Kawaii!
I like the socks and the hands especially, since they convey depth.
2 things spring to mind at first glance:
-Proportions
-Shading
For the proportions I allowed myself a little draw-over. Hope you don't mind. Construction lines and the use of basic shapes always help keep stable proportions.
And for the shading, find a light source anywhere around your chibi and imagine how the light would "rest" on the character and where the shadows will emerge. That would just add a more profound touch of depth.

Thank you for the comments! I did think the proportions were a bit out- I was drawing on the back of a page from my desk calendar and sort of ran out of room for the legs... and I do want to try shading soon but I wasn't quite feeling brave enough!

I concur with Swissy. It's always a worry to see how your stuff is received. Let's just say your first chibi is about a million times better than mine ever was, XD
Since Swissy is much better than me at manga/anime style, listen to her. You have bold colour though, and that's a definite plus for me.

Already there is a better sense of proportion in this one! Progress in motion, right there!
May I ask if you clean the pic up before or after the scanning? It seems you clean it up with the mouse, which is hard to do. Therefore the lines seem to be a tad inconsistant and a little wobbly.
If I'm correct, I'd suggest cleaning the drawing up before you scan it with a black thin pen. Then erasing the pencil under it.
If I'm wrong, pay no attention to my dribble ^^

I've got a little graphics tablet, and I'm also using these sketches to practice using that, so I know it is still wobbly. It's all down to practice, I guess!

I disagree, I wuv my mouse, designed for art and gameage, though I do mean to try out my tablet again.
I would offer constuctive advice and critiscm but Swissy is doing such a great job and said pretyt much everything to be said

I am finding it much easier for artwork! I'm using Paint Shop Pro 7, but I'm very much at the amateur "Ooh what does this do? Wow I can make it look glowy!" stage...

Ill agree with you there. I tend to stick with pencil and paper because i get amused by the Adobe effects

I have been trying to teach myself to draw Manga style for a while now.. well, it was quiet at work so I did a little Chibi doodle of one of my characters, Junsui. When I got home, I scanned it, cleaned it up, and quickly coloured it, and now I present it here for some creative criticism- I know there's some good Manga artists on here!
