I'm behind... but I'm not giving up. I can write 11k in a weekend....
-
That's cheered me up, my 151 words at lunchtime looks like a more reasonable start now!

I'd like to actually finish my 2006 entry first...
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sort of considering doing that now as a warm-up... -
Since I didn't succeed in hitting the 50,000 words last November... I'm trying again.
My story, as "planned" at the moment, isn't set in the CoH world, but it will feature CoH. Alongside Bill Hicks quotes, weird weather, and talking animals. (I'm using dares instead of planning the plot- it could get very silly!)
So.. Is anybody else trying it this year?
Go on.. you know you want to!

30 month vet badge is called "commited", with the flavor text "After 30 months, you should be commited". According to my Webster's dictionary of the english language thats not the correct wording..
[/ QUOTE ]
To say nothing of the fact that it's a peculiar turn of phrase to a British English speaker.

Are they calling us insane if we play that long?
("Should be committed" to me sounds like "should be committed to an asylum"!) -
Just saw an NPC in the King's Row station complaining that "Criminals these days are so unnessicarily rough!" (then there was something about "I would have given it to him if he said please") - should be "unnecessarily".
I probably only /bug half the typos and mis-spellings I see. Given the apparent literacy levels of the English nation these days, I am past despair most of the time... -

3 Times Revert Policy: Again, I don't see there would be actual need for this, and I see the negative aspect of pages getting locked down unnecessarily rather than after someone maliciously changing pages. As in: I write my page, hit save. Read my page, notice typo. Edit and save. Read on, notice second typo, edit and save. Read on, notice yet another typo, edit and save, and oops have my page locked down.
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought "revert" was just when a change is made and then somebody undoes it (on Wikipedia there's an undo button on the history page; I don't see it on the Handbook though) so it goes back to the previous version. Your scenario would then be three edits, not three reverts? (I may be entirely wrong on that).
I personally can see the potential in there being certain pages where two or more people may have differing views and enter into an edit war instead of talking it over (probably over something utterly minor too, that's human nature!) so the ability to have a page auto-protected (and presumably flagged?) so that a moderator can step in seems sensible to me. -

That's the way templates work unfortunately. But that doesn't mean you HAVE to fill all the blanks. Either put N/A or leave it blank and it'll say Classified or some such.

In which case, could we have more than one option for the bio box? If somebody wants to keep a lot of info confidential it looks a bit messy, IMO. Could somebody set up a "basic character box" with, for example, the same amount of info that's on the Virtue version? -
I agree with removing the sexuality tag. I removed it from Morgana and changed it to Confidential in the Character Box because I personally don't want my characters categorised in that way.

Hello, I would like to request some please! Since I read this thread yesterday I've been struggling to pick just three of my many many alts and cast them, but I have eventually settled on:
Scarlett Johansson as Ibuprofen (Science Defender)
Dame Judi Dench as The Mother In Law, a Natural Brute.
Finally, Emma Watson from the Harry Potter films as Millhaven Lottie, a Mutation Brute, but I've had to adjust a picture to get her looking more right (couldn't figure out how to lighten the eyebrows though)
I would like them as separate images and a gif please, if that's not too much trouble. -
Well it looks sort of Frank Miller-esque but from that one quite abstract looking picture it's really, really hard to judge anything. Perhaps if you did a full page, you could get some more constructive criticism?

I'm pining for the Fairy Wings for this little villain (she's only level eight, and I haven't got enough infamy on any character yet
), so I thought I'd try and draw her with them.. even though I have yet to actually see them in-game and could only find one screenshot of them (which was at a different angle)... Anyway, here she is:
The Green Faery
This is also my first attempt at colouring with manga-type artist pens, which is why it's so rough! -
I've been away from CoH for a little bit, playing another game, but when I decided to come back (well, at least to split my playing time between the two more evenly) I found I was actually thinking about my character's stories more. I think maybe I'd got a little jaded before...
Anyway, as I've also been drawing a lot more recently, this sort of led to me having the idea of drawing comics for at least one of these stories. I may be too haphazard to actually complete any, so if I leave it until I finish one you'll probably never see anything of it.. so I thought I'd post a page as an incentive to myself.
Enough rambling, here's the link. This page shows the ritual that ended up giving a slightly odd pagan Northern lass her magic powers...
Morgana Fiolett's ritual -
Feuer Frau stopped in front of Talos Island station and asked the newsie for a paper. He smiled, recognising her, scribbled quickly in a notebook, and spread the paper out on the floor a few feet behind him.
She was standing over it, trying to read the headlines before it burnt away, when a young heroine walked up to her.
"Excuse me ma'am?"
Feuer sighed at the interruption, and then swore softly in German as her breath blew the last page away in a drift of ashes.
She straightened up, and looked down.
"Ja?"
The young woman smiled nervously as sweat broke out on her forehead. She started talking very quickly.
"Speaking as one hero to another, I know you value the contribution of our non-powered friends, the police officers, doctors and nurses, and contacts, who assist us daily in our fight against injustice. I have a petition here, it's a campaign to recognise those people instead of erecting statues... of.. heroes..."
She slowed down as she reached the end of her rehearsed preamble, suddenly registering the glazed expression on the giant redhead's face. They stood looking at each other for a moment.
"Sprechen sie Deutsch?" asked Feuer Frau.
----------------
Morgana Fiolett was walking, for a change, through Galaxy City when she was stopped by a reporter.
"Hey, excuse me, you're a hero ain't you?"
She smiled, and nodded. "Aye, I'm a registered hero. Can I help you?"
The reporter grinned and handed her a piece of paper, "I assume you've heard about the "Heroes for People" campaign? Well, this is an open letter written by Vigilante Storm in response to the whole furore. I'm just looking for responses from some heroes for mah article, could ya oblige?"
Morgana nodded slowly as she read the letter.
"Well, it's interesting. But they've not really thought about this one either, 'ave they? I mean, "life size statues to fallen heroes of ALL kinds", it says here. How many statues? I mean, how many people, super-powered or otherwise, died in the Rikti War? How many people die every day? Every week? We can't have a statue for everybody, that'd be daft. So as soon as somebody gets turned down for a statue, there's going to be another petition, and it'll all go on and on and on. So, we have statues to the best known, the symbols, like Atlas. Thinking about it, he's got the whole world in his statue, so everybody's up there already! Or like the sculpture in Faultline, that's dedicated to everybody who died there. And that's the most recent statue in the city isn't it? Not a giant hero, just a simple sculpture.
"You know what I'd rather see? Something useful. There's enough wasted land in this world already, why don't we just concentrate on making this city, this entire city, a monument to all the brave people who make it work. By making it work. That's the monument, in and of itself."
She was about to go on when a beep from her belt interrupted her. She checked her phone quickly.
"Sorry, got to go. Good luck with the article."
She smiled and waved as she flew away.
((Edited- just added a wee bit)) -
Well, beware that this is a pretty quick sketch (if you like it, I'll do a more careful version and perhaps even try colouring and shading it!) but anyway here is a Chibi version of Catz. I'm quite happy with it, except for the legs.

Just one thing, its more common to say caucasian rather than white.

Possibly, but if the OP was using the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Offender Information files I linked to in that other thread as a basis, they all say White/Black/Hispanic -
I Googled for "criminal records" and found the Texas Department of Criminal Justice website, this includes the basic prison files of a whole load of executed offenders (pretty morbid reading, but it's something authentic you could work from)

Just because I had A Perfect Circle on my mp3 player earlier:
Blasters- "Say hello to the rug's topography"
Defenders- "Act just like a nurse to all the other ATS" -

Once you get used to the tablet... you'll never go back to the mouse.
Also, what soft are you using?

I am finding it much easier for artwork! I'm using Paint Shop Pro 7, but I'm very much at the amateur "Ooh what does this do? Wow I can make it look glowy!" stage... -

Already there is a better sense of proportion in this one! Progress in motion, right there!
May I ask if you clean the pic up before or after the scanning? It seems you clean it up with the mouse, which is hard to do. Therefore the lines seem to be a tad inconsistant and a little wobbly.
If I'm correct, I'd suggest cleaning the drawing up before you scan it with a black thin pen. Then erasing the pencil under it.
If I'm wrong, pay no attention to my dribble ^^

I've got a little graphics tablet, and I'm also using these sketches to practice using that, so I know it is still wobbly. It's all down to practice, I guess!
For comparison, the sketch for the Chibi Kiku is here -

I look forward to your SECOND chibi, Morgana,

OK then, how's this? (Still not brave enough to try shading, sorry Swissy!
Chibi Kiku -
Thank you for the comments! I did think the proportions were a bit out- I was drawing on the back of a page from my desk calendar and sort of ran out of room for the legs... and I do want to try shading soon but I wasn't quite feeling brave enough!

I have been trying to teach myself to draw Manga style for a while now.. well, it was quiet at work so I did a little Chibi doodle of one of my characters, Junsui. When I got home, I scanned it, cleaned it up, and quickly coloured it, and now I present it here for some creative criticism- I know there's some good Manga artists on here!
