Quote:Well, the oversimplified explanation is it's a term that means 'it's creepy because it looks too real, but not real ENOUGH'. Kind of wrong-real?Off topic:
I read all the time about that uncanny valley reference I dont get because Im spanish and english not my first language and I never heard that before...
Would someone explain that, please?
Thanks!
Does that help? -

Quote:Actually, shouldn't it be Heracles? Hercules was a hearth god, I think.I'd like to see someone try to lay claim to a two to three-thousand year-old story and character that predates our civilization and its system of laws.
Hercules does not belong to Marvel, or DC, or Paramount, or Penguin Books, or Random House, or 20TH Century Fox, or any of the gazillion other comics, books, movies and TV shows that have adapted Hercules to their stories. But we, and they, are all welcome to use him in stories, because he belongs to Humanity. He is a campfire tale.
disclaimer: Just being a pedant. It's a very nice character. -
I was carefully reading the whole thread before I burst in with that, so thanks for giving an answer that didn't sound all know it ally. Who knew I had Feelings about Dorothy's slippers.

Thanks for the tipoff. I got some good screencaptures of examining the bones inside!

Quote:I love that reference guide! It's a great mental reference when designing (non-game) characters.Wrong rebuttal, Ten.
Here, let me try -
Well, I think a lot of blasters/buffers/masterminds/crowd controllers would make sense at the heavier set. I mean, they're not physical fighters, most of their work is keeping up with the rest of the group. My bubbles/psy defender is as chubby as I could make her. She's a thinker, not a puncher.

Quote:That's not how I ended up with more'n one account, but the same result as you. Hell, I just made three new ones last night to fill out some holes in my villain roster.I have found the perfect cure for alt-itis. I used to fill my servers with concept characters & near-useless tag-alongs to run with friends, until I realized my slots were getting dangerously full.
So - now I am able to keep lots of clear slots on every server, and it was surprisingly easy to do. I simply opened an additional account! This worked beautifully for quite some time, until I had to 'cure that one - and then another. I am sure I have it under control nowAnd a great side-benefit is, I can run well-balanced groups at most an level & even answer when I talk to myself!
I may be incurable. -

Huh, I didn't know you couldn't die in the new tutorial. That makes sense though, with the no hospitals.

No, not really. Part of why I enjoy City of Heroes so much is all the instances. For some reason wide open areas where stuff respawns makes me uncomfortable.
I keep trying out other games, but it's all outdoor outdoor and I'm all nooo noooo. -
Quote:Ha!Oh right, he is the avatar of Zeus, isn't he?
From now on I will no longer call anyone on Mary-Sue-ism for stating their character is States's illegitimate child
The Zeus thing is an endless fount of jokes. Like, say, whenever someone brings up Statesman's Furry Adventure. -
Not a bad idea. On the other hand, there's something fun about the indignity of lying on your face bemoaning things,

Was looking at the CoH twitter feed and noticed where the 'suggestive themes' were jutting out of. -
Quote:aaand bazam, I just figured out where I'm gonna put that thing. For their sake, I hope anyone who didn't instantly think "claws scrapper!" upon seeing that IO at least thought "claws brute!" instead.
Looking forward to the event in general, I had lots of fun with the Halloween one! -

Quote:Oh, you don't get a monopoly on the complaining.I am shocked, shocked, that an "I like thread turns into an I hate thread" post happened. This never happens. So when do we get to complain about people complaining, or does that come next?
EDIT: Oops, forgot to reply to the OP. Those arcs can be pretty fun! I really enjoyed the maps most, though. I really hope we get access to them in AE. -
Quote:Enchanted Forest Chronicles! *thumbs up*To be fair, you talk about withes and wizards, I think "HA! The wizard is screwed if anyone was doing the floors".
Soapy Lemon Water for the win.
That, and apparently brooms don't trigger draconian allergies, unlike wizards and/or their staves. Cause Fire-sneezes are killer on the epidermis. -
Quote:Now that's a Miss Mannersly reply on gaming etiquette. I approve.it is simple - if a player asks it makes sense to rate their powerset
if a player does not ask, one should not tell them it is bad
just like you should tell people if their costume is cool
and if asked you should tell them your honest opinion
but you should not just volunteer to someone that their costume sucks unasked
people like compliments
otherwise if they want your opinion they will ask
it is possible that volunteering that their powerset sucks will help them, but the chance is very small and the chance that you will annoy them is great
