  1. Hrm..............so if I enter an AE mission @ lvl 23 designed to scale to that level, and the AV used does not scale to that level, then I could be facing a 30, 40, 50+ av?

And this is a good idea? I can see how scaling on these creatures could be abused, knowing how creative players can be, but I can also see this driving people (me in particular) all kinds of crazy when I've invested time in an arc and then am suddenly facing a vastly higher lvl AV than myself.

Bad enough that AE does not recognize my difficulty preference, now It can not recognize my lvl with no warning?

Are mission arcs that will be affected by this going to be marked in some way? Or de-activated

We made this change because combat scaling affects Archvillains/Hero class critters much more than other foes. This leads to strange numbers at the extreme low end, numbers that were never designed for or balanced against. Coupled with the rewards of defeating an AV, a fix was necessary.

I hope you all understand the reason why this was changed. Please feel free to let me know if anything isn't working as it should be or if anything is unclear!

I agree 100%. I am blue/green color blind and having to re-search ~20 times yesterday was aggravating, made worse by the fact that I got it right at least twice, but was to quick on the draw due to the 15 second timeout.
  3. Hrm........my first character ever created, also my first 50, and the toon with the most play time is Stone/Stone.

Granite has always been a toggle that I turned on and off.

    Interesting read though.

I would love get either my Fire/Eng tank or Sonic/Eng blaster in.

I can get screens and send them to you if you want them.

This change and the previous one is bad because it still allows for some teammates to grief your team should they choose to log off and not quit. I have had it to happen twice since the first change on a few tfs I have done. Once on Katie hannon and once Sara Moore TFs. We need a way to be able to kick people from the team that are not currently logged in. Secondly neither of these changes have done anything to address the reason why this softloading of tf/sfs happens in the first place. If the recipes that people can actually use were more readily accessable we would not be going thru this now in the first place. Either address the issue with the drop pools or you are doing all this for nothing and all it is doing is punishing the rest of the playerbase instead of farmers.

Understandable and thanks for the feedback. However, I would have to advise you to better get to know the people you are grouping with. Simply put, if someone has a reputation for such, don't engage in a task / strike force or trial with them. You would be well advised to only take your most trusted allies with you to tackle such challenging and dangerous missions!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not an ok answer. This is an MMO, and forming teams to do things is how you get to know new people.

"Just team with people you already know" is not acceptable from a dev or any member of the GM/Public relations staff.

    Epic fail ;(

I so wish that actually happened. Just so my Praetorian 'hero' could respond.

    Bidon: *hears message* ...Nope.
    Ein: But-
Bidon: Nope. I ain't getting paid for that.
Ein: Thanks of the world, Bidon. The world is back as it should be.
Bidon: This world sucks and you know it.
Ein: Well... Isn't life a form of payment?
Bidon: Only when you can die.
Ein: Point. Hey, maybe if you kill him you can take his time travel technology, make things the way you want it.
    Bidon: ...Deal. *runs*
Ein: There, Nemesis is doomed. ...And so is continuity. Damnit, not again. COME BACK HERE!

    Good times, good times...

Being serious though, I'm getting a bad feeling about this, int he pit of my stomach. Like this isn't going to work out as well as we hope.

As a rule nothing ever works out as well your would hope or fails as badly as you fear.

It's when it fails and were assuing success, or you succeed and assumed failure that it's usually spectacular.

... like I need a hole in the head.

Ever since dual blades was "announced" I've been racking my brain trying to think of heroes that would use a pair of knives to arrest criminals. I Haven't thought of one. Looking back on all those comic books that I collected as a kid, the only one I can remember using a blade of any kind was the Black Knight (Sorry Electra uses two Sais... they don't have blades).

The way I see it, there are more comic book heroes that use boomerangs, then those that use broad swords, katanas, battle axes, maces, and dual blades combined.

"But Tarmac, the people voted for dual blades!"

So what. The people voted for Nixon (twice). The people voted to kill Socrates. The people said O.J. was innocent. In other words, the people are morons.

Statesman, im calling you out. This power set has NOTHING to do with comic book heroes. Sure it's fine in WoW, EQ, and LotR, but those are sword and sorcery games, this is a super hero game. States, do the right thing, suck it up and make dual blades a CoV only power. Come up with a power for heroes that fits the bill and makes use feel like the good guys. Not some knife wielding, blood thirsty villain.

I suppose the kind of answer where they don't want the exact workings on the command out. If they say "It logs the last 10 lines of chat from the ignored target; if the 10 lines match [or are close enough] the target is autosilenced until we investigate", the target could send 9 different tells to himself between each spam, or something similar.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Stating the "exact" numbers on what it collects, if it collects anything at all, is entirely different than stating what the command does.

For instance, they could say it collects a history of chat data from the spammer for further investigation. Tell me how that would hinder anything? They could say it will forever ignore any character that person makes. How would that hinder the working of the command?

ANYTHING would be better than saying, "it does stuff!" Give me a break.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /ignores good judgement

Get a grip sparky. Only 3 reasons I can see for you to want this information so badly:

    1) You don't believe they are doing anything. Fine, stop playing

    2) You are a spammer that does not want to get caught. Fine, leave the game.

    3) You are Veruca Salt. Fine, leave the game and leave the world alone.

Please use this thread to discuss the below announcement:

Issue 10: Invasion, the tenth upcoming free expansion since the launch of City of Heroes® in April 2004, will introduce a host of new content and challenges. The Rikti invasion force returns with a vengeance, bent on destroying Earth!

Click here to read more about this coming Issue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    And, for those @ work:

The skies over Paragon City are filled with dark grey thunderheads. It is the same in the Rogue Isles, Europe, and across the globe. Small ships dart through the heavy weather … and there are so very many of them.

    The Rikti have returned.
    Rikti World Invasion

Issue 10 begins with a World Event that spans across numerous zones in both Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, as the Rikti return in devastating waves. They are armed with new, brutal weapons and seek to establish a beachhead on Earth, presumably to save their lost brethren and to finish what they started the first time … the destruction of Earth!
    Rikti War Zone (Levels 35 – 50)

The site of the crashed Rikti mother ship has become a hot War Zone. Pylons of unknown purpose have appeared around the mother ship, and Rikti presence is extremely heavy. In an attempt to contain the Rikti from breaking out of the area or launching their ship, the government has cordoned off the zone, allowing only select agents access. Government officials have turned the region over to Vanguard, and given them the authority to recruit forces from across the world. This zone is open to both Heroes and Villains, in their combined, desperate struggle to hold the front lines against the second Rikti Invasion.

    New Threats

Rikti Pylons are multi-purpose warning and attack devices that surround the crashed mother ship. It takes a concerted effort to take one of these pylons down, but once enough of these are destroyed, access to the ship may be granted. UXBs, “unexploded bombs” that arm, power up, and detonate if not stopped in time, provide a constant threat. Rikti destroyers zip through zones dropping troops, UXB’s, and Rikti Assault Suits.
    New Inventions

The Vanguard base contains a special Vanguard Workbench that will allow for special costume pieces (tied to Rikti War Zone recipes). Vanguard Support Machines (“Heavies”) can be requisitioned using Special Salvage (unique to the War Zone). These Heavies function as powerful pets.
    New Missions

The first missions in the Rikti War Zone are for characters level 35+. The characters meet a new contact, Levantera, who introduces them to the U.N. security force, Vanguard. They’ll also meet Borea, who sends them on several repeatable missions in the zone. From there, characters meet contact Serpent Drummer, Gaussian, and also talk to the Dark Watcher and learn one of the darkest secrets of Paragon City.

    Rikti Co-op Task Force

The Rikti Co-Op Task Force is available for both Heroes and Villains. It is for 6 to 8 players, level 45 – 50. The mission is given out by Lady Grey, leader of the Vanguard. Co-operative missions create a new layer of depth and story as heroes and villains work toward a common goal.

    Cryptic coolness

I would, without reservation, pay for another box @ up to $50 and pony up $5 more/month if you made this possible.

I'm not kidding, and I can't see any market surveys you have done on the matter, but I know of at least 20 other people that would be willing to do one or the other as well.
  14. I approve of this product and/or statement. As _Castle_ points out later it would allow for base abilities to be stronger and more useful. While still allowing larger teams to hit the SAME buffing caps they are now.
A win for the solo/casual player, no lose for the team players.
  15. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Santa Gloves with trenchcoats? In fact whats up with the extremely limited selection of gloves on trenchcoats.

Pretty sure that no screen shot is needed. But I will provide one upon request.

Oh and I heard a rumor... "Jay is sexy", I'm pretty sure that was it.

    <QR>

I honestly think the solution is quite simple:

    1. The devs need to commit to a deadline for all future tasks. Tell me when this fix or that fix will be implemented, and assure me that whatever needs to be done to achieve will be done. If you (the devs) can keep to a schedule like that, then faith in the dev team will be restored.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hah, not likely. Please try to keep this in the realm of possibility. If you could predict with absolute certainty software finish dates there would be no programmers, only people assembling simple parts of code on assembly lines.

Programmng is an art, not a factory.

Now, if you just think that communication on slippages could be stronger......that is true. But remember, every time they come to the forums and state there has been a slippage then there would be a huge chorus of demands to know why. And hurt feelings and angry customers when replies were not complete enough, or forthcoming at all.

While we may be customers, and have a certain degree of expectation on knowing what is going on, were not the owners of the company. Nor the overseers of the coders.

    AND WE SHOULD NOT BE.

Nothing would get done. You personally might well be able to handle this information flow and only rarely ask for a clarification or more informatin. But the crowd would produce dozens of requests a day (at least) and that would hurt production, or if it did not would hurt public relations. Neither is tenable, best not to go down that path at all.

    2. Make all decorative and non-functional aspects of a base cost inf, NOT prestige. Give each member of a SG/VG a "free" room of their own to decorate. This would use personal inf, NOT prestige.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Bravo, great idea.

As I have stated in other threads: "I approve of this product and or statement "

But seriously, I don't give a fuzzy rats butt what has to be put off. I want my own personal space in the game. It's the only thing that I see as a serious and total failure on the part of Cryptic to provide.

    [ QUOTE ]
    3. Give a big prestige bonus for each member of a SG/VG on a team, beyond the 1st; heck, make it a multiplier. If a bunch of missions are run w/ all SG/VG-mates, reward them for working together.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Meh, I see to many ways to game that to death. Change the groups so they can have unlimited membership. And give us oure personal space.

If memberships was unlimited I can see some great things happening, supergroups of thousands with huge bases that become fixtures in the game, or that affect the storyline. That would be cool.

Awesome notion. Great work, and this will make a killer addon to the rpg when it comes out.
