    Okay people, let me spell it out, since "Tetris Is Fun" didn't do it...

    You don't have to use the Choke Point. I swear. Take it out. See that space between the Teleport Chamber and Energy Terminal? A door can be there. Now all you do is swap places between the Energy Terminal and the Containment Alcolve, have the Control Room connect to the -new- placement of the Energy Terminal, and you're set.

    It is entirey possible to get a Raidable base, with the 3x3 Teleport Chamber that doesn't cost you "2X", but just X. I promise.

    I'll be digging around, and the next update will give pics of possible Raidable Bases using the minimum. It's 100% possible to make that base without the Choke Point. I was just using it as an example because I liked how he had set it up, and it uses one of each room (except decorative).

    She's right. Instead of putting a choke point in there, you could squeeze in a second control room for 100 K or so, but you would have to use another 1x4 room.

    You left out the part where it costs you 500 power..so it will push your power over the threshhold... so you either need to spend 525K on a new energy room and generator or spend nearly 2 million on upgrading to the turbine.

    This is one of my top issues with base building. Every "upgrade" appears to require a couple of other additions because of power/control which cost tons of prestige. Granted once you make the investments you will be set for some time. Its just being stymied everytime you think you are ahead.

    I got a Super Comptuer, 4 tables, 1 reclaimator, 4 telepads and I'm still under the 1300 Energy cap you can achieve with a Basic Generator and two Circuit Breakers.
  3. What I reccomended to Kong is to go for the 3x3 Energy Room over the 3x3 Teleport Room on that plot. The reason was to be able to place the Turbine Generator on the standard plot and still have a raidable base.

    Why would you want a Turbine Generator on the standard plot? Because it has more hit points than the Basic Generator and those extra HP may be just what you need to be successful defending your base. Keeping the Energy source alive keeps your infirmary running, and keeping your infirmary running gives you an advantage over your attackers. That's why with an 8 room base you should focus only on the Energy Room and Infirmary while occasionally glancing at the Vault. Keep these rooms together and defend them strongly and you will win a raid.

    Of course, the 3x3 Energy Station 1 costs 900 k....

  5. That base design is rather expensive. For smaller SG's it's better to just put the Arcane Raid Teleporter in a 2x2 room if that's the way you want to go with your SG.

    You can have the cheapest raidable base at ~ 1.5 million prestige or so give or take a little. In that design the choke point alone will cost you 1.5 million.

    On the contrary, yes, I would very much want them to work (briefly) any time that power is required above and beyond that which the base generates, as it would allow smaller sgs to get a useful base going much more quickly. Basic cap = 10k prestige vs. minimal energy terminal + generator = 375k prestige. If the cap would trigger on demand even outside of raids, that would allow you to get work tables, teleporters, or rez rings functional (if intermittently) for 365k less prestige. If an sg is bringing in 10k/day, that means a little over a month less of "why do we have this useless base, again?" before it's able to do something. How is this something you wouldn't want?

    That's waste of prestige in my opinion. They last only for a minute or two and when they're used up, they're gone. You're best bet is just saving up for a generator or if you have one already, place two circuit breakers next to it.

    I hadn't noticed that distinction (but I haven't looked for whether you can put secure rooms in a non-secure base, so you're probably right), but there is one other significant difference: Secure bases can have backup power and control rooms. A hidden base can only have one of each, so if invaders get in there and trash your mainframe, your base will shut down. A secure base lets you put a second one off somewhere else to keep things going until the raid is over and repairs can be made.

    Now for my question on base building, which I've never seen raised anywhere... Do capacitors work outside of raids? If so, that would be a great boon for us smaller sgs - sure, the workbench/teleporters/rez rings may only work for a minute at a time, but at least you can get them up and running a quarter million Prestige sooner if they'll run off a cap while you save up for a real generator.

    Yep, I was thinking of that myself. For instance the Turbine Generator covers 3 squares so you couldn't fit it into a 2x2 Energy room. You HAVE to upgrade plot size to fit it in or else have a real expensive basic plot sized base.

    I'll work on it, but it may take a little while.

    The former is an accomplishment and should be posted about; while the latter could be seen as gloating.

  19. Well in the Perez Map the SR can outrun the debuff. If it were in the Office Map then he wouldn't have had a chance, since the office map extremely favors rads.
