  1. My first character was the Minibromian. He was a Yoda-like character who embodied the Force of good. His name was a play on Midi-chlorian (with a touch of the Merovingian). After I created him I deleted him and tried to recreated him, I think because he started out as a controller and I wanted to make him a defender (or vice versa). Unfortunately I didn't manage to recreate the look and ended up disliking his look and as a result didn't play him much.

Well, that and because I really wanted a more action oriented hero. In the end I settled on TwoSeventyOne, my scrapper, who was a combination of Trinity and Neo and is the only character I got to level 50.

(Edited with some more details as I remembered him. I'll try to get a screenshot sometime.)

BTW, regarding difficulty, it looks like since I missed the change in the difficulty system, I was playing at default difficulty (previously I played on "rugged").

Since I didn't really beat Trapdoor I can't say how hard that is, but the other missions are pretty run of the mill, IMO. I soloed all the ouroboros content when it was introduced, and there were some much harder missions there, as I also remember there were at levels 40-50.

Thanks. I'll have to think what I want to have, and go back to the character concept. Thanks to the great help here I have my character in Mid's Hero Designer, and can plan what to do. If I have questions I will be sure to ask them. I'm very happy with the help I got so far.

The unfortunate side effect of using Mid's is that I found out about Ninja Run. But I'll resist buying it.

You can extract your current character's build off Titan Sentinel, it makes a datachunk for Mids. You plug that into Mids and it shows your current build which you can mess around with all you want without wasting respecs.
Thanks. This looks very helpful. I'll take a look at it.

Thank. That's what I was hoping for. Didn't expect progress to be kept. Mid's is probably the way to go, though.

As far as MIDS goes, its been updated for issue 19 for a while, minus the alpha slot/incarnate stuff, but it has inherent fitness changes in there. Double check that you have the latest version at http://www.cohplanner.com/. Sometimes the auto updater within the program is bugged so you may have to uninstall and reinstall the new one. Be sure to backup your old builds first just in case though.
The reason I thought it wasn't up to 19 is because cohplanner.com says "Now with support for Issue 18!" The Titan site has a mention that this version supports issue 19, so I'll definitely install it.

    Thanks for all the help.

Thanks, guys and gals. It's good to be back, even though I probably won't stay for long. I wish there was a more casual friendly subscription or free to play model for CoH.

    Respec questions

I'm back to the game after a while, and due to the fitness pool changes I clearly have to respec my hero. I don't remember much about respecs, except that the first time I respecced at 50 I ended up with a good level 50 character which was quite useless at lower levels once the ability to go back in time was introduced.

Anyway, first of all, can I cancel the respec and keep the respec token? I can't imagine that I will finish the respec in one sitting. I will first have to see how what new powers I can get and when, and then plan, so I'd like to be able to try the respec, cancel, plan then do it again. Unfortunately Mid's Hero Designer is only updated up to issue 18, so I can't use that effectively.

The second question is whether it's possible to easily tell how I build my current hero. I think that build is decent, and would prefer to build off it, instead of starting from scratch.

    Thanks.

    I'm rusty

I haven't been playing for over a year (was playing too little to be worth the sub), but I couldn't resists the Steam sale of Going Rogue. So I pick up my level 50 MA/SR and start of the path of the incarnate. I die with Trapdoor, but he dies in the lava by the time I'm back, so no need to work hard. It's only half way through defeating Holtz that I realise I haven't been using hasten. I haven't been using some other useful stuff, either, but not using hasten is like fighting with one leg tied behind your back.

Anyway, managed to die once during that mission, too, but finished it. Stayed up way too late, and coupled with the baby and toddler trouble at night got very little sleep. Still, it was fun. I hope I'll relearn and stop being so squishy.
  9. Haven't been playing for a while, but had to get Going Rogue on the Steam sale, and as a result encountered the nice Mr. Trapdoor. Escaped on the first encounter, figured the clones needed to be dealt with, returned and killed all who spawned, then died. When I came back Trapdoor was deep in lava, no clones around, though he looked to be in full health. I tried to attack him but was greeted with a text box. I figure he died in lava while I was away, the silly bugger.
  10. I've been inactive since May 2009, and I'm wondering if there's anything new for a level 50 character to do in this reactivation weekend. I know there's the mission architect, but other than that. Thanks.
  11. Nice post. Haven't read most of the responses, so might be repeating, but I'd like to add something from the point of view of a feral scrapper, having a level 50 MA/SR and a currently playing a level 17 dual blade / willpower.

As a scrapper in a team I expect to be protected. In normal play I'm used to some down time, be that waiting for endurance to come back for my low level, or at a high level being vulnerable when Elude fades.

When playing in a group, the attack schedule is not set by me, and there are a lot more enemies. To remain an effective mincing machine, I tend to use a lot fewer defenses when in a group. I concentrate on finding bad guys and shredding them, and often neglect noting my health until I am dead. In most good teams, that doesn't happen, because there's good healing and buffing. When there's no healing, I can die repeated deaths, which just cramps my style.

Regarding sharing enemies with others, I don't mind at all. I simply move from target to target until it's defeated. If others are attacking it, it's defeated faster. I don't mind. What I dislike, and that's probably the reason blasters should keep away, is knockback. It's bad enough that I can knock back my own targets (as MA), but having someone else knock them back for me is doubly bad. Knockback is the main reason I might get out of healing range in the heat of battle.

Also, regarding the "cut and run", yes, I've once led a group of enemies directly over a team recuperating from multiple deaths. All I can say is, if as a scrapper I'm left standing without support (see my first point), and have to use Elude, I will certainly run away when it's about to expire, an I can't promise I'll look too carefully where I'm running. Sorry.
  12. Technically, this resistance sounds interesting. I've always enjoyed tempting death with my SR scrapper (and since I5 have also died quite a bit more), so something that kicks in at low hp would be nice.

That said, I agree that the set no longer feels like Super Reflexes. Nerfing the defense in I5 has done it in, and while I can justify damage mitigation as a result of reflexes, the set still feels a lot less fitting its name than it felt in I4.

And on the general concept of frequent power changes, I must say that it's a pain in the butt, even when it's a benefit like this. I just recently installed the test client and tried to respec my I4 character to fit I5 (which I hadn't done until now). Then I read about ED and did another respec for that. That respec included dropping one of the auto defenses, and now I have reason to put one back in.
