  1. I'm hoping that, since Guerrero seems to have taken her under his wing, she'll get a lot less dopey/impulsive and a lot more scary/capable soon.

  3. Definitely a good start, I'll be tuning in regularly (already have the DVR programmed to record the series).

The director is a Romero fan, and it shows. I was also impressed at the lack of punch-pulling with both the blood and kinetics involved in the gunplay. The first shooting in the series was brutal in oh-so-many wonderful ways... I guess I was surprised to see as much as I did, given that it's on TV and all.

My favorite moment was him coming down the hospital stairwell in the pitch black, lit only periodically by matches. What an absolutely perfect jump-fright moment, and the fact that they played it like they did only made me respect them more. They obviously understand the tropes of horror and are playing with them in really smart ways.

Two thumbs up. Now they need to learn the "double-tap" rule.
  4. I read the first one and almost literally swooned at how totally devoid of anything resembling humanity (let along sparkly emo-ness) the "monster" in this series seems to be. It really is a (imagine Gene Wilder shouting this word) *MONSTER*!

I'll be buying this ASAP. The first book grabbed me, and I need a respite from my *twitch* current project for my radio show... I'm *twitch* reading the first copyright infringement from Stephanie Meyer *twitch* for a review segment.

I needs me some *MONSTER* to cleanse my palette.
  5. He's trying for a sound that'll be marketable in today's music scene. *shrug* Most older artists do that to some extent, unless they're solidly in the "superstar" category and print their own money with their CDs.
  6. Given that I teach film classes at my University, I may be a bit more obscure than some, but each of these films are wonderful... well, in their own way.

BAD: Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1998) PG-13 (88 minutes)
Truly awful (in a terribly fun and funny way) campy pseudo-slasher film about aliens who look like clowns and kill townies using things like bubbles and cotton candy.

INDY: The Movie Hero (2003) PG-13 (98 minutes)
One of the cutest, and strangest, romantic comedies I've ever seen. So strange that it starts as a quirky romantic comedy and winds up being a true romantic fantasy (think ghost-type fantasy, not high LoTR-style fantasy).

CLASSIC: Sabrina (1954) PG (113 minutes)
Humphrey Bogart, William Holden, and Audrey Hepburn in a 'working class girl does good' story with a twist. Very sweet story, and some wonderful societal anachronisms to stimulate discussion with modern filmwatchers.

CLASSIC: Support Your Local Sheriff! (1969) G (92 minutes)
Since you can's offer Blazing Saddles because of its 'R' rating, this is a good alternative for a classic western comedy. And with James Garner, Harry Morgan, Walter Brennan, Bruce Dern, and fabulous character actor Jack Elam, you can't go wrong for notable performances.

DISNEY: Tron (1982) PG (96 minutes)
Breathtaking special effects... for 1982 that is, but a story that should interest the tech-minded if they've ever wondered what it would be like to go inside a computer. Plus, you'll turn on a whole new generation of fans and they'll then want to see Tron Legacy when it comes out. There's no downside!

DISNEY: The Black Hole (1979) PG (98 minutes)
The forgotten step-brother to 'Tron', this film still has a few shots that take my breath away even today, like the approach shot of the Cygnus as it lights up. Plus, it has a few good morality issues to discuss, and a cast of heavyweights like Maximilian Schell, Anthony Perkins, Robert Forster, Yvette Mimieux, and Ernest Borgnine.

Those are the ones that come to mind this early on a Sunday morning. I am curious however, and someone else asked this... what level are your students?
  7. What a wonderful way to start a Saturday morning. Thanks, Ash!

    True Blood, 8/15

Usually an episode ends with me going "OH SH*T!"

Last night's ended with me laughing so hard I couldn't talk.

I can't wait for the remainder of the series, a.k.a. "Russell vs. The VLA."
  9. I'm going to be moving several characters from Pinnacle to Protector, because it's... nice here.
  10. Be welcome in your backness, AG!
  11. Expendables.

Reason? Watching Sly Stallone & crew be themselves is eminently preferable to watching Michael Cera be himself.
  12. On a different note, there is an open-source equivalent to Photoshop that you might want to look into. Check out gIMP: http://www.gimp.org/

It's 100% free, and it can do probably 90% of what Photoshop can do. I turn all my web design students on to it, and it works for them, at least for web design stuff, so hopefully it'll help you as well.
  13. w000000000000000000000t!!!

You have definitely been missed! The FSSC has been lonely, and definitely lacking in feminine charm, so your return is a welcome bit of good news.
  14. They just took the training room(s) down for maintenance. No word yet on how long they'll be down, but no one's on test at the moment.

    Hai

I'm a Jet's Pizza fan myself. Love their options for cheese bread... added pepperoni or bacon. Heaven.
  16. Generally I have my own mix running, although from 8-6 every day that mix is on w00t Radio too. I'm a soundtrack junkie most days, but occasionally I'll need to switch to some flavor of rock for a really big fight.

But like someone said earlier, I haven't heard the music in CoH/V in many years at this point.
