  1. I think an important point is to qualitatively define some of the factors you don't go on to discuss later in you're tables.

As an example you mention Dark is capable of some damage. Well theres Howling Twilight, which does piddly damage and is the only source of damage in the entire set. The DPS on it is magnificently low, and the upfront damage is equally as low. While yes it is a portion of the power, it is by no means it's primary purpose.

Likewise I don't recall the last time I used it as a Rez intentionally. Other than moving closer to a corpse because I was about to fire it as a debuff anyway. Perhaps rank a powers properties in terms of generally accepted useage, and perhaps in different circumstances... wow this is actually turning into a big ask!

    i.e HT would be (for me);

    Vs AVs...Debuff(regen), Rez, Debuff(recharge/move), Control(stun), Damage
    Solo mobs...Control(stun), Debuff(move/recharge), Debuff(regen), Damage, Rez
    Group mobs...Control(stun), Rez, Debuff(move/recharge), Debuff(regen), Damage

Also, while people have mentioned commenting on the number of powers required to 'match' debuff of the more popular sets, it may be worth noting the number of powers considered 'skippable' in a set while still maintaining debuff viability.... I.E Black-Hole and Petrifying Gaze and Shadow Fall are skippable if debuff is you're only goal.

Of course I would never recomend skipping Shadow Fall, and personally I have petrifying Gaze, even if i rarely use it, but i do recognise it as a passable/situaitonal only deal.

What I would ideally love to see would be a comparison including the powersets you skipped. FF is a non-issue, offering only control and 'damage', however comparing Fire/Pain to poison would be very interesting.

Well its a power which effectively gives you 75% resistance, but the hard targets you're gonna want to throw it on hopefully won't be directing their attention to a controller for long, so it would be wasted.

To OP; in defence of you're set you've said alot of "well, it's just like this secondary power, but moved to primary..."

So you're moving debuff/buff secondary powers into the primary that should be for control, but think about stacking, sure if its combined with you're secondary, but "its just like steamy mist" well take you're primary with Storm Summoning, and now you can run 2 sets of steamy mist? at once.

And something else was "just like freezing rain" very convenient then that keeping with Storm Summoning, you can double stack freezing rain.

Also these powers which debuff you're own recovery, what would their endurance cost be? if it would be low, like Oppressive Gloom's alternative payment method (which is kinda fun) but ultimately this is too different from that, and how is reducing you're recovery any different than just having a high endurance cost (except theres less you can do slotting wise to compensate)?

I think its more likely a zone that allows for all of these things which makes Pocket D a good choice, and covers it's downfalls will be introduced.

The league system supports up to 48 players on a league, its a fair guess this may be necessary for future raids (i know 48 players in one spot is a lagfest, but 48 players sent 3 different ways from the off, maybe not so)

Since most zones cap at 50, gathering you're whole team in one place for that may become an issue.

Union tends to use Pocket D, tho the odd one forms in RWZ.
  4. If the Devs added a feature to TF contacts that an individual approaching the contact was informed, "Hey Sorry, you need a minimum of 4 players to deal with the tasks I have, come back when you have that many... or wait, I have a group of 6 heroes out there now who may need a hand, would you like to join them?"

Would people's view points on when it is and isn't acceptable to kick an unwanted addition to the team change?

The beauty of an MMO is that it can be played in many different ways, RP, PvE only, PVP only, PvE/PvP only, solo/ grouped etc etc.

Unfortunately some of those different playstyles run at cross purposes to one another, would I play with a RPer that had to stop for thair character to do a 5 minute complicated series of emotes after every group fight... no, would I deny them the ability to do that if they wanted, no.

But if I found myself on the same team as that, something has to give.

Infact the prime example I can think of here is Badgehunting/temphunting in PvP zones. very few people now approach these forums in a state of rage after just having their pixelated butt handed to them in Bloody Bay while all they wanted is shivans... most people accept its a risk of entering that zone, you're desires run at a tangent to another players, and (arguably) neither is wrong.

People can make full leagues worth of teams to begin, or they can use the Q, However if a team for whatever reason wants to run in a special way, and someone joins who prevents that, then theres a choice to be made, change how you wanna do it, or change the situation.

Would it be begrudged of the team that entered at a minimum if they all quit and restarted, potentially facing the same issue, surely it inconveniences the least amount of people to kick the adds. The result is the same in terms of how the team eventually gets to run the trial there way if they all quit and start again, but the inconveniance of what is probably a design flaw falls to say 9 or 13 people, instead of 1.

You also have the best set of initials ever... K"TR"BdC, just tickles me, definately a challenge to find someone with longer.

And the Hellfire Whips were you're work? Love it! I know the animation guys had a horrid time with it from what BaBs said before he left, but I imagine you had just a tough a time getting it to be as perfect as that.

Actually everything you just stamped you're name on is pretty awesome. Of course now you've set yourself a fire high standard, I look forward to seeing what you come up with surpassing it!

EDIT: since you will have a VFX suggestion thread no doubt, I did wanna save stuff for that, but... and I'm only guessing you'll have to have a hand in this... tintable rocket boots...alternative and tintable vfx for Ancillary and power pools, and collaborate with Sexy Jay to get rocket packs with tintable plumes... and.... tooo many things....... *Self Destruct*

  7. I hover along Tankerminding anything I come to.

I keep an eye on the map and go in reverse of most of the team, crawling slowly to the targets. I've noticed a higher reward tier doing this

Or sometimes I will dismiss and debuff for people around the targets, tho then I tend to only get xommon (i've never had 10 threads and im aware its not supposed to make a difference)

From what i have seen of "No Ordinary Family" the dad has invulnerability but not super strength. He can survive a car running over him, or getting shot, but he can't stop said car dead easily.

I'd go for good old fashioned immortality/regeneration blend. but would add sub clauses allowing for evolution to keep up with humanity.

Her liver was failing, her front legs were severely arthritic and her back legs had atrophied to the point where she could no longer walk. Watching her try to move was torture for us, knowing that she was in severe pain.

We spent the day giving her as much love as we could, to make sure her last day was a happy one. We said our goodbyes before taking her to the vet for the final time. She was smiling as she slipped away. I will miss her deeply.

The 7 Year celebrations seem trivial now in light of my grief. But I had hoped to enjoy a tiny ray of light on this dark day. By the time I logged into the game at 7:30pm BST, Pocket D was full.

I missed the party, but I miss my dog far more.
dude, seriously, don't post stuff that sad.

brought a tear to my eye.

I only missed it because I was torturing myself at the gym.

If you mean has a chance of causing a "10 threads" option, then yes, it could.

If you mean it could reduce them from potentially getting a "v Rare" to only a "rare" then thats not how the system is stated to work.

Trip Mine i've specc'd out of as I never used it.

    Caltrops kills everything.

    Acid mortar kills everything.

Did an STF last night and just set up a few Mortars amongs the vines and wtched the numbers plummet.
  13. Every game ever;

I use Up/Down/Left/Right for movement. Although in FPS RMB is often forward, and the up key is crouch.

RtControl is Jump, and the numpad fills in power activations, or in FPSs, commands, weapon switches reload, that sort of thing.

Insert to PGDN above the arrow keys also add for a few more choices, although often they are push to talk keys for voice-comms.

I rarely make it over to the other side of the keyboard, unless I want to type!

This seems like the best approach, but could take a bit of time to get through for 15 other people. I hope you let some of your more common team mates off the hook.

I've noticed after a few mins of everyone screaming "check your temps" people will quite often wait until the marauder fight moves to that part of the map, and then they will sneak away to acid the door thinking no one will notice. So a few people when i've ran it haven't made it back into the next run.

Although saying that I was on a Lambda the other day, not leading, and in the middle of combat, when only 1/10 portals left, someone slipped me an acid, and the leader sent me a tell saying the person who slipped it to me had sent him a tell saying he'd seen me use it late...

Unfortunately for them, I wasn't on the acid team, and it was a league leader that had been on my runs, so I knew I was safe, so i guess theres no easy way.

Also, on the EU servers theres a few non-english speaking players that play on the english servers, so it can be quite tough to communicate with them in the trials.
  16. You could always do a Traps/DP defender too.

Things may have changed since I lived there though, anybody from Peterborough lurking on the forums?
The trouble with the rail network is that it just doesn't connect very well.
Peterborough sounds nice, but anyone from Leeds and anything west of that faces a few transfers to get there.

South West up to 3, and the same for South East, but you're right, as far as something on the mainline 'spine' of the country, its beaten only by York or Newcastle.

Since both offer trans-pennines routes, and being from newcastle I know that there's (or was) trains to Bristol and Birmingham. Which only leaves SE and SW in the lurch, and because of the poor layout, someone always will be, but the benefit of say newcastle, is that those not on the rail network, flights become a possibility, which is not so much for midlands.

Don't get me wrong, Peterbourough would be ideal for me, its either 2 or 6 hours drive, depending on if some stupid truck driver wants to spill Ethanol on the M11/A14 again. But then going home is a 5 hour to 9 hour (same caveat on the M11/A14) to me, that most places are the same distance or less.

Also, to actually talk about the current event, I'm not sure if I can make the saturday at all now, which is a bit of a pain, hopefully i'll get my plans sorted in the next few days.

    Dr Who 23/04/11

Given my dislike of Giant forehead-giant chin man (Matt Smith) I was hoping for a very secret regeneration into a new doctor. And when that didnt happen, I was kind of hoping that instead of Matt's Doctor being the one waiting for them, it could have been Tennant he got to help out.

I took that as reading that there were changes due to Masterminds because of this feedback. I still believe this is the case, even though as you rightly point out the devs haven't said so explicitly.

This is why I'm asking for Masterminds to go and test it out - I can't do it myself (like I have with other Mastermind changes) because I can't access the US Test Server.
But they also clearly said that once your participation pushes you past the "10 Threads" option, which I didn't even know existed, then its just down to the RNG.

So how come my level 50+3 MM gets commons and the odd uncommon

while my level 50 (pre plusses) defender (and a trapper too, so rellying on pet entities) gets rare pool nearly every time (seriously, 1 common, 1 uncommon, 7 rares)

Has something changed with the numbers that I've missed?
I may have been thinking of the res numbers. Regardless the levels of regen thrown against an AV are piddly.
  24. I do get your point.

Afterall our high level content before was Stopping Recluse, Stopping Nemesis, Deafting Hamidon & some alien invaders and it was all very "this is the big bad, beat up his sidekicks then beat him up"

So I guess we have to think of the trials as one really long TF.

"This is the big bad, oh hes planning on blaming us for releasing prisoners, turning the entire super powered population of another dimension against us, better stop this and beat on a few of his sidekicks... and now we can go fight him...

...oh no, hes got a super serum that will turn those loyal to him into super toughies, best go stop that before it gets out of hand, and nwo we can fight him, oh no wait..."

I guess they are teasing out the big stuff for the end. though rumour has it Preatorian Hamidon will be one of our next targets.

And think of the new powers not as rewards for completing what we are doing, but as rewards from the well for punching above our weight.
  25. BUT, in massive 24 man leagues 1/5th of the league needs to have the reactive interface slot trigger on their first attack against a single target to reach the cap anyway.

Saying that masterminds will provide a lower return on investment is really just the same as saying any big group of players (50 man hammi and ship raids) will eventually cap out.

There are 8 main areas of focus for interface (2 in each branch) so if that cap for all is 5, then 40 players can cap everything on their first hit if they spread out enough and get lucky on the hit.

thats still leaving 10 people in big groups to do what they want, they wont make a difference.

The problem with reactive being desirable is both form and function.

In Form, damage is percieved as being teh ubers, it helps bring down enemies in a quantifiable way.

In Function because its the best (really) even if AVs resist some of the damage, AVs resist the debuffs of the other sets by just as much. Since the -regen numbers, for example, reach a piddly -10% when fully stacked that impact on a target is meaningless, AV resists will drop that to 2%.

Bring a trapper or a dark miasmist into the fray, and they leverage a -500% or resisted to like -100% regen (permable)

Interface is by it's very function at the moment, never going to make up for a missing piece of a good team, regardless of how its leveraged (destiny can, if multiple users of the same power stagger their casting) however the bit of damage that comes off reactive is always going to help even the AV fights more, the small fights alot more, while everything else does less and less. (whats -10% regen on a minion, assuming it survives 5 hits)

But anyway, thats not the point of this thread, Zap aint saying "ZOMGEE everyone go and roll up reactive". It was broken, now its fixed, it needs testing and me and him can't test it at the moment due to our test server being offline for the forseeable future.
