I'd say defence corridors really do nothing for a base raid defence.
The Warburg Hyper Phase temp is pretty much a mandatory for attacking, and since it got turned down to a 30 second activation it lasts forever. This pretty much negates the point of anything in your base other than the generator and room as it's usually a case of the attackers charging around phased to first find it, then phase up next charge and run right at it.
The generator of course powers your medical equipment, beyond everything else it makes work. Once your medical equipment goes down then it's off to hospital you go when defeated. Taking the generator down instantly denies the defenders inbase medical equipment. Defenders getting booted out of base after a defeat generally leads to a lost base raid pretty quickly.
Last time I saw one a raid really was just an event that consisted of phased attackers running around to find generator, phased attackers find generator and start ganking it. War of attrition, but eventually in a hour, the generator undoubtedly fails. Some defenders are defeated and have to go to hospital. The rest get ganked. Attackers gank the base entrance. Some others put up pylons. The end.
Pretty picture huh.
That was a while ago admittedly, but I would maybe guess that now with IOs and bells and whistles it's probably worse.
I guess where defence items come in could be in interrupting the big animation times on the pylon activations. But lots and lots of +defence gets around that. -
I'm gonna miss this as I'm not playing anymore.
Good luck with it, and have fun.

Sonics. Really nasty -res debuffing sonics and a vicious cone range.
*Puts it onto the to-do list* -
That's what's got me puzzled
.
I'm *sure* there are other examples where Power Boost applies to one component but not another in a power, so it seems a weak excuse. But it's too early to remember what they are... -
If PB isn't buffing the defence on your Black Scorpion Shield then that really is an indictment on the balance between hero Epic and villain Patron pools.
-
I'm now running my Bots/Traps/Taunts Tankermind vs AV/Hero level erm,.. AVs and Heroes
. No temps or Shivans or anything extra at all.
Just hit 47 yesterday so I swapped a bit in my build and am now running both Challenge and Provoke, and I have to say it is awesome fun Tankerminding.
So I thought of a few tricks and tactics and decided that I'd give an AV/Hero a crack solo, really just expecting to only see how long I could last.
With the very high defence from the FF generator, Black Scorpion Shield and Bot bubbles etc I'm able to perma taunt the AV onto me, while my Bots, offset to one side, get free reign to blast at range and free of nasty AOE AV damage.
So far I've dropped Silver Mantis and Black Scorpion. Silver Mantis was a bit scary at times as she requires a lot of positional management to keep those damn spikey caltrops out of harms way from me, and my pets. She also deals quite a bit of -def, which is very dangerous to my build. Apart from a shaky start due to excitement and nerves it actually went really well, and she really didn't hit me that much at all.
Black Scorpion was a lot easier, and I'm not sure he hit me once.
It's pretty cool fun and quite involving managing set up position between myself and the AV/Hero, and keeping them where I want them.

Hopefully Blaster damage problems will be fixed by then
?... right...?
Hope so, as looking forward to this still.

Most people spend their influence on improving their build....so the OP's must be S**T on that assumption.
[/ QUOTE ]Bizarre statement of the year.
[/ QUOTE ]Thx Mighty, I'll take that as a compliment.
It was a mega assumption that he was just hoarding Influence, rather than both building a fully IO complete toon and hoarding his farmed influence.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm making a mega assumption that standard IOs is probably to be expected and "fully IO'd" is sets, bonuses, bells and whistles and that non "fully IO'd" builds aren't inherently S**T. They aren't as uber, but they aren't just S**T
.
I don't see any accurate correlation between how much Inf someone holds reflecting their build.

Defiance 2.0?
Or is there an actual bug at the moment? (I havn't played blasters since my only ever blaster in i5)
You don't have to bring a PvP toon mighty, with this being Team PvP, anything team oriented has just as much worth

Well, I have a Warshade....
Check out the big thread from the US PvP section HERE. -
Wouldn't there be some sort of reporting you can get off the City Vault for this when it happens?
-
What's the current deal with this considering the general borkedness of bugged Blasters?
My only PvPish toon is a Blaster and TBH I don't feel like playing it they way it is. -
Nice. When you're done don't spose you'd mind looking at the villains one too?
-
Out of interest, what's the activation time you can squeeze out of Blazing Bolt? How small will the interrupt be on that?
I love Total Focus, but man it is a long animation time, which I guess is kind of the right pay off for that damage and stun. But using it at the wrong time is what gets me killed a lot.
I'm under the impression that ranged, with Boost Range etc, shines much better than blapping at higher PvP? That bolt could be really tempting if you can really get it firing off close enough to a blast.
Or is it the case that in duelling you'll be in melee range so much more anyway? -
What Extremus said.
20 minutes. Tactical start. No plz. The rating I'm not bothered about, but Tactical start = the no fun button.
Why's it even called a tactical start? It's an unbalanced start. -
Yeah you did beat me back and by a lot
. Your build and play are a lot different now. I like fighting you guys. Good prepared and very strong balanced team and cool guys.
I don't think anyone should begrudge a prepared team. Takes time to build and level one tbh!
About the tiers and stuff. Just wondering how this is gonna pan out as some of the very very experienced guys don't play the game regulary so much for a while now. I'm wondering how they are going to be accounted for. I think you may find that you could underestimate people.
And ratings, I wonder if this might actually not attract new comers? Getting people into PvP is like breaching a certain benchmark often. Personally I'd cautiosuly suggest for others that rated matches might possibly raise that benchmark a bit?
Anyway, I'm just up for some fun battles, so will be there.

Uhhh. I recollect your team being taken down hard by us 4 V 4 a while ago. Striving wasn't exactly involved either.

I think the main reason i've tried to push arena, is that it's instanced. Less chance of (wrongly) asking people to leave X and Y alone because it's an 'event'
[/ QUOTE ]
Also, an arena night would be a nice, and welcome, addition.
Regards to leaving people alone. Well those zone nights go down pretty well with lots of chat between sides etc, so there's not much confusion that there is actually PvP going on. Most times the factions are so involved going against each other, the wayward one or two wanting to be left alone probably are. But if not, well, a busy zone one night in a week is a better thing to have really. -

A person or team who keeps winning is simply not allowed to play against the new people...

I want to play against better people too though. Best way to learn and improve. I've spent the better part of whole matches getting a wholesome beatdown and running for my life
but it definitely makes you better

W00T W00T! I'll be there
.
Also note that Dark Spider often drives some zone PvP on Thursdays. Zonal however. Also, however, any I've been to so far have been a lot of fun and very friendly. -
This threads a bit of a suprise really.
The evening was cool, everyone was chatting ok, there were some fights. Defiants team won them. Was good fun, and that was all.
Now why has it come to some pointless sour grapes squabble claiming otherwise and some people who were there are now claiming they weren't even trying. Certainly didn't come across that way. Or, that certain people or players weren't there? And why do they have something to say about it not being there at all? Was under the impression some people didn't fight because dinner was on the table...
Wasn't about fighting any certain team from any server either. So what if there were no "major" players from anywhere? Wasn't about them anyway. Could have come too.
Get it straight. It wasn't a 5 v 5, it wasn't any one SG vs another, or certain people vs others, it was a bunch of people from one server and a bunch from another. One bunch lost. And anyone could have come if they wanted.
Don't get where the hastle is coming from. It doesn't reflect the way it went at all. And a a bit [censored] on those that put time in or waited around on people apparently coming... or not.
Thanks to the Union people who came. Was good to talk and meet you.

TBH I think that PvP is a process of evolution. It's gotten consistently faster and faster still and really it's a case that the very strong powers survive, the weak ones don't. And while it's plausible to counter just about anything, there are a selection of that are difficult to and without suprise these come to the fore and become very common in use.
From an outside perspective I think you can definitely say PvP has changed and is even more refined over the last months.
It's unfortunatley rock, paper, scissors, and as things progress there are less rocks, less bits of paper and less scissors around and I think this is the cause of frustration as you just get a really really big gap between casual pvpers who PvP occasionally and the guys that are really keen on it and would like to PvP above anything else.
I can sympathise with the frustration. I'd certainly like to do more PvP but quite often it's very hard for it to be even a learning process where you can learn about your attack chains, learn some alternatives, learn how to survive longer or mitigate damage, or to move better and play tactically when a lot of fights are over very very quickly.
Conversely though I'm not sure that getting beaten up a lot of times might not be one of the better ways to learn. I was in a casual (mismatched) 2 v 2 in which my teammate quit out after a minute or so. For some frustrated sutbborn reason, I thought [censored] to this and stayed in determined I'd try and at least take down both, very good, players just once each time. I didn't (I got one, and almost the other) and came out at the wrong end of a really bad score, but in the following fights I've had I think I've found myself doing much better. I have a better attack chain and I'm much more aware of mitigating incoming damage and also knowing much better when it's emergency time and I need to get really evasive or heal up or take other measure etc to stay standing.
Of course the keen people spend a lot of time looking at powers, sets, builds and IOs etc, refining their characters constantly and that's great, but it obviously will always lead to frustration because there just won't be any competition across that divide.
I think you can look at match ups and pretty easily say when a particular fight isn't even going to be a fight.
Edit: Spag pretty much makes a point that better says what I kind of think.
There's no problem at all with dedicating time and effort to put everything into a toon to eradicate it's weaknesses. And yeah that's frustrating for others to fight against, but also I reckon it's frustrating ultimately for Spag etc, because there are less people that dedicate such effort to refining their toons so much, or have less opportunity to finance such, and therefore not so much challenge or participants for him etc to battle against at that level.
While it's frustrating for some to face a refined toon of that magnitude it must be pretty frustrating the other way to find a fight at that level and have it be challenging or competitive?
Just my observation tbh. Don't ask me how that woulod be fixed.

Guess will have to try that AidSelf ideaand carry break frees
Regards using StunIve been told that combined with Energy Punch and other energy melee it is more effective.
That said; if you are using two powers to get Punch and Stun, you may as well go for Taunt and Fear
Thanks
[/ QUOTE ]
But the other Energy Melee attacks are great for causing Disorient! And Disorient is so much better than Fear, which you'd be committing a power pool choice to get?
