New 5770 is great but... a jaggy?
So I installed my new 5770 (with the latest drivers of course) last night - and everything looks and runs great EXCEPT:
*sometimes* when I move or turn, I get a horizontal line, somewhere in the top half of the screen, where the image above and below this line doesn't match up (it will be offset by < 1cm IIRC). Yes, vsync is on. If I find an area that repeatedly gives me this issue (the wood looking 70s office buildings seem to do it most), then switch my texture settings (high->medium, etc.) the line will disappear - but only for that area, it will pop up in a minute or two somewhere else. This line is not visible on screenshots. XP/2GB Ram/ATI 5770 1GB/Core2 2.13x2 Thoughts? |

I have tried vsync on/off, fsaa on/off, AF on/off. FSAA,etc. are set to application control in the CCC. I haven't exhaustively tested every combination yet, but I've messed with most of the basics.
I'm not at home right now, but I'm going to go down the list tonight and see if there is anything I haven't tweaked.

If it's not visible in screen shots... it might be the monitor.
Try another monitor if you can.

Besides ensuring that Vsync is on, try making sure you are using the native refresh rate of your monitor. You probabaly already are, but it's something else to look at.
Checked both those things re: the monitor.
Whatever my issues are seem sporadic, it's driving me a little bit crazy. I haven't seen the line I mentioned in a few days. But...
Currently, when it has problems, the problem it has is "chunking" as I turn. Ie the framerate slows way down, but only as long as I am rotating. Moving forward, etc. works fine.

Lobster, have you checked your 'Wait for vertical refresh' setting in Catalyst Control Center? If it is set to 'Always Off' that may interfere with the game's vsync settings.

I don't see anything with that label, is it "3D Refresh Rate Override" ? I have that set to "Disabled".

Also at the bottom of that section, set Triple Buffering to On.
Be well, people of CoH.

Update: This last change seems to have stabilized my system, I haven't had an issue since then.
