  1. Is there a timetable in place for all this ?, I mean when can we can expect to see these changes implemented in-game ?.
  2. You know what?, in retrospect I'm actually glad Nick Cage is Ghost Rider. Things could of been worse.

    Sooo much worse.
I'm glad this was shortlived. Stick to what you know Burton.. stick to what you know.

Oh i perfectly understand, its not perfect, far from it, its probably really hard to do technically.
Its just that in Tron legacy it looks.... bad. Its probably emphasised because the effect is surrounded by so much that looks seemless and really good.

    As a transcript it goes;
    ...............................

"My names Dan I'm 23, I'm into crazy writing and PCs".

"I just have this thing, I can't just walk on by and... (*sharp intake of breath) - it burns into my skull !".
    (*nervous laughter).

(Dan is seen walking down the street with a marker in his hand. Stopping in front of a heavily graffittied shuttered-blind garage door, he stands in an open stance eagerly twirling his marker)
"I can't stop correcting spelling or grammatical errors".

(Dan pulls off the marker pen lid and twirls the pen at head height in the style of a gunslinger)
    "Graffitti !, (leaning on and reading the wall thoughtfully he reads and says );
'emily loves seannas sex' - "Umm,... which is fine, but someone else has added, well, I don't know what he's put but.."

(contemplates graffitti thoughtfully and with a look of satisfaction starts to correct the graffitti)
"I think we need an apostrophe here !."

(Camera cuts to him in-front of a monitor and then squatting outside a cafe' correcting their chalkboard menu)
"Books, magazines, adverts !" he recounts...

(Camera cuts to him holding a flyer and pointing out the typo)
    "General knowlage... quiz... you know?"
    (exasperated laughter)

    Camera cuts to him correcting what looks like a printed tv guide with a marker, you see him explaining;
"Its like a blemish on the face of an angel.. or something !",

(Camera cuts to him walking down the street marker in-hand)
"I can spot a typo from fifty feet !, If typos were terrorists - I'd be Jack Bauer !"

(Walking past a wall of fly-posted gig posters out comes the marker again)
"There is always going to be something spelt wrong !"
(He sets about correcting the multitude of errors)

"I've always got some kind of red pen on me !"
(Camera cuts to his finished crossing out of the apostrophe on the graffitti 'Trolley's Rule')

    "I can't... ignore them !"
(he shakes his head laughing nervously).

"I remember when i was a little kid, in a leisure centre, there was a sign on a wall which said; 'The management cannot except, instead of accept... responsibility for lost or stolen property".

"It just kinda like opened my eyes to a world of human error and i've never been able to close them since !"
    (shakes his head in disbelief)

(Camera cuts to him correcting another magazine at his desk before the admittion)
"I could never even consider dating a girl that couldn't spell !"

Camera cuts to him noting errors on the web)
"Capital, capital, capital, HYPHEN ! where there should be a dash !"

"I think my hobby is being right !" (smug grin), "..and i think i like that - thats a good hobby !"
    (nervous laughter)

    .................................................. ..............

The programme then goes on to state that 24% of us would correct graffitti - but we cannot be bothered to carry the paint.

    - Good grief !, and you thought you were bad !, poor guy !.
  5. Guilty!, re: Bloomin' - I guess it puts its more indicative of how its said (or used to be said) in a historical or cultural sense. By shortening it you are gramatically alluding to the way it is (or was) pronounced back in the day.
  6. Michael Sheens in it !, with a glowy cane and looking rather Bowie-esque. Interesting !.

The film sfx and colour pallette look incredible and could just persuade me to check this out in Imax 3d, but I still think the cgi work for the young Jeff Bridges looks sub-par.
Young-ification™ can be done fairly convincingly, I think X3 did it a little more seemlessly.

Its appropriate that this Tron looks as cutting-edge today as the original did back in the early 80's.
  7. This is the link to BBC's iplayer and the 'Freak like me' programme I mentioned.
Dan (23) the language pedant is at 14:25 onwards.

BBC iplayer programmes are free to watch / download for a month after their 1st terrestrial broadcasting. May or may not work for some of you in the U.S though.

As far as Nathan Fillion goes, i think you may be projecting a bit.

Good grief !, (I take it it was my post that pre-empted the reminder?) - and I didn't even mention the competitive product by name, but i did mention the company names of another word similar to 'Amazing' and the two capital-letters that usually follow 'Washington'.

Even that is not allowed?, thats ridiculous in my personal opinion.
Its your forums guys and i'll happily abide by their rules, but just so you know, that is taking things to such an embarrassing & ridiculous extent, that by not even remotely alluding to the competition analogy of an 800lb gorilla in the corner - It makes it all the more painfully obvious.

I know from your company perspective its to prevent the worst of the threadjacks, but to the rest of us Its pretty condesending to say we cannot sensibly discuss what does effect a game we've helped support over the last 5 years, in the marketplace we're all too familiar with.
You do realise you are not actually restricting any competitive information to subscribers by such draconian reinforcement of the recent forum rules revision, but you will drive people away from the forums.

As you are no doubt aware we discuss CoX on their (other) forums, and whilst not actively encouraged, and sometimes even reminded or trimmed, Devs even drop in and chat, it makes for a nice atmosphere.
It is nowhere as paranoid as these forums are becoming.

Never thought I'd see the day, what a shame.

Oh don't worry, they will. Probably not so much in that it would be in a director's cut, but this is exactly the kind of material that'll be pushing the marketing of the blu-ray theatrical release version, blu-ray widescreen version, blu-ray ultimate edition, blu-ra......*voice carrries on and trails off into the distance.

They've got some work to do on that print though, yuuck.. its filthy dirty and needs a darn good dust.

So many great toons on Union with signature looks. I seem to remember i have an A3 photo-print sheet with a whole library of characters going back to 2005/6 - all digitally collaged together on it, and their names written in fineliner near them.

Both true.. and yet, not if taken in-game.

You see we are creatures of habit and while i agree with you where you do have the time to express yourself eloquently - you should, I present this basic in-game example.

*large high level mob ambush, takes everyone by surprise and gives everyone no recourse but to retreat rather hastefully*

Everyone is surprised, delighted, excited & shocked by this, and attempts to fall back as a team whilst fending off the mob.

Everyone has taken damage badly, a team-wipe could be on the cards if everyone does not work as a team. Being the expressive social animals we are someone decides to give a quick team-chat reaction to this turn of events as you are fighting and retreating.

Chat a: "WTH !!!, lol ! - how many ?! - fall bk !" ---> (Is able to fight, heal a little and retreat safely)

Chat b: "Goodness gracious me!, that rather surprised me!, *laughs out loud*, how many are in this ambush ? - Quick !, fall back to the predetermined location we discus... Oh, bother, nevermind I'm dead".
    I'll be right back.
---> (Is dead, didn't add that much more re: the team's understanding of his chat content and emotional expression, and more importantly really didn't help his team much in the defensive fall-back.

Everyone's done it, given directions or funny quips in the heat of battle, and if the team can understand abbreviations then personally i have no problem with the txt-generation's abbreivations if it is a) understood by the team in general and b) fitting in situational context .

I guess textual 'form follows function' and in-game where time (or lack of it reaction-wise) is part of that function then its not really a surprise that abbrievation is widespread.
I don't suppose the most common fighting fantasy MMO has many Olde English RP guilds that are particularly talkative in the heat of combat.
But then yes, extreme examples of social groups understanding one anothers abbreivations will then go on to speak like that in local chat or broadcast - sometimes at speed etc.
But hey, "whatcha gunna do ?" - its an MMO ! - to each their own i suppose.

You know, this is not some wet-behind-the-ears fledgling studio handling the franchise.
Paragon studios has been doing this and gauging how we respond to issues for a fair few years now. I don't think that a move to a F2P model would impact their quality control on issue updates, I really don't.
I think internally they are a tad more disciplined than that after all these years

Personally, wouldn't mind F2P model. it would probably mean I dropped into Paragon a bit more frequently than i currently do, and would most likely browse the.... (what the hell do i call it?, the P-store ?).. the 'shop' more often too. I think on my return after a little break I gorged on a fair few super-boosters that I thought would be of use.

You've also got to think ahead at the market a year or two from now when there will be more fish in the Superhuman MMO market. Theres going to be four superhero MMOs, at what point if any should a veteran MMO change to the F2P model ? - I couldn't tell you, can you?. I don't have the quarterlies comparison from all parties to hand.

If it does happen history has shown it will be NCsoft-directed so there is no use pertitioning Paragon Studios about it.
The future of CoX is going to be decided on a myriad combination of things from the competition's superheroic manouveurs to (on an internal portfolio note) NCSoft's western gaming investment's uptake and profit.
  21. Nolan could break the Bat's back to say; "this is the end of the trilogy for me and Bale".
I don't think its necessary or that he will, just that he could to make a statement.
Both Nolan and Bale are leaving after this, as everyone involved will.
This is not an ongoing franchise, this is a self-contained trilogy, it was always envisioned as thus.

I'm actually grateful for this. I think its going to be (hopefully) the purest quality trilogy made where either of the films are as good as one another or actually rises in accolade as the trilogy progresses.
  22. I saw a funny programme on BBC3 (i think) the other night. It was called 'Freak like me'.

In this programme was featured a young man who could not resist the compulsion to correct all the graffitti he came across in his daily urban life, and thus carried a black all-surface marker on himself at all times. You had to laugh really, he certainly found it quite funny.

I've just corrected someone on the thread 'Empathy options' on the defender forum.
They made a grammatical error, no big deal, corrected them in the nicest possible way.

Besides I do believe that language should and does evolve in the context of modern communication.
But yes, standards should be (on the whole) maintained in my opinion less it get completely out of control.

    Empathy Opinions

    Hello Hube02 ,

No you are wise to take Absorb Pain, used effectively and with forethought (and when aware of your surroundings) it can be absolutely invaluable.

You do not need to put Heal Aura on auto though as it restricts your capability & reaction-speed to fire off other powers should the situation arise
Every split second counts reaction-wise and any power on auto is potentially a disadvantage.

Ps: you spelt 'loser' wrong, (not that anyone is in-game anyway).
