Well we had a quick chat anyway but sorry to hear that you be leaving us (but glad you have enjoyed yourself pre lag). I know lots of people suffering from the lag and have read quite a few people have had enough.
Anyway it was nice knowing ya (I'm sure you will be missed) and hopefully everything will settle down for you. You can always stay in touch with us on our forums. It is a shame you going so soon as you not really got to experience some proper evil pvp. I know we have a base raid coming up as well as Pious's zone invasion which sounds like a lot of fun. If you ever change your mind you know where will be. Take care and auf Wiedersehen! -
Im sure there will some cannon fodder from EVIL to defeat

Indeed, Bru knows our techniques well. We had to reject him due to the amount of consumption of beer and cookies he required. -
Soz forget to mention that we have used our mind control device and he is now happily a part of E.V.I.L.

In PvP Im supposed to level new toons as the ones I got aint good enough
[/ QUOTE ]
Just because you toon isn't flavor of the month doesn't mean you can't enjoy your pvp. I would have entered 3's company but think most my toons would be decimated. Fortunatly (maybe due to the more pvp or luck on union) I am able to team with others to make up for my short comings. If its dualing you after then you are pretty stuck I guess unless your opponent doesn't know what they doing.
I have always been more of a social gamer and thus grinding has never been hated due to its a chance to chat and have a laugh with my friends. I think when most my mates left CoH to pastures new I was in a similar position to yourself. However CoV came out and I formed an sg and met some great people which rekindled my love of the game. -
Well lots of advice on offer. Maybe it be worth speaking to other defianteers who have moved across and see what they have to say. It sounds like it is the PvP that is keeping you here and pvp on defiant is a bit stale. Maybe a temp break/move to union is what really is best (just to get a different experience which might be refreshing). I suppose it can be overwhelming and you can feel like it be too much effort making new friends and leveling up yet another toon. I don't mind helping out and putting you on a fast track for leveling purposes if you ever wanted to join the forces of evil where staying alive is that much harder/frustrating/enjoyable. If its a hero you have to be then I suggest the up and coming NPA pvp sg who are currently leveling up toons. Its not a recognised force yet as only recently started up but union will be hearing and seeing this lot in the pvp scene soooon.
Well that be my advice. Its not deserting Defiant as Union won't be your main home. However it should provide you with new faces, new challenges and a fresh pvp experience. You also get a chance to kill me which I think everyone comes to do.
-
Might as well chuck my opinion in. For me it would have to be sonic/thermal and ice or fire/thermal.
-
Sounds good and if gets even more people playing villains will be great. I might even join you for some sessions although don't normally have problem getting teams.
Will you be keeping us updated with general levels of the team? -
Been really busy of late so not been on as much as usual. However I am happy that its not really affect the supergroup much. Currently have quite a number of low level villains in our midst (which is good for me as got several new low level alts). As a result of this we now have several new members so hopefully you help them around the game and give them a chance to team with yourselves.
Not much else to say really apart from grats to the Horde for now being 2nd in the prestige charts (hopefully they stay there).
-
Hey Sisco, I too have a look out for you. I know many from my supergroup have created new toons and so got a very mixed range including some around your level. I am trying to catch up with some of those that are on everyday (damn that double xp) but just can't make my mind up with what I want to level.
Some of the advice given is well worth taking on board. Good luck and maybe see you soon. -
As this is starting afresh is anyone needing any subs or looking to create a new team? I filled in for Pysdocks team last time but wouldn't mind taking part.
-
Well if you do have problems with people pulling out I don't mind having a laugh and putting forward my non solo toons (should get destroyed). It be a shame for this competition to fall apart.
Btw is anyone recording any of the matches? -
Long story short, Dr Death left, Violators folded. Rest of Violators moved on to other sgs including ourselves.
-
The whole badge hunting does seem to have died down. I remember when always annoucements in coalition chat with badges up for grabs but you don't seem to get that much these days. With badge hunting channel I think there have been a few problems/incidents which has made some people leave which could be the reason why less active.

Lol the safe zone is way to far and out of reach. The haring as you describe it will be people going in an opposite direction to you guys. As stated above there is a large difference between running (or trying) and just legging it to safe zone. Im sure everyone has done it but you find those that seem to live on the boat. Besides don't think I have said what is and what isn't allowed. As far as I am concerned only thing you can't do is grief.
Also its not always on the beach (although majority I think can all agree it is). I have had several nights where running around all over the shop. Infact had a great stand off fighting for the carpark (that was one hell of a nite guys). The problem with fighting else where is probably the mobs put a lot of people off who haven't quite hit 50. I think it is also alot easier to find the action, when it is else where people struggle to find it (although I would say its more to do with npc mobs). Going a bit off topic now, ummm emps ruin zone pvp with there buffing and running away :P.

Its different to run away to save your life. And its different to run at the safe zone to save your life. IMO anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's true.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry if wasn't clear but thats what I meant. Running is a valid tactic (except in duels i.e. running to safe zone when you know you gonna die). However running to a safe zone where you mostly protected (can still get some eh psydock) is just annoying. Again wrong to give grief but I don't have any sympathy for them.

No offense to Octavian Vanguard (see comments made about frustration) but I wouldn't expect many pleasantries for fast killing death/gank squads.
[/ QUOTE ]
Most of the PvP I've done lately (at all in fact) is in two defender teams. Sometimes with a (PvE built) scrapper or two as well, but more often not. I honestly cannot remember the last time I was in a team which was bigger than four people in a PvP zone. We certainly don't have the sort of numbers that a couple of the villain groups we regularly fight do.
Hardly what I'd call a "fast killing death gank squad", and if it is then zone PvP has more issues than I thought it did from a teaming point of view.
A large number of people simply seem to have issues with people who play sensibly, and play to the strengths of the sets they are using, and it's absolutely nothing to do with uber builds.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you have to agree that you lot have been very quiet of late. I have not really seen any of you lot pvping (in the numbers that you had in the past). Heck you have frustrated so many of my lot that when ever you were spotted would hear calls of "Octavian Vanguard in WB!!!" which would result in us trying to form a team to kill you.
I still stand by comment of death squad as nothing short of popping inspirations or some sort of tier 9 would save you once you picked a target. I would also point that killing those doing nuke runs does upset people and reason why they (wrongly) give abuse. That and what I guess is happening is not acceptable and hope it hasn't turned you away from pvp on union. I relish the chance to ummm kill you guys.
Nothing wrong with playing to your strengths but I wouldn't class running to a ship when being attacked sensible. Everyone seems to do it and would be one of the issues I would say there is with pvp. -

Sorry to hear that, normally union folk a lot better than that. You have to let me know in game which blaster it was.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not normally better than that at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Joking aside, it's really not normally better than that, and I don't play an Emp, I play a Kin most often, sometimes a Rad.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think I still stick my neck out and disagree and say its not the norm. Not sure why I don't get these comments as I too venture in a lot of the time with various ATs including empath, stalker, dominator, brute, tank and death/gank squads and have not been privy to abuse (lucky me I guess).
No offense to Octavian Vanguard (see comments made about frustration) but I wouldn't expect many pleasantries for fast killing death/gank squads. Still shouldn't expect abuse and I am now left wondering if it always the same people? -
[ QUOTE ]
I pretty much only ever play Defenders in zone PvP (hero side, I wanted something super-powerful so I built a Dominator for villain side) on Union, and I have established, I think, what is generally expected in order to avoid getting moaned at. You just need to follow these three simple steps:
1. Don't buff people, it's lame.
2. Stand still, being stunned while standing still would help, it'll avoid the possibility of you accidentally falling face first onto a heal button or something.
3. Die. Lots.
Do more than that and you'll tend to get whinged at a fair bit. Defenders are there to provide easy kills - everyone knows that!
[/ QUOTE ]
People like yourself know what you are doing so cause mega frustration. Some people are too accustomed to easy mode and just like to vent to make themselves feel better. Sometimes there is nothing you can do about it which makes things worse. I think the problem is really just down to frustration. Having a team where you cant kill anyone and where you are a dead man walking really is annoying. Not excusing people's behaviour as they are in the wrong.
To be honest I do get a bit of enjoyment out of it as you really do have to work for your kills (if you have the characters/team for it). -
Probably not an isolated incident but I take things like that with a pinch of salt. There are some people that just don't get it and as such just ignore them. If you get abuse I find repeatedly killing them cheers me up (don't they realise aggrovating people just means they get singled out). They eventually go away or bring a new character/team to the action. Either way its win win
.
Don't think will have much time today until late evening but have fun. Its been busy in warburg for a long time now and have had loads of fun in there (too much as neglected leveling up other toons). -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah i was getting tells from a blaster tbh which was hilarious plus alot people were moaning on broadcast about having an empath being noobish/cheating/nub. (wth!!)
Hmmm dunno if u were there Max i think u came duelled once and left?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry to hear that, normally union folk a lot better than that. You have to let me know in game which blaster it was.
Hehe nah i came, got mashed in quickly without any resemblance of a support team and then logged onto stalker. I was the one running away as fast as I could surviving by the skin of my teeth (majority of time). -
Not sure if you were sent tells or something because when I was there couldn't see much moaning. I had a good time in there and for once there was only 1 emp so I see that as a result
.
-
I think villains has always demanded that you apply more effort to get teams. I have no idea why this is the case but it does seem a number of people struggle. That said I don't normally have any problems (but as others will say it does seem quieter then perhaps it once was). The reasons are numerous but the main reasons why is probably due to having an extended friend network and an active supergroup and coalitions.
Although you may not appreciate it at the moment finding like minded people can be the start of a beautiful adventure of villainy (its just about getting the ball rolling). When I was starting out and faced similar problems I managed to form lots of Pick Up Teams (PUGs). This resulted in tending to team with the same people on various occasions and then looking out for each other.
In closing good luck, I have always enjoyed my stay on union villains and hopefully you find out that was just an off day (you do get a few of them). Put a happy to team in your search comments and remember to switch on looking for missions etc (although majority of people don't seem to). Doing so does make those peoples looking to form/create a team life that little bit easier. -
Afraid most of my lot tend to go to WB where can have even more fun
.

Big grats, sorry I missed the occasion though. Always next time I guess
