Well, there's your problem. Find other things to do besides COH. Read a book. Sleep. Cook something you didn't really feel you had time to try cooking before. Go jogging. Talk to someone you haven't talked to in a while. Talk to someone you have, but outside of - and about something other than - COH. Do stuff around the house. Mow the lawn.
Quote:as a paying customer. I expect better service, not the same old BS excuses.
However, when they're done (2 months maybe?) it'll be much bigger, easier to get around in, and have far more parking.
My choices:
- ***** and moan about the situation NOW, or
- Realize it's temporary and will be better when they're done.
Think of the servers the same way. They're upgrading. They're expanding. They're making MAJOR changes. THERE WILL BE PROBLEMS. But those problems *will be temporary.* I get it's inconvenient to varying degrees - it is for me too. And they know it. But it's *temporary.* And it's not exactly life threatening.
I'm *hardly* a fan of the devs in general. I grouse about them constantly - with stuff they *deserve* to be griped at about (like all the "new shineys" that no longer are and end up forgotten and neglected when they need work.) But this? This isnt' something I'll grouse about. -
Quote:- Doesn't put his globals on the forums.Wow, everyone is getting hit now?
This is insane, and I seriously hope making this thread isn't what caused everyone to be targetted.
- Doesn't have the forum name the same as either global name.
Yeah, I can be found, but I'm not particularly worth the bit of extra effort. *shrug* -
Quote:Two days does not a month make. That excuse works for isolated issues. It does not work for a month of nonstop foulups and outages.
Are these worse than usual? Yep. Are they doing things they don't normally do (hardware upgrades?) Yep.
Now, if we were seeing a week (at this point) of continual downtime - seen by everyone (and by continual I dont' mean "the servers were never up," but seeing repeated crashes and the like) I'd be more inclined to agree with you. And yes, I know there have been some odd issues related to them - but I haven't heard a *lot* about them (a couple of people having powers vanish until they get teleported, etc.) Overall, though, this isn't enough to really take them to task for. Hiccups to be ironed out.
Do I expect them to do better on the next upgrade? Yes. They should be getting used to whatever's causing the issues and integrating them into their planning for *next* week, when I expect the extended downtime again because of I21 (launch or prep.) And I expect that a month from *now* these will barely be remembered. Because that *is* what we're used to from them.
It's inconvenient, I get it. I don't argue that. I do think it's getting blown out of proportion, but it's the forum. *shrug* -
Quote:... really. It's also a fact that one of CoX's selling points up till recently was its relative reliability. As a result of the past month or so, that selling point is no longer valid. The 800-lb gorilla, with a server load two orders of magnitude greater, has had better overall uptime for the month of August.
That's not bugs, that's a complete non-effort by NCSoft staff.
So if I have perfect attendance at work, and suddenly have a really bad cold that knocks me out for two days, and a day again a week later for some reason, my boss should just assume that I'll be calling in sick every day? Or should he assume it's a glitch and I'll probably have great attendance the rest of the year? -

Quote:My pointing that out once is not hurting you either, and yet you feel the need to start insulting me and calling me a "dev apologist."It's pointless to try and reason with people who are complaining. It's akin to throwing water balloons at a wall to try and make a hole. Just let the wall be there. It's not hurting you.
So you needed to post why? -
That is not "Dev apologetic." I'm as affected by it as you are. It's pointing out a *fact* to someone arguing for recompense. I know, awful thing those, facts.

Quote:You may want to read the user agreement. Service is not guaranteed - here, or on any other game.I wonder if they'll extend our PAID FOR account by a day, being as we havent been able to play a game that we have PAID for. This is hapening more and more often now
Why?
Because it's the real world, and "stuff happens." If this were actually a *vital* service, there would be, instead, uptime guarantees and penalties. But since nobody's life support equipment is running on COH ("No, really! Need h34l0r!") ... go read a book, watch a movie or otherwise relax. -
Quote:"Continue to be" implies "Are now." That is not the case. Not sure what server you "can't group" on - I can't speak for the French and German servers, but I have no issues getting groups anywhere else.after it dies down at least half the servers will continue to be ghost towns.
Now, if you mean "ZOMG I have to have 8 people every second I'm on," well, that's your hangup. It seems every time someone insists they have trouble getting groups, there are all sorts of "well, with this condiditon, that condition" they never bother mentioning. Hell, I had someone saying they couldn't get groups on *freedom.* Went on, got group, ran missions, provided screenshots. Started getting a bunch of "Well, I mean XYZ" - ended up being "I can't get a full group of 8 full time redside within 1-2 levels of my level." Heck, I was picking up people who had left his group. Group of 3-4 within a minute already in the mission, one left, another came on, we rolled on through.
As for server merges? You'll lose even more people when they lose characters, lose names, lose SGs and lose the server communities. Yes, I have a copypasta on it. I'll let someone else find it. -
-
Of course, the flip side of that is that the people who like it don't spontaneously post that they do. I mean, when's the last time you saw someone come on and say "Hey, I love using Dimension shift! Just wanted to say that!" to start a thread?

Quote:Star Wars Centennial Edition edits:
While I enjoyed your predictions it's actually interesting to consider exactly how these movies will in fact "evolve" over time. You see Lucas is shooting himself in the foot over the issue of whether or not people should be able to change his movies after his death. Think of it this way: If Lucas himself is cool with the idea of his movies changing every 5 or 10 years then what would be so bad about someone else changing them after his death? Lucas himself has already proven that these movies are not fixed in stone anyway so why should anyone respect his wishes after his passing?
Luke no longer rides a Shetland pony to his duel with Wyatt Earp.
Darth Vader's armor retoned to look slightly less pastel-pink.
Old B-1 made to look more human (toning down the 75th anniversary android edit.)
All dialog about Chewbacca digitally reworked to create his new name, Darleen, to handle lawsuits claiming we encourage the chewing of Bacca.
Princess Leia renamed to Gwendolyn.
3d-projector now in scenes with "force ghosts." That never made sense to the audience, obviously, so we're glad to fix this finally!
Stormtrooper armor digitally recolored red to show they're the bad guys.
Grandma Tarkin digitally altered to remove confusion over gender. (TODO: Check old script, if we can find this. Still not sure why they called her grandma and hired some guy. May have been some sound degradation in the 65th anniversary release.) -
Quote:mmm....I actually plotted it out once based on the ages of the actors when they started and although that is the general trend, it doesn't quite hold (Colin Baker after Davison, McCoy after Baker, Eccleston after McGann).
Eccleston after McGann, though... he's been through quite a bit. That is, after all, where he destroys/locks away the Daleks and Time Lords and goes to the "disillusioned warrior" attitude.
If he'd ever have a right to be a bit worn looking... which rather fits TG's comment. -
Quote:Which almost makes me glad mine are so old. They haven't gotten plays (except for one I'd asked to be looked at) for years. Literally. Where are they? 4 stars.I know you are trying to be positive and cheer me up (it's appreciated), but having been with MA since beta and having arcs fall from a low numbered page to obscurity before, it unfortunately is the case. For example, "Old Dog, New Trick' was getting several plays a month until it fell to 4 stars after a double 1 star hit. Since then, several months ago now, it's not received a single play.
WN
Both labeled as story focused, at least one canon related - de nada.
Of course, that, the reports of someone going through and one-starring series of arcs and seeing the Hall of Farm arcs - well, I've got two files sitting on my desktop with background and outline for arcs. They're probably going to stay there, at best, or get deleted more likely. No enthusiasm for actually working on them in this environment.
"Why should I bother to put in the effort?" After pumping out guides at the introduction, it's rather depressing to find I have that attitude toward the system. -
Because simple dialog has no effect...
"Rosebud" will now be "Drink Coke." Updates the scene, and brings in some advertising dollars.
"Luke, I am your father" will now be "Luke, I am the Dancing Queen."
"My God, it's full of stars" will be replaced with "AAAAAAHHHHHH!"
"You maniacs, you blew it up! Damn you all to hell!" will now be "I think I left my car here!"
Yeah. Dialog has no impact at all. Should be perfectly fine just changing it on the fly. Perfectly fine, should be done more often, every time a movie is re-released. -
... which... has not been the definition of Epic. And never has been. Epic has always = tied to the lore/tied to a story ("Epic" in the sense of "Epic of Gilgamesh.") And shortchanging a PEAT by having its own unique story cut off at 20 would be rather weak.

They could have coins hovering above them!

(Honestly, I'm... eh about this. I'm for it as long as it's optional and can be turned off.) -
Quote:Didn't one of the Repeat Offenders folks actually manage that?As of today, it was something like 58 characters for a person to get one of each powerset to 50. Might of been some overlap, but not sure how much.
Me, I'm (generally) happy having one of each AT to 50, and... formerly having (bloody electric control! But I did ask for it...) one of each Control set to 50. -
Welllllllllll.... if you listen to the Eight Doctor, he's human on his mother's side. But that, IIRC, kind of came out of nowhere.

Quote:That's the beam rifle. The celestial gun is more... tubular, as I recall.
But yes, Soldiers can use it. Need it unlocked first.
Celestial rifle here on soldier - colored to make it stand out a bit -

Here's my thing with a Praetorian EAT:
They're not done with the primary storylines of Praetoria yet.
Now, yeah, this is all opinion and POV, but the way I see Epic ATs are as - well, think "Professor of Fifth Dynasty Egyptology" versus "History teacher." One focuses in FAR more detail on a specific segment of the lore (the Epic) while the other (standard AT) touches on it in passing. (And yes, the VEATs were rushed and did a piss-poor job of this - you can tell, the early arcs had some work done, the latter ones might as well not exist, capped off with that horrible metagame "Doctor brainstorm proliferated powers" speech.) After all, "Epic" in this use is "Tied to the lore."
Unfortunately, it seems a lot of people just look at it and go "ooh, powers." Or maybe "powers and graphics." (Or even "ooh, tankmage.")
So - while looking for a PEAT, ask yourself what would be doable with a unique storyline that makes sense from 1-50? As interesting as a DE-based one would be - how would you play it in Praetoria? As soon as you stepped foot in there, pretty much everyone should converge to wipe you out. Even in Primal (well, maybe not the Isles,) you'd be seen as a threat. What would make an interesting 1-50 storyline for the guys with the backpack - and still make sense to play with the existing storylines? What isn't actually covered that can be looked into with enough detail to *make* a set of existing storylines?
And, for a Praetorian EAT, especially - think of the storyline work for hero, villain *and* side switching. No, it hasn't been updated for HEAT or VEAT, but the tech didn't exist at the time, either. A PEAT would really have to be written taking that into account.
The Coralax, the Blood of the Black Stream, even potentially the Rikti (though I think they're covered fairly well, I can see going through the Rikti Civil War being enough to pull from 1-50 - as well as choosing sides) I'd say have more potential there than a Praetorian at the moment.
And if your reaction is "Who cares," well, you're ignoring what the "E" stands for and don't want an Epic AT then. You want a powerset. -

Your VIP status is reliant solely on you having a paid subscription.
As for the other, click on "Beta test," not "VIP beta test." (At least that's when I see it. Yes, I know, "VIP beta test" makes sense.) -
I do believe they've already gone with "That's more a guideline than a rule" already.

Quote:Explanation for the tux:The tux, I think will be explained in future episodes. Hypothesis: he went back to the wedding to check Mel's story (eating fish fingers and custard whilst there to resist the poison.)
"I need some sort of support. A cane. No, a walking stick. Cant' have one of those without a tux. Do I have a tux? Yes! Time to wear a tux to help hide the cane."
