Heat Loss is better than Grandma's home cooking, kisses from puppies and a fruity drink on the beach.......combined.
If you ever want to really feel powerleveled run any AT on a team with 7 controllers. -
Quote:Then I'm not really sure why you picked /cold. Part of its awesomeness is its buffs. Unless you are making a solo build (which you claim you want a team build) then skipping the shields or not using them (if that's what you mean, sorry if its not) is only using part of what makes the set effective. Yes, your primary goal is mitigation through control, but I argue that a controller isn't well rounded until both primary and secondary are utilized.
want to make a team support character whose role will be more directed at enemies than at handing out buffs
If you are that against buffing teammates then I'd suggest going with /storm or /TA. But to be honest shielding with /cold isn't that big of an inconvenience. If you can't stand that then maybe you need to go more /storm or /TA or control may not be the AT for you. -

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

I get 52 and 53s on that mission even with 0 level setting. I think it's just the way its made.

Quote:I'll disagree here, Earth/Rad is not a fast solo'r nor is it high on damage. It is, though, one of the most perfect team controllers. While it can solo safely, I wouldn't call it fast by any means.
Now,im exspressing the ease, and power potential of the Earth/Rad build to you a little, due to the factor, you seem to enjoy speed and damage.(Who doesnt?!)
OP- I'm not so sure what your problems with pets are, but they are really only a part of being a controller and really no hassle at all. -

Personally Ive always found it difficult coming up with a concept for Thermal and Cold.
I have an Illusion/Thermal/Fire who was obsessed with magic since she was a little girl, but unfortunately had no abilities. So she did the next best thing and became a magicians assistant. Her boss , a popular stage magician, was a master at making great stage illusions, and Jane always kept an eye open and learned a lot from him (especially with the use of Flash Powder and optical trickery...her powers are red/orange). She later finds out that her boss is a masked criminal using his stage devices for crime. She then turns the tables on him and uses the tricks she had secretly been working on to apprehend him and start a life of fighting crime. She then uses her popularity as a hero for her own stage show. While she has no secret identity, the one secret she does protect is that she has no magical abilities and is purely tech based.
When /cold came out I knew I wanted to make and Illusion/Cold/Ice (Flash Frozen Jen: lvl 42 now, and lots of fun, btw). When it came to concept time, I was a bit stumped so I went with the tried and true comic book trope of opposites. She has the same basic outfit (top hat, skirt, stockings and heels) but instead of FPJ's red and yellow, she is blue and white.
Jen is a rabid teenage fan of Janes stage show and she bugs Jane to take her under her wing as her sidekick in crimefighting, which she reluctantly does. This annoys Jane mostly because Jen actually DOES have magical powers, the one thing Jane always wanted. -

Where's the video? I've been dying to watch it. -
And an aoe immob keeps them clumped.......that's all I'm saying.
-
Yeah I was only talking about why I wouldn't call Mass Confuse a "hold", not trying to compare Mind v. Plant.
-
And don't forget EMPulse has a radius so large you can still use it from range and be effective so even though its a pbaoe, you don't have to be in melee to use it.
And regarding confusion as a hold, I'd say only halfway there. They don't attack you which is great for mitigation purposes, but they can still move which hurts your "set up a clump for your friends to aoe all over". That is where IMHO that plant trumps mind because you can seed then aoe immob for that "hold" effect. -

Oh wow, I've inspired people. My work is complete.
Glad you enjoyed. -

Then again a fire/kin bragging on how much they "pwn" a battle maiden map is kind of like bragging about how fast you can pull the wings off of flies.
-
Quote:If you pwn so much, why come here and ask people for help? Sounds like you have everything down pat. Now if you'd like to actually hear what people have to say differently than you think, welcome to the discussion.Alright I know you guys are saying... "He dont have FlashFire or Cinders". I posted the post to see some Ideas. I dont need FF nor cinders, I pwn a full map of warriors lvl 53 +8 team size. I can run a map within 17-23 mins. So for the person who said "Im tired of seeing crapy builds blah blah blah" its defiently not crappy ok. I can pwn in farming and Pvp at the sametime and not get bored. Flashfire is for newb non experienced players that havnt played a fire/kin before. But ill let you keep talking. I have plent of people on freedom that tell me im a crazy farm. Also I charge 10mill and get a team of 4 easly. Well with that said, thanks and have a nice day. Smoke the tweed one in awhile, it will calm your nerves! Bahahaha

If all you are worried about is -fly and you aren't interested in the -recharge or -speed, then don't worry about it. It gets down the occasional annoying flier, but that's about it. It rarely renders a spawn helpless if ever. (Personally I think plant is strong enough on its own that snow storm while nice isn't something that will be missed)
That said (just a little aside) I am not crazy about sacrificing major powers for set bonuses, especially ones for the newest controller craze (soft capping). I'm not against softcapping by any stretch, but not at the expense of your build. Your defense as a controller should first and foremost come from your damage mitigation through your control and/or secondary. Soft capping should in my opinion be an added little neat-o thing that happens to come along at the end. Sure it's helpful for a badassed fire/kin farm build but remember that is typically against specific enemy groups and not as effective against all groups, so I'd hate to detract from what you are supposed to do well for a few percentages of X typed or locational defense. And yes OP I realize that's not really 100% pertinent to your question, it's just something I've wanted to address in many of the other threads that end up being about softcapping or defense bonuses. -
In a control heavy set (as in plant) I look at snow storm as a nice bonus but far from necessary. In other words if I had room, I'd take it gladly. If my build was tight, I wouldn't and would probably only regret it in certain circumstances.
No the -fly isn't missed too much late game. They really don't incorporate too many groups that use fly heavily. Don't get me wrong, its nice to have but given the strength of plant, I'm not sure you are going to miss it that much. -
If you need a coalition for teleporter usage let me know CMA.
