Quote:On the second paragraph, agreed. The extra 2-3 minutes to get the acids guarantees that you get an additional astral merit with the possibility of another it you meet (usually incidentally) the requirements for the 'Synchronized' badge. That's why many of us consider it the best reward over time method of running it.
I apologize if I've come off as overly-harsh in my responses. Your original post came across as more critical than you may have intended. Tone is something that doesn't always come across well in print.
Since I only ever use astrals to convert to threads, I tend to get 4 threads from doing the outside, so recoup the astral there. I would have thought if you do it sLAM style, but spend the extra time up to say 4m40 killing stuff in the grenade area rather than grabbing the last grenade which you get as the timer is about to run out, you would also recoup much of that astral, with the added potential bonus of catalysts. -
Quote:I did it as the leader wanted and said nothing till afterwards. I felt I tried to start a discussion and got my head bitten off so couldn't get the answers I wanted at the time hence this thread. It also got my goat when the "nice and fast" messages started coming from the leader when all we'd done was spent 2/3-3/4 of the time for a more normal lambda (and 2-3 mins more than a sLAM would take) for 1/3 of the IXP/catalysts and an astral less than normal (although that wasn't so much the leader's fault, people (not me, I had grenades) used acids when she didn't intend that). If you want to run Lambda in the way you've determined is the 'optimal' way, they by all means lead one. Otherwise do it the way the organizer says. And if it's being run in a way that absolutely won't work (which is NOT the case you described) then offer your advice to the leader through tells, never in open league chat.

Quote:My point was mainly that I'm IRL a maths/stats/computing guy who has at times done a fair amount of optimisation work, and this just seemed to me the most inefficient possible way of doing a lambda in terms of time/reward. I was trying to find out why it was done that way, I couldn't see any set of goals for that team for which this was the optimal solution. What was your point with this thread? Cause it just looks like you are calling out someone (On the forums, instead of a tell).
Someone who has lead alot of trials on this server, someone who can make me join something as terrible as the MoM iTrial.
While trying to put something like that together, you always have a chance of rubbing someone the wrong way.
Apperantly you didnt like her leading style on Lambda, thats perfectly fine. Host your own ones, join other players when they are trying to form them. -
OK, I can see one big problem.
Say I have 100% recharge in the power, 45% from alpha, another 180 from hasten and global recharge (including a speed boost/AM etc if necessary).
If the proc is key to me, I may actually be better off unslotting my alpha. That shouldn't be the case. The 45% while a huge boost if I don't have a lot of global recharge, is actually only increasing my recharge from 280 to 310 after ED (11% ish) but I'm getting penalised as if it's increased it from 100 to 145 ie 45% or 100 to 130 if you include ED in this part of the calculation ie 30%.
Edit: would recommend removing alpha from the calculation
Edit 2: I suspect I have 20 or so toons who have taken T4 spiritual alpha, I will be really unhappy if I have to get them all a new alpha. -
-
Haven't had time to fully digest the implications of this but.
Quote:"Reasonable level of recharge" varies with level, at level 20 you will have a lot less recharge on average than at level 50, has any consideration been given to varying the ppm rate by level (character level not enhancement level). I'm not sure if using adjusted recharge is sufficient here or not.I think it's important to stress that the overall impact to gameplay this will have on existing PPM enhancements will be small. That said players will notice a small performance hit at very high levels of recharge. The balancing point for the increased procs per minute rates will be based upon a reasonable level of recharge. That amount will likely change through beta testing. You'll all have a chance to play test this on the beta servers in the not so distant future.
Also can I echo the request for clarity on how this works in AoEs, ST attacks always target their maximum number of targets, AoEs don't so can we be told what the number of targets used for the proc rate calculation is please, as currently I have no idea if I should be using the ATIO procs in ST or AoE attacks. -
I already had 20, and 20-30 is not worth 1200 points to me (10-20 is much more important than 20-30 unless you're doing major strips/respecs and want to save a lot of IOs), I did however buy the 5th and 6th recipe and salvage increases which at half price I did think were worth it.
The XP boosters were just too expensive to even think about. -
Exactly what should have happened, thank you for listening.
-
Agreed, the positron TF treatment worked well, the same for Penny/Sister please.

Quote:Yeah, fast I presumed was either Freedom style or just skip the guns (as those were the only 2 accelerated versions I'd heard about, and certainly none of the 60+ I'd done were done that way), it was only once we got in I realised what was being done. Had I known what was going to happen I wouldn't have joined as it just seems to me like the worst of all worlds, neither fast nor rewarding.I don't really think that there's a "perfect" or "ideal" way to run Lambda. Everyone has a way they'd prefer it to be run and, frankly, the only way to guarantee that anything is run the way you think is best is to run it yourself. Then you're in control.
If you get in on someone trial, it's theirs and they will run it the way they want to. I've been on trials that I thought were great and on ones where I thought really weird choices were made. On the great ones, I'll thank the leader and tell them I thought it was great if my computer's still cooperating with me. On the "weird choices" ones, I'll thank the leader and then keep my mouth shut about anything else. Most players I've teamed with are clear from the beginning how things will be run and it's your choice to stay or leave.
I only said anything when the leader said "Nice and fast", no it wasn't.
I'm not the sort of peorson who bails on a TF/trial once it's started without really extreme provocation. -
Quote:I should also add that I only do Lambdas with toons that need iXP, I do a more sensible trial if I have the 2nd tier physical unlocked, as I will have saved components and filled it to T3 as soon as I've unlocked it so be +2.To each their own. You're certainly not alone in that sentiment. I'm just not the type that likes to clear extra mobs just for the sake of clearing and hoping to get a purple or catalyst or whatever.
And this is why I don't usually do Lambda's anymore. All the other trials are relatively straightforward in what you need to fight and people don't tend to go clear unnecessary mobs. When I do join a Lambda that's not being run by Madame Pistacio I know full well that there's a strong chance the outside and/or turrets will be cleared and I make sure that is something I won't mind doing at the time. -
Quote:My preference is to skip the turrets (particularly if I'm on my granite), but do the outside as I often seem to get decent numbers of catalysts, threads and converters off the outside mobs which I need, and it really doesn't take much time with the whole league. The rush to the reward table seems pointless as the last 30 or so Lams/BAFs I've done have been common/uncommon, so little point. I need to do higher trials if I want a decent reward.Yeah, I prefer 2.5. The turrets are time consuming for little reward. And why street sweep the outside unless you really want iXP? And even then you're better off just doing another trial because the astrals, salvage, and empyreans are really where it's at for rewards, so the quicker you can get them the better (which is why TPN is so awesome).
So, skip the outside and turrets, clear the courtyard, then head inside. Split up and get all acids and grenades. After Babs spawns, wait 30 seconds or so to let the mobs accumulate so you get your astral for killing 30 of them, then take them out and Babs. Use acids as needed depending on the strength of the league. -
I had an exchange with MP after a "quick" lambda trial that indicated that either I don't understand what's going on or she doesn't. Am I wrong in this assessment.
There are basically 4 ways to do a lambda.
1. Kill outside - turrets - courtyard - get acids and grenades - Victory style, wait till 18:30 and then use acids and wipe everything.
2. Similar to 1 without doing turrets
3. No outside/turrets, courtyard to open the facility then get acids and grenades but don't use the acids and wipe everything outside
4. As 3 but never enter the acids part of the facility, whole raid rampages throught the grenades side killing stuff in there as the timer won't allow you to proceed for 5 mins anyway, then get the last grenade as clock approaches 5 mins. This (I've never done one) is my understanding of "Freedom standard" for a fast run. By doing this the timer never extends so guaranteed 5 mins.
1. is best if you're desperate for iXP.
2. is probably more efficient than 1 for rewards/time
3. seems worst of all worlds, you give up on 2/3 of the iXP and chance for catalysts and threads, and it's not even that fast unless you can clear both sides inside 5 mins.
4. You recover some of the iXP/threads/catalysts by actually killing stuff inside, you lose 1 astral, but may recover the 4 threads anyway.
The only reason for doing a 3 would be if you had a league full of +3s and were confident of clearing the whole inside within 5 mins (we took 7-8 in the one I did as there were several +0s). -

This is win, but I was just seeing toons called "Massive pole", "Enormous Rod", "Pole dancer" and "Brazilian Whacks" on my server.
-
36 reward tables across 3 toons
1 V-rare
1 rare
8 uncommon
26 common
The V-rare and rare numbers are definitely right, the U/C balance may be out by one. -

Quote:Actually what broke forcefields slightly was inherent fitness. There is no shortage of power picks now, prior to this I had a FF/dark def (made for a set team, not a recommended build otherwise) who only picked the 3 shields from FF, plus a slew of pool powers, there is no need to do this now as I can "have it all". Giving your entire team some mez prot is also useful.Perhaps it's because I'm approaching Forcefields from a Mastermind perspective.
I notice you mention 'focus on other powers' as a Mastermind with perhaps one direct attack, there is no other powers to focus on, I'm literally sitting there just waiting while the bots blow things up in relative safety with perhaps the occasional aid other or repair if someone gets a lucky hit.
Heck I could cast bubbles and toggle up, go for a smoke, come back and still be just fine.
Perhaps it isn't Forcefields as whole that needs a boost but Forcefields for Masterminds that needs something especially since Mastermind attacks are just not worth taking in set leading to an overall incredibly safe but boring experience.
Plus the most common response to the question "Bots/Forcefield or Bots/Traps?" most people will respond "Bots/Traps." -
This week's patch didn't feel like 140 MBs worth of stuff, my guess is it's there, the power help certainly is, try typing [guarded spin] in the live game.

I'm sure the other names are already on my ignore list for trying to level me 1-50 in 20 minutes and give me 25BN inf.
-
Also not using judgment/lore powers round the portals seemed to reduce the crashing a bit.

We need another armor set before we get another melee set.

Quote:I normally run the higher respecs at +3x8 with a team of 5 and +4x8 if any more people than that to get the feeling of the old respecs.Yeah, I'd say that the TV Respec trial is way too easy now. I used to do it years ago just for the fun because it was a challenging trial in its day. Now, it's rather boring and no challenge at all. Prehaps a steady, unhealable DoT on the reactor--slow meltdown--as a normal part of the trial would add a level of tension that would make it more fun.

It started as a boil on my bottom.

Beginning to wonder if something's up at Paragon, too much attention on the pummit ?
More useless fluff on the market.
Staff ready for weeks and not released.
WST not updated several hours after it should have been operative so we don't have a clue what it is (I note it's just been done now, 3.5 hours after it should have started to a REAL load of rubbish all month).
Time to check the dates on the loyalty program then unsubscribe my 2 accounts for a bit I think for the first time since just after launch.
