I'd much rather do a steamroll version of the ITF where you just kill everything in your path, but don't go out of your way to clear maps. You can run 2 or 3 steamroll runs in the time it takes to do a kill all or kill most and your drop rate will probably be higher because you're not wasting time looking for edge of the map groups, you're just taking out what's in front of you. Plus you get 2 or 3 end of TF bonuses instead of just one.

We had two great back to back runs this Saturday. After those runs my Emp had enough shards to craft a very rare
Probably 90% of his total shards came from these Hami runs - and that's with me mostly picking an HO for the reward, hehe.

As others have already said, getting A merits and using them to purchase recipes like LOTG +recharges, Miracles, etc., crafting and selling is a reliable way to earn inf. You can also play the market, finding IO's which are cheap for the recipes and sell high when crafted.
Also, make sure those purple sets are worthwhile for your character in the first place. A lot of builds are better off without purples - for example if you're going for defense or hit points/regen. -
100% agree, Escher. It's the people that play the game that keep it fun for me. From the veterans that you can rely on time after time to the PuG's that keep you entertained because you never know what to expect from them and often end up finding some jewels in the rough.

Aww, FMP you are sweet. Thanks all for having me on the team. I had a lot more fun than I expected to. As FMP already said, PvP usually isn't my favorite thing to do, but working with you all made it fun. I really enjoyed getting my blaster into a good PvP build. Sure, I like winning, but I had a lot of fun in matches where we ended up losing - just because it was usually so close and even the losses, maybe especially the losses, make you a better PvP'er and player in general.
I was really impressed with how much we pulled together right at the end. Even on the day of the final match we made some big improvements in coordination.
And Smallz, I had so much fun in that 2v2v2 match you have a screenshot of up there! FMP and I were ribbing each other for days after that match -
Most likely I'll be bringing a TA/Arch defender. Maybe an FF/Psi defender but I think I'll have more fun with the TA.

If you haven't been to a Hami raid recently, I urge you to check it out. It's fast paced and everyone participates. There's a job, multiple jobs, for all AT's. No standing around waiting like with the old raids. Melee damage on yellow mitos, ranged damage on blue mitos, holds on the greens, taunting hami and the yellow mitos to keep splash damage off the damage dealers, throwing adrenaline boost/painbringer on the hami taunting tank to max out his regen, dishing out RA's to everyone for when the mitos respawn, giving out mez protection, speed boost, etc., etc..
And 53 merits (or a Hami-O) plus usually multiple shards in 30 minutes! -
Yep, absolutely. My intention on pointing out my potentially spotty attendance was more for what the weekly teaming head count would be as opposed to whether I'd be able to stay in level range.
-
That photo is cool, Hamster. I'd *like* to join for the next run. However, my attendance might have some substantial gaps.

Got my Hero Elec/Shield brute out of Praetoria and was able to pick up Lightning Rod and Shield Charge (woot!). He *may* have hit 38 - I logged him out at the end of Mid-Level Crisis not sure whether he was 37 or 38. So, 16-37 or 38 for him, I believe.
My Rogue Demon/Pain MM went from 32-39 (yay Painbringer!).
This is probably not totally accurate for the non Mid-Level Crisis TF's but, in terms of TF/SF's:
- Sister Psyche (brute)
- Skyspec (brute)
- Moonfire (brute)
- Citadel (brute)
- Hess (brute)
- Calvin Scott (brute)
- Manticore (MM)
- MLC Manticore (brute)
- MLC Ice Mistral (MM)
- MLC Freakspec (brute)
- MLC 2nd Treespec (MM)
- MLC Mender Tesseract (MM)
- MLC Calvin Scott (brute)
- MLC Mender Lazarus (MM)
-
I would like to reiterate what FMP, Scooter and others said - I was really impressed with the turnout for this. Two or 3 teams for every task force! Most of the TF's were very smooth, but my team had a couple rough patches with a +2 freakspec and a +1 treespec. I was very impressed with the perseverance of my team. Everyone hung in there and we were able to complete both. Especially with the treespec. We had all but given up and decided to go around the vines one more time. And we did it!
It was nice to spend a day doing some non 50 task forces and team with some new (to me) people. Thanks again everyone. And extra props to my amazing wife, FMP, for the event idea! -
Happy Birthday! Hoping your day makes you as grumpy as you want to be

I highly recommend getting chem nukes as well. The more the better - to lower his resistance and defense.
Oops, I see that my better half already gave the same advice... -
I wish I could put my case on the floor - there's a couple animals in the house that would wreak havoc on it.
-
Congrats on your new opportunity! I hope it works out well for you.
You will be missed! -
I restarted the comp. And when I started up the updater, it downloaded and applied a patch. I can get in now. Hopefully it won't apply the bad patch again if I restart the game.
Does the mechanism for bypassing the updater no longer work? I tried creating a shortcut to cityofheroes.exe with a -project coh at the end and it told me I couldn't run the program directly. I was hoping to bypass the updater for the time being to prevent a bad patch from being applied again. -
I'm having the same problem now on my primary PC. I can still log in on my laptop, but on my desktop PC I'm getting this error. I was running fine on my desktop then quit the game and started it up again and it applied a game patch - I think this is part of the problem - and now I'm getting that error.
I have tried deleting the checksum and .prv file. Still unable to get to the server character selection screen. When I click on a server, any server, I get the "No response from server..." error. Any other ideas on how to get around this? -

Have hit this problem as well. We have worked around the issue by having the team leader log off (not quit the TF), then log back on. The next person on the team will become lead and they should be able to talk to the contact and get the next mission.
FYI, you won't get immediate help from /bug. You want to do /petition and select Stuck. A GM should get back to you in 5-20ish minutes in game to help you resolve your issue. This is useful for when you have an enemy stuck in the wall in a defeat all mission, for example and don't want to restart the mission. -
Happy Birthday! Hope it was a good one.
