I think a lot of the arguments presented here preclude the possibility of new content of increased difficulty released alongside the increased ability.
I think it would be most logical to presume that the "extremely difficult" content that is being added and the "better 50" content that is being added are responses to each other.
How do we keep the game from being stale? Adding more similar difficulty TFs and storylines? Nope.
Add different difficulty TFs and storylines, (in this case, harder), and enable the players to work to be able to achieve a level of power where they will be able to handle this new content.
Will a "level 60" find running older TFs (like, say, Numina's) easy? Yes. But, well, we already do.
Will a "level 60" be able to do things that weren't 'intended'?
We have players Soloing the ITF, Soloing GMs, Duoing the MS.
We have 17 minute ITFs, and 30 minute LGTFs being run daily.
Quite frankly, there needs to be more high-end content, and if the best way to do that is to ALSO give us a way to become yet more powerful, so be it. Sounds like it'll be fun.
As to the people who think that the possibility of increased power 50s will ruin their non-increased-50's fun, I ask this:
While running around at level 23, did you ever have less fun because you knew that somewhere out there there was a level 50 who could waltz through your most difficult of missions?
How about when you join an ITF as a level 37, and most of the rest of your team are 50s? Did that ruin your gameplay experience?
I posit that these changes will be no different. -
Thanks for your modwork on BMT Cobalt.
We love you, and you do a great job.
*hug*
(Also, we miss you, hope your holidays are going smashingly.) -
I came on to make a Merry Christmas thread,
But here it already is.
So,
Merry Christmas Champion!!!
*hugs* -
Quote:Congrats on your 50s folks!
Glad I had the chance to team with both Elizabet and Texas Trix. Masked Secretary, let me know if you start anything else on villains. I still need to get my Therm to 50 and will require team mates.
I kinda miss blueside, so I might make something new over there,
But honestly, I'd be more than happy to run Elizabet in lower level content if you need a teammate.
... that or I'll make a widow... or a corr... or a dom....
....
Hit me up! -
Elizabet, my wonderful crab-pirate, is now fifty, my first real villain to be so.
(I have a 50 claws/wp brute... but she doesn't count.)
Now only a few billion more inf, and she'll be done! -
It's funny, I was thinking about this just last night while Champion server was down.
I was like, hmm... I should build a blaster that can solo GMs.
Then I came to the conclusion that it'd have to be a fire/MM.
I contemplated Sonic/MM for a second, but just didn't think that it had it.
Anyway, grats! -
If the OP didn't make it clear for any newcomers,
Please simply read the last two pages.
...
It'll give you a pretty realistic impression of the server.
We'll be waiting to great you with open arms, cupcakes, ITFs, bacon, maybe even a roast coralax. -
Where do (un)intentional MT fall in to the above drama?
-
Might I suggest you amend the rules to say
"Only tier 1 inspirations, no red inspirations."
Because while purples, blues, and greens might well be necessary,
Reds effect different ATs differently.
My main complaint here is for brutes.
Most of their damage comes from their rage, so a +25% doesn't really help them much. 4 small reds only give them +25% dps, and even 8 only adds 67%. Compare to (most) blasters or scrappers whom these would double and triple their dps.
Similar versions of this argument remain true for /dark and /shield scrappers (and tanks), masterminds, and (theoretically) trollers who get most of their damage out of their pets. (Who would likely be the second on a team, not the primary, but still, it could happen)
Now, if that's what you were going for ("bring out your two best scrappers (or scrapper/blaster, or one of the two and a severe debuffer) to see who can down a Rikti Pylon!"), Awesome! But I think that removing reds might open up the field to a bit more competition. -
Thanks, this was a blast.
Too bad the flyer didn't want to cooperate. -
Or, you could do two rounds, back to back, and still give 100 per shot?
Double the fun, and spreads the prizes around a bit more. -
Oh man, I need money so badly on my villain, I hope that I get one of those.
-
No... that's a question that is a trick.
Similar, but quite different. -
Wow.
These were amazing.
Just amazing.
I loved them,
All of them.
Ruin might have been my favorite,
Or at least the one that I hope to see ingame some day the most.
But damn,
Those were great.
The only complaint I have is that I didn't find them until today.
Maybe something can be done to draw a bit more attention to them?
More players should read them, it really adds a great perspective to the game.
Hope to see in game ramifications of all of this, but even if we don't, I really enjoyed getting to read this, as they added to the experience of the world as-it-is.
Thanks whomever wrote these;
Great idea,
Great implementation.

My Crab would love to run with more VEATS any day of the week (that I'm on).
Hit me up.
(She's 33 atm, but I'm good with whatever content.) -
Haha!
That was awesome.
(As was the original, which I hadn't seen until now.)
Great work.
Makes me wonder if anyone has done any CoH AMVs.
*Runs off to look* -
Was fun, but definitely needed more -regen.
Thanks so much for having me along! -

Wait.
When did I become one of the cool kids?
<.< >.> O.o ??
As for Cobalt kicking anyone who sneezes wrong,
I don't see it.
Sure, I've only been around BMT for a month or two,
But when I first got my invite, I jumped in the channel and talked casually.
Including a few impolite-for-public-conversation words.
Cobalt PMed me telling me to watch my mouth, and I have since.
I didn't know any better.
When people get out of line, he politely reminds them to stay pg-13, and kicks them if-and-only-if they get out of line.
I saw him kick someone once who was openly badmouthing other community members, and ya know what, that's ok with me.
If he has chosen to be a moderator who keeps needless childish drama out of a channel made for (among other things) finding team members to help gain badges, defeat giant monsters, and run task forces (Unless, of course, I misunderstand the abbreviation), then he has my applause.
MMOs often degrade into childish namecalling and bickering, which are stricktly un-fun.
The *FEW* people I have seen kicked from BMT were kicked to maintain community integrity and that sense of 'fun'.
Sorry this turned into a TL;DR rant... it wasn't my intention.
I just feel that the comments about "cool kids", "In crowds", and "pointless social kicking" are completely out of line with the experiences that I have had. -
Heck yeah. I will try to be at every one of these I can.
