The same applies to Live.. try the method of giving the updater it's own directory anyway.

    For Example:
    "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\Updater\CohUpdater.exe"

It'll probably still install and use another copy in the main folder, but at least you shouldn't get the error message on the updates. It's worth a shot anyway.

The Rumor was that if you select the Temporary power as the reward, you will also be granted the Power Liberator (Master Thief) Badge. I cannot personally confirm it either, but it's worth a shot. It comes from reliable sources, so I'd be willing to try it. Just make sure you select the Temp power at the end.

As for your event, I unfortunately don't get out of work until 9pm and have a scheduled event at 10pm that night already anyway, so I'm afraid I'll have to miss this one.

Good luck to you though. Maybe I'll see you for the next one.
  3. Besides ensuring that Vsync is on, try making sure you are using the native refresh rate of your monitor. You probabaly already are, but it's something else to look at.

That sounds like another plausible category. I like it.

On a side note, to add to the thread...

Now, understand that I'm not complaining by any means. This will simply be a suggestion to add to the way the system works:
If you are looking for defeat badges (for example), it would be convenient if you could open the Defeat menu, and have it sorted with complete badges at the top, followed by the rest of them in order of "closest to completion". That would fix the OPs concern, as well as add yet another improvement to the interface.

And blargh for autoparsing urls into links. I'd rather that didn't shrink like that.
You can disable the auto-parse by using use the [noparse] command.

For example, to display the full Address without a link:
    Code is:
    [noparse]http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Requestexitmission_(Slash_Command)[/noparse]
    Displays as:
    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Requestexitmission_(Slash_Command)

Alternately, you can display the full URL as a non-shortened link simply by adding text to the URL code:
    Code is:
    [url=http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Requestexitmission_(Slash_Command)]URL: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Requestexitmission_(Slash_Command)[/url]
    Displays as:
    URL: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Requestexitmission_(Slash_Command)
  6. You can also click on this icon: in the upper-right corner of the text box. That will switch your editing mode as well.

Changing the color is as simple as highlighting the text you want to change, and clicking the button in the toolbar, or changing the color first and then typing between the codes that get inserted into the ox for you.

    For example: [COLOR="Orange"]Insert Text Here[/COLOR]
Will display as: Insert Text Here
  7. After swtiching, you will be granted the alternate version of the same power and the badge that comes with it. You will keep BOTH badges and BOTH powers, but the previous version of the power will be grayed out until you switch back again. This means you'll have to replace your binds or the icons in your powertray for any of the non-auto accolade powers.

Personally, I simply used one of the alternate trays to set up the icons in the exact locations of the old oness and I'll switch it back and forth any time I change my alignment.

As mentioned, an alternate solution is to use an actual shortcut pointing to the live version instead. That should prevent the error. Just make sure you are still using the -test flag of course.

Even further, the file doesn't necessarily have to be on the desktop either. It can be in a download folder or you even create your own folder to put it in and run it from there so it wont conflict with the version inside the folder. Then create the shortcut to it's new location.

    For Example:
    "C:\Program Files\CohTest\Updater\CohUpdater.exe" -test

Either way, I do I agree you.. I hate having actual files on my desktop. Sometimes I'll put setup files there, but it's only temporary until I install the program I downloaded, then delete or move it to a more appropriate location.

All of those badges are available to both sides though. The Vanguard base is still the vanguard base regardless of faction, the SG portal is still the SG portal, and logging out is still logging out. Even if the accolade was specific to a particular side, the player would have earned the badge appropriate for their side instead, and been granted the appropriate accolade. There shouldn't be a reason for the accolade to show 100% but not award, unless it was bugged.

I'm afraid it doesn't seem to be working well if you are regularly running at over 100C. The fact that it seems stable and runs fine in some areas doesn't mean it should or will operate at that temperature in all circumstances.

It's like speeding on the highway... you could go miles and miles and days and days, but you never know when a cop is gonna show up and ruin your streak.

I just realized this was for a laptop. You are certainly bound to have higher temps but you might want to look into getting a cooling pad or something to pull heat away from the system. I would think you would want to try to get that number down at least below 90 for sure.

I rarely see mine above 60. I'd certainly check into that.

I agree. I've certainly never had it take even close to 3 hours in St. Martial either... even while solo.

Either way, as pointed out, a character that might not be higher level or doesn't solo well might want to check out Port Oakes. It's worth a shot anyway.

That's not really true. The system is pretty good at error-checking things like that these days. You can use any combination of front or backward slashes (even doubled), and the paths should still work just fine, even in Windows.

For example, attempting to do the following nonsense will still run just fine:
    Start > Run: "C:\Program Files/\///\\//\/\//\\\City of Heroes//\/CohUpdater.exe"

Not only that, but chances are the error message is simply text written incorrectly. The installation directory saved in the registry does not contain an ending slash, so it was likely written in as text: ( INSTALL_DIR + "/" + FILENAME ) or something... not necessarily the actual internal path it is trying to follow. That error message has been like that for a while now. The slashes don't have anything to do with the actual problem.

Anyway, it's usually fixed by running the updater file from the desktop instead of in the actual directory. Or for the test server, you can simply use a shortcut to the Live version, but with the -test tag on it. That way when the program tries to update the updater file itself, it wont already be in use and give you an error.

I usually get 2 tips, and go to the one that is closest. I usually end up getting a 3rd tip while I'm inside the mission, which I'll investigate when I'm done with the current mission and then go to the closer one again.

As for tips disappearing.. I have not had that sort of thing happen. There is a mechanic that wipes them when you travel back to the opposing side, but from DA, Talos is right next door. That's quite strange.

But if it doesn't happen for people with NVidia cards, it might be something that needs to be addressed by the next version of ATI driver.

Either way, I don't personally find it very annoying, but I don't spend most of my time near those types of trees. If I happen to start doing some arcs in Croatoa again and it starts to annoy me, I'll just shut it off while I'm there. A nice quick fix until it's actually addressed by ATI.

The question is.. can anybody on NVidia confirm that it is definitely not happening for them with FSAA turned on?
  19. AE missions don't count for ANY badges at all (except AE-specific badges). Even the damage, healing and Inf earned while in an AE mission does not count toward the badges.

On a side note, make sure you are fighting Marcone bosses. People typically hunt for this badge in NE St. Martial.

I already did. Turning off FSAA clears it up, but since it seems to be limited to only those specific textures, I'm just going to keep it on.

Indeed, I'm running 10.8 already as well. It seems there are still a few minor issues to be fixed.

On a side note, I did get a chance to check out Perez Park right now, and I did indeed see similar behavior.

Those trees just don't like FSAA I guess. Everything else in the game has been fine as far as I can tell.
  22. I have not experienced that personally. Try updating to the latest 10.8 ATI drivers because it fixed some issues with FSAA. Then re-check your FSAA and Occlusion settings. They should work together now on all ATI cards since the version 10.7 driver.

    Edit:
I just went to personally verify what I currently see in Croatoa (because I have not been there recently), and I see the same thing. It is indeed the FSAA because turning it off makes it go away.

It's probably a side-effect of the way that type of treeline barrier is created, which is why we didn't notice it in other areas or zones. I'd theorize you are only going to see that in areas that display those specific kind of trees, like Perez Park or NW Cap as well.

I guess they didn't get everything fixed after all.

It wont let you use a Tip in any Co-op Zone. You can still earn Tips, but it tells you to go back to Paragon City or Rogue Isles to investigate it.
  24. If you see this dialog, then you might want to check for a keylogger on your system:

I have personally not seen it happen unless I opened another instance of the game and accidentally logged into the same account, instead of one of my others. I hope you aren't infected with any kind of password stealer, but if it's happening repeatedly I'd certainly take a look. Server instability usually leads to a simple disconnect from mapserver and sent back to login screen.

It seems odd that 3 of you on the same team would be affected at the same time though. Did you all download something recently, or were you on any 3rd party chat program together too?
  25. That doesn't necessarily mean that somebody else is logged into your account. When you crash or DC from the server, it might take some time for your character to actually "time out" on the serverside. If you try to log back in right away, it will give you the message that you are already logged in. Clicking again will force the toon offline and allow you to log back in normally.

Are you getting the error message at the time you are being forced offline, or not until you log back in?
