 35 yr+ age bracket that could touch the role, it absolutely indellibly Harrison's in everything the characters about, the humour, the smirk, vocally, everything. You might get someone who looks like they could play the character, but really it would just feel like an Alan Quartermain.

There is a gap in the market and a place for these adventure matinee's as Lucas/Spielberg first imaginned thirty years ago - but if a Star Trek XI style reimagining were ever to happen I would rather it be after a long long absence of the character from the silver screen.
Maybe by then there would be an actor aged 35+ on the market who could carry the role.
  18. Nope, Shia's overrated as an actor and he certainly doesn't have the charisma to pry the mantle of Indiana Jones away from Harrison ford.

That said KOTCS was pushing it for Harrison as far as an action figure, If Spielberg wants to do one more they'd better hurry.

That moment at the end in KOTCS where Indys hat blows in the wind and falls at Shias feet was a horrible moment for me as a fan of the original, i thought for a second they were genuinely going to endorse him & springboard him into the role. Yuk.

Raiders of the Lost Ark was (and is) the only real raiders film for me personally. The sequel (even by the actors admission) was awful, the third.... passable.
  19. You think Andrew's too fugly to be Peter Parker?, can't be much worse than Tobey's 'strong positive focus on what i want' face (whilst running in slow-mo).

Really?, ... Marvels been accused of being short on lots of things - patience, fairness, foresight, but moneys certainly not one of them.
Besides, all that CGI work, all those models and animation code still exists for them to make use of in a TV series.

    Mark Ruffalo?

I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft is looking into a next gen system, one that can handle 1080P output.
1080P ouput ? - Like the re-vamped and quieter xbox ?, like the old model come to think of it, does 1080P just fine. There is no new visual benchmark, i forsee Xbox and PS3 owner not needing to change their hardware for a longtime yet. Of course the manufacturers will try to convince us otherwise - but technically there is no reason to for the vast majority of the system's specs.
  22. II was saying in the WW thread its about time they brought The Incredible Hulk and some of the other properties back to TV, especially the ones that are being flogged to death and / or rebooted constantly theatrically.

Marvel revives the art of the superhero tv show cliffhanger, puts enough money into these projects to make them essentially extensions of their cinema ncarnations and i don't see why this wouldn't be a winner. This new ultimate highschool Spidey should be a big budget 1 hour TV show with cliffhangers showcasing all of Spidey's gallery of foes - that would be far better than rebooting the character at the cinema all the time.

    GL news

Yeah, i read news that had Warner Bros Animation citing 'The Incredibles' as animation inspiration.
