Just blew two grand on increased enhancement, recipe, and salvage storage. I'm down to 110 points, and I don't even know when my monthly allotment shows up.
Going to need to start buying points if they release something good in the coming weeks.
Well played, Paragon Studios. Well played. -
The Shard.
Is there an assumption that any zone revamp has to be co-cop? Or can a zone on either side be revamped and stay exclusive? -
-
With failure being described this broadly, there is no way the Wall could succeed.
-
Let's take a moment to discuss the Wall since Lothic is getting us riled up about it in the non-spoilers thread.
I always assumed that once the threat of the Others became known, then everyone would unite to fight the Greater Threat™. As we know now, only Stannis came to the aid of the Watch, and that was mostly to fulfill what he was told was his own prophecy.
The Wilding Army was turned back at the Wall, but only to be integrated into the Watch later under Snow. He even went so far as to send a rescue party north to try to *save* the Wildings!
We don't know what happens following Jon's "death", but I think it's safe to say the storyline of the Wall is not as generic as anticipated.
If anyone is to face the Others now, it will probably be a strange alliance of Stannis, the Night's Watch, Wildings, and maybe Dany if she *ever* gets her dragons over the Narrow Sea. Maybe we can throw the North in there under Snow, as once he is resurrected (you know it's going to happen!), then he can take his rightful claim as Lord of Winterfell and King in the North (or Warden of the North under Stannis).
MM: I think Shireen and Patchface were both written out. Stannis has no children which is presumably why he took Melisandre on the Westeros table. I did find that out of character for a man who values his word and honor as much as he does, but I guess if they were planning on showing the Shadow Baby they have to show how Shadow Babies are made. -
Quote:Agreed. And don't get me wrong, I was fully on Tyrion-love reading Clash as well. And like I said, its only a minor issue I have. I just think they could turn down the hyperbole on Joff and turn up the Lannister in Tyrion a bit. It's there don't get me wrong, I think its the strongest arc of the season. I just wish it was a little more finessed.
-
I definitely agree that they are going out of their way to make Joff evil, which really isn't necessary.
As far as making Tyrion too "good"... well, when you're surrounded by actual villains (Joff), fools (Joff & Cersei), and schemers (Littlefinger & Varys), it's bound to make you look good. Hell, I was rooting for Tyrion at this point in the book, even though I wanted Robb to eventually win the North.
Tyrion is still a Lannister to his bones, and I think it's coming through, although maybe a little bit too subtly.
This was not one of my favorite episodes, but I'm waiting for Renly's end so we can see more Brienne and set her off on her quest!
BTW, I always pronounced the "Qu" in Quarth... I guess I was wrong this whole time. -
Quote:It's not really faith in the Wall (the Night's Watch certainly knows how bad things are), but a lack of belief in ANY real threat north of the Wall. It's been thousands of years, and no one believes in the fairy tales any more, and the wildings aren't an organized threat. As far as the realm is concerned, the Wall is just a penal colony for criminals and disgraced noblemen.Again I don't really mean to burst anyone's bubbles over this point. Like I said before it just happens to be a personal nitpick of mine. My main problem with the Wall is the general naivety that all the Kingdoms apparently had to suffer from to think that the Wall by itself was going to be enough to permanently protect them from ANYTHING north of the wall forever. Sure the characters in the story have had 8,000 years to get used to the idea that the status quo would never change and the Wall would save them forever. But any reader from a mile away could smell the obvious hubris of dumb people having faith in a static defense that you know by the end of the story is going to be breached/bypassed in some form or fashion.
I'm also happy to say that your prediction has not exactly come to fruition yet as of book 5. Martin knows the tropes as well as his readers, and he often zigs when you think he will zag. -
Is there a sale on Salvage Storage as well? Recipe Storage? That would be more useful to me, but if the discount is deep enough I might pick up an extra tray of enhancements.

Quote:There are some issues with GRRM's history that people often bring up. Eight thousand years, and you don't have gunpower, the internal combustion engine, etc.? There's no good explanation I don't think, except that when magic was more powerful it would be a more profitable avenue of research than technology.I'm sorry if my historical knowledge tends to make me "disbelieve" the implied effectiveness of an 8,000(!) year old wall no matter what the circumstances are fantasy or otherwise.
As for the wall, as others have alluded to, it's a Magic Wall, and it's mainly to keep out the grumpkins and snarks. Keeping the wildings at bay is a side benefit at best, and it's not really effective at that during the time of the novels. -
Love that feature, but I think they messed up this week. I recall Winterfell in the opening credits, but we had no scenes in Winterfell, did we?

Quote:I always assume the goal in "Getting rid of all X" is so that the villain (or hero?) can be the only one with X on Earth/whatever planet we happen to be on. I'm almost positive Amon is a bender, and a very powerful one. If he gets rid of the competition (including the Avatar) he can rule as a god.The real mystery of course is what his REAL goal is - there are far to many benders the world over and far to many of the societies rely on bending to exist for one man to remove it all. I doubt the northern water tribe would live as well as they do without water bending and I can't see anyone being willing to remove the bending from water healers, so I suspect his goals are a lot more sinister than just 'making the world a safe place for non-benders'.
-
It would need to be something big... like wiping all of my characters.
-
Quote:Sure, he could be lying. We'll just need to keep an eye on Lighting Bolt Zolt!Well, Amman CLAIMS he can take bending away permanently - we have no evidence that it IS permanent so far. Comparing what he did to the effort Aang went through to take it away from one guy, I would easily accept that he is feeding the crowd a partial line of bull.
What he did looked suspiciously close to the Spiritbending Aang did to Ozai, though. -
-
The scene was heavy handed, but we know all we need to know about Joff now. He's one sick puppy.
Also: SHADOW BABY! -
His minions can do that, but the impression the episode gave was that Aman could remove bending permanently. If that's the case, I'd say he has to be a bender himself.
-
I thought this thread would be about fun with alt toons.
-
I think the title of this thread should be changed to Lambda, ur doing it wrong.

Quote:I barely understand the history behind the two Blackfyre Rebellions... which probably means they will be crucial to the plot!I was about 50/50 after my first read, but on re-read, I'm about 90% certain that Aegon is a fake.
I believe he's actually the son of Illyrio Mopatis and his silver-haired second wife. I'd say there's also a chance that Aegon may have Blackfyre blood through his mother's side (I'd give it a 40% chance). Finally, I'd say there's some chance that Varys himself may come from Blackfyre stock, and could potentially be Illyrio's brother-in-law (15%). -
Evil animated trees are a fairly old trope. Just take the Whomping Willow from Harry Potter marry it to a Hentai tentacle violation scenario and you'd come up with an Angry Molesting Tree.
Mermen would be cooler, though. -
Quote:And based on one of the later images, it looks like they might be giving us a Titan Energy Sword! That first one looks like it might be made of five heroes combined.
Edit: I seriously hope those wings don't flap. Or at least have a no flap option.
I'll make sure to use it first, rather than clicking brawl for 25 minutes before finally deciding to finish of the Robea-- uh, mob. -
I guess they were saving the Mecha preview for Massively, but damn, these costumes look SWEET!
This feels like a Tier 9 reward!
