No, you don't. I can completely ignore everyone else and go play in my one-account SG base if I so choose. Doing so has no impact on my game play. I don't have to interact with anyone - you can send me things and I can ignore them completely. (Which, given you get no indication of anything coming in when in the base editor, is very easy to do.)

List one thing that's required in the PVP zone for you to get from 1-50, or finish any mission as designed.

Not one? Then there is no need to go in there. Personal desire is not need. I need food and a way to stay hydrated to stay alive. I do not need a $500/plate dinner and $1000 bottle of wine at a fancy restaraunt.

When introduced, there WAS an actual need to go into a PVP zone - the liason that you were sent to (and which blocked further missions) was inside the PVP zone. That contact was moved to the outside of the zone - thus removing the only actual need to enter. Even you acknowledge the difference, though you tend to want to paint it as a need:

I want the badges for my hero, or as a villain - the accolade power

    Yes, there is.

"ZOMG leave me alone u evil pvper let me get my badge" is not it, though. Pretty much the ONLY things considered griefing, officially - as in "That the GMs will take action on" - are:

    1. Specific exploits, when found. I honestly can't think of one right offhand (that specifically takes place in a PVP zone, not things like "getting confused in a PVP zone, rushing out and nuking your own side in Atlas Park.")

    2. Forcing a player into inescapable geometry/"Map holes" - such as one spot under some rubble in Siren's Call, or into the watchtowers (which have since had doors added to them so you can exit.)

    3. Excessive language that goes against the TOS (hate speech, slurs, etc. - and they're a bit laxer about it in the zones.)

Note "attacking someone who just wants a badge" is not in there. Nor is "They ganged up on me," "They didn't let me get my shivan," or "they attacked me when I was just watching someone else." Even some things that would be considered griefing in PVE (attacking your own side when confused, training mobs onto players) are not considered griefing in PVP. Not by the PVPers definition, but *by the people who made the game.* Hell, even the devs have trained mobs onto players in PVP.

They are as "near" the same effect as a Ford Focus is "nearly" the Space Shuttle.

There is no unprepared - or at least unaware they are in a PVP zone - person. You must make a conscious decision to enter a PVP zone and put yourself at the risk of PVP. If this were Aion, for instance, I could understand someone being "unprepared" - log in mid-zone, no pots/scrolls/etc, and get attacked. But even if you log in in a PVP zone in COH, you STILL have 30 seconds to decide "No, I don't want to PVP" and beat feet to the nearest exit.

  9. As long as I have a reasonable chance of stopping/beating him (IE, chase from one end of a cave to another,) I don't have a problem with those, even if I fail.

There is one (or two?) though that I've had in an office - where all they have to do is reach the elevator 50' or so away. THAT is irritating. (As are Capo hunts in Oakes where they duck right back in the door they just left. That's not part of a mission, though.)

About the only thing that may cause an issue - and it'd be a minor one - would be the "Buy inspirations during a TF." Of course, there are so many sources for them *now* even that would be questionable.

I'd personally be more for a WW/BM interface in the bases first, but I don't see an issue with this, honestly.

Still is. Sometimes your camera can go "behind" the walls (I notice this most either just entering a mission or exiting an elevator, it seems) and you'll see the grey outlines of spawns. Draw distance can have this effect, too - the mobs get drawn in before the walls in front of them. It's odd.

Am I angry/jealous/feeling gypped/think it's a "slap in the face"/etc? Nope. Not in the least. Someone else getting theirs at 20 doesn't diminish the 13 issues/4 1/2+ years I've had to play with my Khelds.

    Waddup Doms?

Finished the (*&$#(%^%* Bane to 50. Finished that night playing my Mind/Fire (45) which is still incredibly fun. Plus, running on occasion as part of an /earth duo (Ice/earth for me, since - well, I really like Ice/, Fire/ for the other half) and I just have too much fun flipping/smacking down/etc. enemies.
  14. Answer to the title: For some of us, the day we rolled them - I4 for me.

That said, there have been many changes over the years (such as being able to shift to Dwarf while mezzed, and neutering Voids, on top of just plain game changes - especially IOs and their effect on slotting) that have had quite an impact on Khelds.

When you finish the PB, roll a WS. Learn the zomgwow that is double-mire. >.>
  15. Only one I really put any time into is my Arch/MM blaster (before it had its moment as FOTM.) Just worked as a concept. Nin/TA is... eh. Just haven't been able to really get into that one.

I'm not sure why I don't have more archery characters, given I enjoy it IRL (well, used to, haven't done it in years.)

Oh, no, you're spot on with that. Honestly I was going through the list more than anything - the ally buffs would be hard to pass off that way as well. And admittedly, I don't have many senses that make me into a dark fuzzy shape either, so DA is kind of iffy there, too (unless you call it your perception of yourself, perhaps.)

The IO covers pretty much anything with a build up type power, as well, so just because there's no armor doesn't mean the person wanting to do so is out of luck.

    Eh. *shrug*

The point of EATs, to me, is the storyline they explore. The Rikti storyline is pretty well covered, from the Lost through RWZ. I'm not really sure what an EAT would add to it. There's also a matter of just how you'd keep the feel of being - well, a rikti on primal Earth. An alien, whose people were just recently trying to invade, a memory that would be *very* strong still. If COH were a single player game, I could see it - you could certainly tailor it around Rikti as an expansion. But as part of the overall COH world? I think it would be... jarring, perhaps (why would you care about robbing a bank, redside, for instance?) Why would anyone talk about sending you back to the Zig? There's quite a bit of dialog that just wouldn't make sense. (Omega clearance? This is a secret? It'd be like telling a Canadian they're Canadian.)

Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't mind an "inside look" at the Rikti, especially the Restructurist/Traditionalist division. I just think it'd be an exceptionally difficult undertaking, that (to keep from being ... odd, at times) would possibly involve locking out certain contacts or storylines, as well.

The same holds true of another that'd fit perfectly well on either side and which has been mentioned in the past - the Coralax - though they wouldn't have had the issue of two invasions, so they'd probably be easier to fit in. Well... except for the "kill or convert the humans" bit...

    More than that:
    - Warshades
    - Dark Armor (T,Scr,St,Brt)
    - Ice Armor (T)
    - Super Reflexes (Scr, St, Brt)
    - VEATs (obviously, with leadership toggles built in,)

    - Focused Accuracy

    - Clear Mind (emp)
    - Clarity (sonic resonance)
    - Enforced Morale (Pain)

    Power pools:
    - Tactics

    IOs:
    - Rectified Reticule (for anyone with some sort of tohit buff

    Inspirations:
    - All three tiers of yellows

There's quite a lot of +perception floating around out there.
  19. Leadership - Tactics. Not to mention some powersets with built in Tactics and other +Perception powers. Any of which are enough to take care of any NPC stealth on their own.

No, they don't deal with the glowies, but other than that, it's pretty much covered. Couldn't personally see a power pool set up around it.

What's amusing about this is that even though your math is wrong (3-2 = 1, not 2. Adding inherent defense = 2, not 3,) you're actually right about the number of powers they have (CS didn't count the melee attack or the shield.) So, yes, you are starting out, with NPC void hunters, at three attacks. (Not picking at you there, I just found it amusing.)

    That said -

It's easier to go from three powers to nine than go from three to 18 (or more.) And when you are done - you might as well just have made a humanform Warshade, waited for GR and crossed sides. I just see people being disappointed in that. (Me, I'd go through it just for the storyline, though given how horrid the VEAT arcs are I can't say I'd be optimistic about them to start.)

Also, before VEATs, the plan was originally to have Nictus as the villain EAT - something I was looking forward to, quite honestly, as I wanted to see the "other side" of the Kheldian War arcs from heroside. That was dropped and we got the current VEATs because, per Matt Miller, they wanted something tied more closely to the redside story, as well as not wanting to exacerbate the "devs hate villains" nonsense by making redside fans feel they were getting a "recycled" AT.

Whether that attitude would still hold - moreso with WW at the helm now - I don't know.

I still say I don't see it happening. *shrug* If it did, I don't think you'd stay a Void Hunter - they *are* a very, very limited group, both in capability and backstory. They're a piece of a piece of a story. So if it *did* happen, I'd say eventually you'd be transformed into a full Nictus (see Kheld backstory guide in sig - it is part of the lore, at least for Galaxy troops, to have some become "fully converted" when the shards get more powerful over time.)

Given the devs (a) nerfed Voids to "Minor nuisance" status and (b) removed the extra damage from the Void Hunter Rifle villains can get, I'd have to say "No, not really a threat."

To be blunt, this would be an exceptionally stupid idea in a game that encourages alts so heavily.

If I, for instance, went to either of my main servers and put two bids/sales in per character, *I wouldn't finish the server before running out of slots.* Given that I do sell off salvage, recipes, etc. I don't need - and cheaply - you'd do more harm than good, and move the demand off the auction house to "Yeah, if you want that (insert item here,) go talk to @auctionguy - he's got them at 20 mill each. Only real supply in town. Bunch of them hoarded in his SG."
  23. Quote:

    Quote:
The prices of goods on the WentWorths market are driven by what each individual player lists their auctioned item for.
Don't blame the sellers for that - at least not entirely. I, for instance, got a purple recipe the other night. Did I list it for a huge amount of money? No. 5 inf. Got 300 million or so out of it. I almost never list anything particularly high - Cost of materials plus a little bit for a crafted item, typically (though 90% of the time I trade it off to a friend/SG mate.)

Now, I'm not saying the sellers are *blameless* - after all, some do list items at rather exorbitant prices. But that's not true of all, or - I'd dare say - most. Personally, I tend to think there's a bit of cross-training going on. Person gets an item, lists at X price. People get used to seeing that item around that price at some point and just start bidding at that point. Future sellers see the prices at that point, and just start listing there... or, even if they don't, the existing bids often keep it there (or near there.)

(As far as that 300 million... yeah, spent it messing around finishing up a few things. Time or money - decided to save the time and spend the money.)

    Quote:
the best way to combat the auction-house inflation is to continue on the development path of removing the Auction House as a critical part of the game, or as a critical part in fitting an avatar with IO set enhancements
It already is a non-critical part of the game. You don't need IOs for anything. YOU *want* IOs, perhaps - and you already have multiple paths to get them. Don't want to deal with the market? Play the game. Let your friends and SG mates know what you're looking for. Play AE and start rolling. Turn in merits, which you get from... playing the game.

You have a choice to spend one of two things - time, or money. And the more time you spend, the more money you make *anyway,* should you choose to IO out a character. Is it "instant gratification?" No. But - again - time, or money.

  25. One of each AT to 50. (Almost there. Need to get my Corruptor - early 40s - and my Bane - at 49 - done.) (Edit: Bane's done now. Whew. Now for something I can have fun with.)

One of each Control set completed. (This isn't "to 50," necessarily - I don't see me getting Illusion up there, the set irritates me that much - but fully slotted primaries, sure.) Come to think of it, other than getting Phantasm slotted up a bit, I have this one mostly done. Fire's mid 30s (and as a fire/storm, a real END hog,) Illusion's early 30s.

One of each Tanker primary. Mostly so I get out of rolling more Fire/ tanks. Both lvl 50 tanks of mine are Fire/. I think my next highest is mid-20s, which is surprising given that I like the play style of a tank.

Finishing my Dark/Dark Defender. (Moved to Victory so I wouldn't forget it again.)
